Chapter 182

Elena and Zoey sat on the couch as they both ate popcorn and drank fresh juice. Elena rolled her eyes. “I wish I could have some red wine right now, but I still have to follow the doctor’s advice until I get better,” Elena spoke out loud.

“You are right. It would have been a great way to watch this movie. Dinner would be ready soon,” Zoey spoke.

They both turned around to see Wave playing with his iPad. “He looks so handsome.” Zoey commented.

“Elena nodded her head. “I know right,” she said and dipped her juice.

Zoey gave her a side look. “So are you waiting for me to ask you what happened between you and Nicklaus last night? I can see the glow.”

Elena smiled and shook her head. She opened her mouth to protest, but Zoey cut her off. “Don't even try to protest,” she giggled.

Elena chuckled lightly. “Well, I won't deny that something happened, and it was divine. I am beginning to have a soft spot for him,” she explained.

Zoey smiled. “Well, I am glad. You finally have someone to ease that sexual tension. I am even happy that it is Nicklaus,” she spoke.

Elena shook her head. “You have no idea. It was the best. I have been missing much. But—” she said and fixed her gaze on the floor.

“But?” Zoey asked, fixing her gaze on Elena and waiting for her to speak.

“He is still married to Sarah,” she said.

Zoey waved her hands in the air, “That should be the least of your concerns." Something beautiful happened between the two of you.”

“I think I have fallen in love with Nicklaus, Zoey,” Elena confessed her feeling.

“Yah….” Zoey giggled, and Elena smiled a little. Zoey fixed her eyes on Wave and raised her eyebrows. “When are you going to tell him about his son?” she asked, folding her arms across her chest.

“What?” Elena asked, just as the doorbell rang.

“That must be Alex. I will get the door,” Zoey said and walked to the door.

Alex arrived home after work. He saw Zoey, Elena, and Wave watching a movie and having fun together. He smiled and walked inside.

“Welcome back, my love,” Zoey said and kissed Alex on the lips.

“Thank you,” he said and sniffed. “Something smells nice in here,” he said.

“Thats because I am making your favourite... roasted turkey,” she spoke.

“That is amazing; I can't wait to dig in,” he said, but Zoey held up.

“Not so fast. You have to freshen up,” she said.

“Well, I can't do that unless you help me in the bathroom,” Alex joked as he kissed Zoey.

Zoey rolled her eyes. “Unless you want your turkey to get burnt,” she chuckled.

"Alright, love birds. You go freshen up. I will check the turkey,” Elena said and walked to the kitchen.

She set the table, and after a few minutes, everyone was ready for dinner. They all said down and enjoyed each other’s company.

After dinner, Elena and Zoey cleared the table when Alex called Elena’s attention. “Elena. Can I have a word with you?” he asked gently.

“Sure,” she said and sat on the chair. “What is it?” she said, fixing her gaze on him.

Alex exhaled deeply. “It's about your father,” he said.

Elena sighed. “He's not my father, and I don't want to talk about him,” she said, and she stood up from the couch when Alex reached for her hands.

“Elena. Just hear me out,” he spoke softly.

“Fine,” she said and sat on the chair.

“It's about the company, Elena. Your father needs you right now. I know how much you hate company jobs because of everything that has happened, but you are the only one who can save that company from its mess right now. Nicklaus had been trying, and he has a lot on his plate already,” Alex explained.

“Well, that's what my family is good for: using people. They dragged Nicklaus into their mess, and now they want to drag me,” she spoke.

“Elena. Just do this for him at least until he recovers,” Alex pleaded.

She looked at Zoey, who also pleaded with her.

Tears rolled down Elena’s eyes, andnzory rushed to hug her. “It's going to be fine. You are strong and have a forgiving spirit. That is what makes you different from them. Just give them a chance and bring the company back,” Zoey pleases.

“I will do this because it is the right thing to do, but now because of them,” Elena said.

Alex smiled and nodded his head. “You have always been a good person,” he said.

“One more thing,” Elena spoke, and they all fixed their eyes on her. “I have to speak with him tonight,” she said.

“Its fine. I can take you there, or would you rather go there with Zoey?” he asked.

“Whatever. I just want my son to be watched over while I am gone. I never want him close to them,” she said.

“Fine, I will stay with him while I have my rest. You and Zoey can go to the hospital; that way, you both can get some air,” Alex said.
