Chapter 169

Nicklaus’s POV:

I drove the car on the highway at full speed to Mr. Williams's house. I waited for the right moment when Mrs. Williams and Sarah were in the hospital to carry out Mr. Williams's instructions. I have a feeling that things are beginning to get interesting.

I didn't have enough time on my side. I had to act according to what Mr. Williams told me, and I needed to make it smooth. After what felt like forever, I arrived at the mansion and brought the car to a stop.

“Good day, Mr. Nicklaus,” the butler, Mr. James, greeted as he approached me.

I nodded my head in acknowledgement as I got out of the car and walked inside the house. The butler followed me from behind, and I noticed his presence with my side-eye.

I stopped on my track and turned to him, waiting for him to speak. “Mr. Williams is in the hospital. None of his family members are at home,” he spoke.

“I am aware of that. I was sent here by Mr. Williams. Now you will excuse me,” I said and walked into the hallway.

I got into the study and hurriedly found my way to the library. I made sure that my movements were swift and smooth. I didn't want any of this to be suspected.

I quickly squatted down and looked under the shelves when I noticed a file on the floor. It was the only file out of place, and I knew it was exactly what Mr. Williams talked about.

Without hesitating, I reached for the file and walked into the study. I quickly adjusted it in my suit jacket and walked out of the study to see the butler standing close to the door.

I gave him a daring look. I have it when someone pokes in people's businesses. I walked past him and out of the front door when I noticed Mrs. Williams walking into the house.

I was caught off guard, but I managed to compose myself. She narrowed her eyes, surprised to see me, and she walked to the front porch.

“Nicklaus, you didn't tell me you would be coming to the house; what brings you here?” she said.

“Yes, I am already on my way. Your husband asked me to help with his recent meeting, so I had to go through the recent project without wasting so much time,” I explained.

She creased her brows, lost in thought. “Oh, that's right. About the ongoing project. I would have lived if Sarah was working with you so that she could grab some business ideas.” She spoke, and I inhaled deeply.

“You know Elena, uh, rather, that woman used to help out with everything, so Sarah has no idea how to handle business, and I would like my husband to retire as soon as possible so that he could rest,” she said.

I nodded my head, understanding, “Mrs. Williams, I couldn't agree less with you; that’s a very good idea, but it will take some time,” I said.

Her eyes moved away from me, and I could see the concern in her eyes as if she was thinking she signed. “You are right. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a step; I am sure she would catch up fast,” she said.

“I would be delighted to do that if Sarah is willing to learn,” I spoke, and she nodded her head in agreement. “I have to be on my way now. I still have a lot of things to take care of,” I said.

“Okay, see you soon,” she said, and I walked away. I got into my car and exhaled deeply. “That was close,” I muttered under my breath as I adjusted the rearview mirror and started the engine.

While I was driving, I looked around and tried to be careful not to be followed. I do not trust anybody at this point, so I can't be careless.

I walked to my office and shut the door behind me so that I could secretly go through the file. I sat on my chair and carefully went through it.

My eyes narrowed in confusion when I saw all of the shareholder's original documents, multiple trials of Elena's signatures, and a lot more documents.

My eyes widened as I read further; that's when it struck me that Elena was set up. My heart slammed hard against my chest, and it was beating fast. Sweat started developing under my skin, and I pulled my jacket.

Immediately, I called all of my private investigators and private lawyers to the office. I paced around the office with the parts arranged on the table after I had taken photos of each document for solid documents.

They arrived after a while, and the meeting began after so much discussion and interrogation that I decided to give my conclusion.

“We have a lot of work on our hands, and we have to work hard on this case. I believe Elena was set up, and we have to get to the root of this. I will speak to Mr. Williams about how that fugitive must be found.
