Chapter 34

Elena’s pov:

I slowly woke up from my sleep when I felt the sun's rays on my skin. My stomach ached a little, and my feet were sore. The baby bump is beginning to show.

It's been 9 weeks since I found out I am pregnant, and that means I am 12 weeks gone. Nicholas has been kind and caring to me. He always watched out, and he was protective and possessive. I had been going for antenatal care, but today was my rest day.

I yawned and slowly opened my heavy eyes. I sat upright and rested my head on the headboard. My eyes widened when I saw Nicklaus sitting at the end of the bed, staring at me.

“Damn, you startled me. How long have you been watching me?” I spoke.

“A couple of hours,” he responded with a wide grin on his face.

I glanced at the wall clock, and it was almost noon. “You should be at work. I spoke as I yawned.

“I just wanted to make sure that you had a wonderful rest. Did you sleep well?” he asked.

I nodded my head.

“Now, come have your bath,” he said, gently taking me out of bed to the bathroom.

After taking a hot bath, I took some supplements before changing into something comfortable.

Nicklaus wrapped the robe around me, and I could perceive the sweet vanilla fragrance on it.

When we left the bathroom, I saw a very huge tray of breakfast on the bed loaded with plates of pancakes, bread, sliced avocado, and a vegetable salad. The jug was filled with freshly made orange juice and a glass of water.

A bouquet of fresh rose flowers was lying separately on the bed.

I stood there, but I wasn't surprised. Nicklaus has always been asking the chef to serve me breakfast in bed and a fresh bouquet of roses every morning.

I was so hungry that I started eating immediately. Nicklaus and I ate together.

“How about we go shopping for the baby today? We need to start getting prepared, aand you also need to stretch your legs and go out a little,” he said.

I was so tired, but I was also happy to watch Nicklaus get ready for the birth of our child. It would also help me exercise a little to relieve my sore legs.

After breakfast, I changed into something comfortable. My baby bump was visible. I also wear a denim jacket and a face cap before leaving the mall.

We arrived at the mall and made our way to the baby session. The shop gleamed with pink and blue walls and crystal chandeliers.

The store was so quiet and beautiful. I noticed we were the only ones.

“This place is empty,”

“Yeah, I reserved the whole place for us today,” Nicklaus replied.

“I do not want you to be in a noisy place, so it won't get you worked up,” he said.

“You need to take a seat and catch your breath while the workers package the items.”

“No, I need to exercise. Remember?” I spoke.

“That's right,”

He held my waist, and I leaned into his arms for support as we walked to the corner of the store. I looked around to see the workers that went with us getting tired.

I looked up at him and said, “Nicklaus, I think that's enough.” I spoke.

We have five carts full.

"You need more; let's take a break,” I said.

A private room was set aside for us. After a few seconds, we got to the closest sofa, and I gently laid on it. I felt a little relieved. We waited for our stuff to be packaged.

I felt nauseous and pressed. I stood up and walked to the restroom to pee, and Nicklaus went with me to make sure that I was alright.

“Nicklaus, you are not allowed to go in with me to the ladies restroom. Someone might see you.” I said, lowering my tone.

“I reserved the whole place. Remember?.” He responded.

After a few minutes, our stuff was sorted, and we walked out of the store to the waiting car when a lot of paparazzi surrounded us and threw multiple questions at us.

“Mr Coleman? Is your wife pregnant?

“How do you feel about it?

“I heard you never loved her that you hated her. You were just forced to get married to her out of pity. Why is she pregnant?

They asked a lot of questions. Nicklaus’s bodyguards surrounded us and made way for us to get into the car.

I felt bad about the last question. It wasn't comfortable. Where did they get that kind of information? Is someone trying to ruin our reputation?

“Why the last question though? Where did they get such information?” I asked, feeling worried.

“Do not worry about it. They always cook up lies,” they said.

“And the girlfriends? Were they lying?”

Nicklaus looked away and turned to me. “Back then, I was a playboy; that's why I liked to stay low-key. Nobody knew my pictures, but since I got married to you, I haven’t cheated on you, Elena. Don't get yourself worked up.”
