Chapter 168

The hospital door was swung open, while Mr. Williams lay in his bed looking pale and weak with his wife and Sarah by his side.

Nurse Grey entered the room with a clipboard in her hands; her eyes scanned the chart as she stepped in, standing beside me, Williams. She was about to speak when her eyes fell on Mr. Williams; her eyes widened.

The clipboard she was holding slipped from her fingers and dropped on the floor, which caused all eyes to be on her because of the sudden noise.

Sarah turned around and narrowed her eyes, looking at the nurse, “How clumsy. You look like you have just seen a ghost, hello? We are humans,” she said rudely.

“I'm so sorry, my apologies. I guess I was too distracted,” she apologised and went ahead to check Mr. Williams's vitals. Mr. William’s eyes opened in his weak state.

Mr. Williams eyes were fixed on the nurse, and he didn't say a word. He was caught off guard. Her dark brown eyes only reminded him of the past. Their eyes met again, and they locked.

He looked at her name tag, which read, “Mrs. Grey.” He decided to brush it off. Sarah noticed how her father looked at the nurse, but she didn't say a word. She wondered if anything was going on that she didn't know.

“First, as your only child, I want you to Keep being strong for the family. Mother and I need you,” Sarah spoke as she smiled gently.

The nurse turned to Sarah, and she seemed so dumbfounded. She looked at Sarah’s features and was lost in thought. Her eyes were fixed on Sarah’s.

Sarah waved her hand after she noticed her strange behaviour. “Nurse, is everything alright?” she asked.

The nurse nodded her head and composed herself. “Yes, I will be back to check on you in the next two hours. Excuse me,” the nurse said and quickly exited the room.

Mr. Williams eyes were still on the nurse; it followed her as she left. She ran through the hallway and went into the restroom, locking the door behind her; immediately she busted out in tears; her body was shaking uncontrollably.

She leaned against the sink, and her hands rested on the counter as she cried.

Anna held the pregnancy test results in her hands, which read positive. She used her hand to cover her mouth. She could not explain how she was feeling; all she knew was that she was excited.

“I can't believe I am pregnant. Little Williams is growing inside of me,” she said excitedly. “I can't wait to break the news to him,” she said and walked out of the restroom.

Williams was standing at the kitchen counter as he prepared dinner. Rain poured heavily outside. Anna walked up to him and wrapped her arms around him from behind. He held her and smiled broadly.

“Baby, I have something to tell you,” Anna spoke gently, hiding the result in her pocket.

Williams turned around and faced Anna. “What could it be, my love?” he asked.

“I'm pregnant!” She spoke excitedly, jumping in excitement.

Immediately, Williams eyes widened. In shock. Anna slowly pulled away as she noticed his facial expression.

“Williams, aren't you excited about it?” she asked

Williams smiled nervously and turned off the stove. “Of course I am excited. I can't believe it. It just came as a surprise,” he said.

“I am just as surprised as you are; I don't even know how to feel; we are going to be a family soon,” she said.

They both had dinner, and Anna noticed how quiet Williams was. She couldn't understand why his mood changed suddenly, but she managed to brush it off.

"So, baby, what are your plans?” she asked.

Williams looked at her and dropped his cutlery. “What do you mean?” he asked.

“We are about to start a family soon; what is your plan?” She asked again.

Williams was dumbfounded; he didn't even know what to say. His parents never liked Anna, and if they found out about it, the company wouldn't be passed down to him.

“There won't be a family,” he stood up from his chair.

Anna narrowed her eyes. “What do you mean? Williams?” She asked, but he walked away from her. She couldn't bear the silence, so she ran up to him.

“Williams, I am talking to you; answer me,” she said, standing in front of him.

“That pregnancy is not mine, you lying hoe. Just when my father is about to hand over the company to me, you are coming up with this? This baby is not mine,” he shouted.

Anna’s heart slipped a bit, and her jaw dropped. She was speechless, and tears were beginning to fill her eyes.

She couldn't believe what she had just heard. She and Williams had been great, and she had never known any man aside from him.

“What do you mean, Williams? I have not seen any man except you.” She spoke, and her voice trembled heavily.

Williams didn't say a word; he walked out on Anna and left the house.

“William, Williams, we are not done talking; come back here!” She shouted and followed him in rain.

“Where are you going?” She shouted and gripped his hands.

Williams removed her hands away from her grip; the rain was already soaking them, and he turned to Anna.

“That pregnancy is not for me. Let go of me, you lying hoe,” he spoke and walked away in the rain. Anna stayed in the rain as she cried her eyes out. She couldn't believe Williams would say such to her.

After a while, she slowly walked into the house and cried herself. She waited all night long, waiting for William to return, but he never did.
