Chapter 175

Nicklaus’s POV:

I have been very busy with this ongoing investigation about Elena and Sarah lately. Everything had been so suspicious lately, and I planned to get to the root of everything, though I am enevarted.

For the past 24 hours, I have barely slept or eaten. I had been busy with document reviews and investigations.

I had discovered a lot of things since the case was reopened, and I have discovered Sarah’s involvement in everything, even though there seem to me to be so many hidden secrets.

I arrived at the mansion and stood in front of Sarah’s doorway. After some time thinking about it, I barged into her room. I had already obtained permission from Mr. Williams for this case about Sarah.

My eyes scanned around the room. Everything was arranged in order. I decided to do some little searches.

I found nothing. I couldn't find any suspicious items. There was no clue. I became frustrated and angry.

I am ready to find the answers to all of my questions. The truth was somewhere, and I am this close to getting it.

I walked to the hallway when I pumped into Audrey, but she didn't look so good. I could tell something was wrong. Something in me said that I should ask her, but my nature was to keep shooting and go my way.

I turned to Audrey, “Audrey, are you okay?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.

She became numb all of a sudden and she smiled. “Yes, everything is fine,” she said.

“Okay,” I said and turned around to her. “Penelope, I hope you don't mind, but I would need your honest opinion,” I said.

“Right away, sir,” she said, fixing her gaze on me.

“What do you know about Marina?” I asked

She exhaled deeply. “Sir, I think you need to see this,” she spoke.

“See what?” I asked, narrowing my eyes,

She walked into her room and brought out a little box. I walked in with her. She handed it over to me. “The night Marina gave me this box was the night I last heard from her. Nobody had seen her. Not even her family.”

“What do you mean? I thought Sarah fired her,” I asked, still trying to process what she meant.

“Sir, if Marina was around, she wouldn't keep quiet about this evidence right here,” she spoke.

“Tell me what you know,” I persuaded her.

She locked her room door and closed her curtains. I was surprised to know what was going on. I didn't want to ask why she did that; I knew she had her reasons.

“Mr. Nicklaus, the night Marina wanted to run away from this mansion 5 years ago, she handed this box to me; she informed me she had bought a house for her family in the countryside in Oregon and that she would relocate there, but Marina never showed up. She didn't show up in her family house. Nobody had heard from her for 5 years, sir,” she spoke.

I narrowed my eyes and was stunned to hear all of this. “I'm sorry to say this, sir, but I think your wife knew what happened to Marina,” she whispered.

My heart slammed hard against my chest. “Mr. Nicklaus, please listen to all of these recordings, and I would be happy if you did your investigations about Marina. I have a feeling that something bad has happened to her. I listened to this today; it is the first time I listened to it.”

She leaned in on the chair. “I think Mrs. Sarah hurt Marina because she knows her secret and advised it to blackmail her. Please keep my name out of this,” she spoke.

“What?” I whispered, my heart slammed hard against my chest. I stood up immediately and carried the box.

“Thank you for this information. I will reward you for this,” I said and walked out of the house.

I got into my car and zoomed off to one of my penthouses, which had the strongest securities. I got into my room and locked the door before I began checking out what was in the box.

I saw some pictures of Sarah, Emily Williams, and Mr. Xavier having a meeting. With the time and date. 16:30, 23rd March 2019.

My eyes widened. If I can recall, this was the time and date that Elena was accused of buying shares and theft from my company.

I looked on to the next, and I heard a voice recording. “I know that you set Elena up with the theft in the Coleman company.” I heard an unknown, deep voice.

“How did you know that? You are a bloody liar.” That, I could tell, was Sarah’s voice.

After some time, Sarah spoke up. “How much do you need to shut up forever?” she asked.

“A hundred thousand dollars,” the voice spoke.

I quickly checked on to the next recordings. “You have not been taking my calls,” the deep voice spoke.

“I thought the deal had ended,” Sarah spoke.

“You are right.”

“Then what do you want from me?”

“I know you and your mother, Mrs. Williams, poisoned Elena’s drink at the party and caused her miscarriage. You also paid the waiter.”

Immediately, I heard another recording: “This night, Elena’s pregnancy will be terminated and her baby will be gone for good.” Sarah and Emily spoke as they laughed together.

Immediately, I made a copy of everything and fixed it on my flash drives. I also sent a copy to my office laptop and to many of my computers as soon as possible. This is delicate.

I sent a message to all of my lawyers and private investigators. Tomorrow, we will be at the court. Everything had to be revealed, and Sarah was arrested tomorrow.
