Nicklaus’s POV:
I have been very busy with this ongoing investigation about Elena and Sarah lately. Everything had been so suspicious lately, and I planned to get to the root of everything, though I am enevarted.
For the past 24 hours, I have barely slept or eaten. I had been busy with document reviews and investigations.
I had discovered a lot of things since the case was reopened, and I have discovered Sarah’s involvement in everything, even though there seem to me to be so many hidden secrets.
I arrived at the mansion and stood in front of Sarah’s doorway. After some time thinking about it, I barged into her room. I had already obtained permission from Mr. Williams for this case about Sarah.
My eyes scanned around the room. Everything was arranged in order. I decided to do some little searches.
I found nothing. I couldn't find any suspicious items. There was no clue. I became frustrated and angry.
I am ready to find the answers to all of my questions. The truth was somewhere, and I am this close to getting it.
I walked to the hallway when I pumped into Audrey, but she didn't look so good. I could tell something was wrong. Something in me said that I should ask her, but my nature was to keep shooting and go my way.
I turned to Audrey, “Audrey, are you okay?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.
She became numb all of a sudden and she smiled. “Yes, everything is fine,” she said.
“Okay,” I said and turned around to her. “Penelope, I hope you don't mind, but I would need your honest opinion,” I said.
“Right away, sir,” she said, fixing her gaze on me.
“What do you know about Marina?” I asked
She exhaled deeply. “Sir, I think you need to see this,” she spoke.
“See what?” I asked, narrowing my eyes,
She walked into her room and brought out a little box. I walked in with her. She handed it over to me. “The night Marina gave me this box was the night I last heard from her. Nobody had seen her. Not even her family.”
“What do you mean? I thought Sarah fired her,” I asked, still trying to process what she meant.
“Sir, if Marina was around, she wouldn't keep quiet about this evidence right here,” she spoke.
“Tell me what you know,” I persuaded her.
She locked her room door and closed her curtains. I was surprised to know what was going on. I didn't want to ask why she did that; I knew she had her reasons.
“Mr. Nicklaus, the night Marina wanted to run away from this mansion 5 years ago, she handed this box to me; she informed me she had bought a house for her family in the countryside in Oregon and that she would relocate there, but Marina never showed up. She didn't show up in her family house. Nobody had heard from her for 5 years, sir,” she spoke.
I narrowed my eyes and was stunned to hear all of this. “I'm sorry to say this, sir, but I think your wife knew what happened to Marina,” she whispered.
My heart slammed hard against my chest. “Mr. Nicklaus, please listen to all of these recordings, and I would be happy if you did your investigations about Marina. I have a feeling that something bad has happened to her. I listened to this today; it is the first time I listened to it.”
She leaned in on the chair. “I think Mrs. Sarah hurt Marina because she knows her secret and advised it to blackmail her. Please keep my name out of this,” she spoke.
“What?” I whispered, my heart slammed hard against my chest. I stood up immediately and carried the box.
“Thank you for this information. I will reward you for this,” I said and walked out of the house.
I got into my car and zoomed off to one of my penthouses, which had the strongest securities. I got into my room and locked the door before I began checking out what was in the box.
I saw some pictures of Sarah, Emily Williams, and Mr. Xavier having a meeting. With the time and date. 16:30, 23rd March 2019.
My eyes widened. If I can recall, this was the time and date that Elena was accused of buying shares and theft from my company.
I looked on to the next, and I heard a voice recording. “I know that you set Elena up with the theft in the Coleman company.” I heard an unknown, deep voice.
“How did you know that? You are a bloody liar.” That, I could tell, was Sarah’s voice.
After some time, Sarah spoke up. “How much do you need to shut up forever?” she asked.
“A hundred thousand dollars,” the voice spoke.
I quickly checked on to the next recordings. “You have not been taking my calls,” the deep voice spoke.
“I thought the deal had ended,” Sarah spoke.
“You are right.”
“Then what do you want from me?”
“I know you and your mother, Mrs. Williams, poisoned Elena’s drink at the party and caused her miscarriage. You also paid the waiter.”
Immediately, I heard another recording: “This night, Elena’s pregnancy will be terminated and her baby will be gone for good.” Sarah and Emily spoke as they laughed together.
Immediately, I made a copy of everything and fixed it on my flash drives. I also sent a copy to my office laptop and to many of my computers as soon as possible. This is delicate.
I sent a message to all of my lawyers and private investigators. Tomorrow, we will be at the court. Everything had to be revealed, and Sarah was arrested tomorrow.
Sarah’s POV:I walked into the study to see my mother sitting wearily on the chair. I closed the door gently, narrowing my eyes, and walked to my mother. “Mother, what's wrong? You sounded so urgent; pm the phone.” I asked, but she didn't respond.I stared at her, and my eyes widened. “Mother, you are scaring me. What is the matter? Is Dad alright?” I asked. She nodded her head and gestured for me to sit. “Please sit down, Sarah,” she spoke.I sat on the chair opposite her, and my eyes never left hers. There was silence in the room as I waited for her to speak.“Sarah, the file had gone missing,” Emily spoke; My eyes widened, and my heart slammed hard against my chest. “What file, what do you mean, mother?”“The file to the shares of the Coleman company,” she spoke. “What?” I asked and immediately ran into the library. I searched around but couldn't see anything. My mother followed me. “It was in this shelf,” she pointed out, “but now I can't find it,” she spoke. My jaw dropped
Sarah’s POV:“Well, madam Sarah. Mr. Coleman had reopened the case again. He is so serious about it. He is working hand in hand with the investigators,” Nicklaus's lawyer spoke. “Get me enough information as soon as possible. Get me everything you can lay your hands on before tomorrow afternoon,” I spoke and hung up.My heart was pounding fast in my chest, and I found it hard to catch my breath. My eyes widened in disbelief, and I was even more confused than before.“Nicklaus took the files from the study. How did he manage to do that?” I muttered silently to myself; there was a calculative look on my face as I tried to process this information. Who would have informed Nicklaus about the file? It couldn't be my father. It had to be one of the workers in the house. The two cleaners. Yes, they must know something about this.I sat in the room feeling uneasy and confused about the whole drama going on. If Nicklaus tries to take up this case again, he might find out the truth. I am in b
Nicklaus’s POV:It's been raining all night long. I lay in bed and tried to get enough rest, but I could not. I thought about everything that had happened and I blamed myself.I have to speak with Elena immediately. I roll out of bed and change into something casual. I stepped into my car, my bodyguards surrounding me, but I stopped them. “I want to be alone,” I said and zoomed off into the highway.Aside from her father wanting to speak with her to come back and run his company because everything is falling apart, I miss Elena. I was ready to pay the price to have her back in my life. I drove under the heavy rain and arrived at Anex’s penthouse. I rang the doorbell and waited for the door to be opened. After a few seconds, the door was opened, and it was Elena. She was standing in the doorway. “Nicklaus,” she muttered. “Elena, can I speak to you?” I asked. She walked out and stood in the doorway, “It's late. Everybody is asleep. I don't want you to wake them up. Are you okay?”
Elena’s POV:I lay on my bed as I tried to get enough sleep but I couldn't. The noise of the rain and the thunder. What Nicklaus just said to me made me feel sad, and it made my heart heavy. I walked to Wave’s room to see him sleeping peacefully. I gently closed the door and went into my room. I rested my back on the door, and I collapsed on the floor. Tears rolled down my cheeks uncontrollably, and my body was shaking with sobs. I couldn't believe all that I had just heard. It is so hard for me to believe Nicklaus. I thought about how he maltreated me, thinking I was the monster. It turns out that Sarah had been behind all of this. As for my father, I don't feel sorry for him. I just want all of them out of my life for good, and nothing would take my peace away. I stood up and walked to the widow to see Nicklaus standing in the rain. He didn't look so good, but I couldn't care less. I closed the curtain and turned off the light.I lay on my bed and forced myself to sleep, but I
Nicklaus’s POV:I woke up to see the morning sun resting on Elena’s face. It felt so good to see her sleeping peacefully in my arms. “Nicklaus,” she called. She slowly moved away from me.“Good morning, Elena,” I said.“Nicklaus, you need to go before our—my son sees us in here,” she spoke up.I sat upright. “Please, can you get me my clothes?” I asked. She rushed out immediately and brought the clothes back in. I quickly put it on and was about to leave when the door was open. Elena’s eyes widened as Jason ran into the room. “Good morning, mummy,” he called and ran to Elena. He stopped when he set his eyes on me. “Uncle Nicklaus?”Elena and I didn't say a word. We just kept quiet. Immediately the door was open, and Zoey walked in. “Elena,” she paused, her eyes on Nicklaus. “Uncle Nicklaus, what are you doing here?” wave asked. I looked at Elena. “Uh, I just dropped by this morning to invite your mother for dinner,” he spoke. “Really?” Wave asked. Elena gave me side eyes, but th
Sarah’s POV:“Are you sure of what you are telling me? I need you to get me more information,” I said. “Maam, I can't get my information out of that right now. It turns out that it is between Mr. Sam and Mr. Coleman. But it can only be one thing. Mr. Sam is a divorce lawyer,” he spoke. “Get your hands on anything as soon as possible and let me know. I will be waiting.” I had been feeling uneasy lately, and I knew that things weren't right. I had ordered the boys to attack Nicklaus penthouse and search for anything that they could get their hands on. I had also broke into his bedroom to see if I could get my hands on any evidence to get rid of it, but I couldn't find a single piece of evidence.Does this mean that Nicklaus has no idea about the missing file in my father’s house?I exhaled deeply as I walked around the room. “What if he doesn't know anything about this? Why had he been acting strange then?”Immediately, my phone buzzed, and I reached for it. It was a picture of Nick
Elena and Zoey sat on the couch as they both ate popcorn and drank fresh juice. Elena rolled her eyes. “I wish I could have some red wine right now, but I still have to follow the doctor’s advice until I get better,” Elena spoke out loud.“You are right. It would have been a great way to watch this movie. Dinner would be ready soon,” Zoey spoke. They both turned around to see Wave playing with his iPad. “He looks so handsome.” Zoey commented.“Elena nodded her head. “I know right,” she said and dipped her juice.Zoey gave her a side look. “So are you waiting for me to ask you what happened between you and Nicklaus last night? I can see the glow.”Elena smiled and shook her head. She opened her mouth to protest, but Zoey cut her off. “Don't even try to protest,” she giggled.Elena chuckled lightly. “Well, I won't deny that something happened, and it was divine. I am beginning to have a soft spot for him,” she explained.Zoey smiled. “Well, I am glad. You finally have someone to ease th
“What do you want from me?” She asked, and her voice trembled. “Are you married?” Mr. Williams asked.“Yes, I am. Do you want me to wait for you for eternity?” she asked. “I am sorry for what happened, Anna. I was young and stupid. I didn't know what I was doing. I thought my parents wanted the best for me, but my life got ruined instead. I looked for you everywhere, but I heard you moved out of the country,” he explained. Anna broke down and began to sob. Her body shook while she sobbed. Williams sat upright and held her in his hands. “I got a scholarship. I had to travel to Korea to further my education to become a nurse.”After a few minutes, she was calm, and Williams gathered the courage to speak, “And the child? The last time you told me you were pregnant,” he spoke.“What do you mean?” She asked, narrowing her eyes and fixing her gaze on him. “You said you were pregnant for me,” he spoke.Anna was confused, and she narrowed her eyes. “Where is Elena?” she asked.Williams na
