Chapter 167

Nicklaus’s POV:

I arrived back at the house, and the driver brought the car to a stop. One of my bodyguards opened the car door for me, and I hurriedly walked inside. I walked up to my room and shut the door.

I was so upset that I couldn't even explain why I was angry. I had to leave the house at midnight to see Elena in Oregon when I heard the news. I couldn't help but panic while on my way there. It's a good thing she is safe and sound.

What was I thinking by asking her to return to my house when I was fully aware that she would decline? I was ready to give Alex a taste of his own medicine. He never seems to stay out of my way.

All this while, I thought he was in a relationship with Elena. It is a huge relief that they are not together, but I couldn't help but wonder what Elema must be hiding.

Why isn't she still in touch with her baby daddy? Did he also dump her for someone else? He wouldn't do that to two friends. This is not good. What could Elena not be telling me? She is definitely hiding something, and I will get to the root of it.

I have to get my lawyers and private investigators. I need to revisit the past in order to sort all of these.

I walked into the bathroom and decided to freshen up. I changed into a comfortable white shirt and a white trouser ready to have some rest since I didn't sleep well all night long.

I walked to Amelia, and we played a little in the garden. I had no idea where Sarah was and that she wanted any of my business. Just then, Sarah walked into the garden.

She didn't look so good. She frowned, and her eyes were puffy from crying.

She stopped in front of me and Amelia and narrowed her eyes as I noticed her mood.

“Sarah, are you okay?” I asked, standing up and holding Amelia in my arms.

“She sniffed and wiped her tears. “My father had a heart attack last night. He is in the hospital. I was there all night long,” she said and began tearing up.

I reached out to her, and she rested her head on my chest, and she sobbed continuously. I didn't feel anything. Not even a spark. I just feel sorry that she was going through that.

I held her shoulder. “Everything is going to be alright. He is in good hands, and I promise you that he will recover from this,” I said, trying to assure her.

I was surprised to see myself becoming a soft oersoknand encouraging another. It had never been my character, but I welcomed the habit of being kind.

“Have you gotten enough rest yet?” I asked.

She shook her head, I took her by the shoulder, and we walked inside the room. “Irina,” and she responded immediately, walking towards us.

Please take her to the room and prepare a nice bath for her. Prepare peppermint tea to calm her mind so that she can have a good rest.

Sarah shook her head. “I want to be with him right now,” she said.

Irina nodded her head as she listened to my advice. “I will have to go see your father in the hospital. Ensure you have enough rest.” I said.

I handed Amelia to the nanny, and she went out to play with her friends who had come to visit. I changed into a casual outfit and went to the hospital.

I walked into the ward to see him lying half-conscious on the bed. My eyes widened, and I looked at him in shock.

I sat down close to him and held his hand, “Me. Williams, I am so sorry about this. You have to keep fighting. You will recover in time. Don't give up,” I said, and he nodded.

“Excuse me. I want to go grab some coffee; would you like some?” Mrs. Williams asked. I shook my head. “You shouldn't bother yourself about it. I am filled already.

She nodded her head and walked out of the room when her footsteps echoed and went silent in the hallway. Mr. Nicklaus gripped my hands.

“Nicklaus,” he called weakly.

“How is my daughter and granddaughter doing?” be asked, and he chuckled lightly.

“She is doing just fine. Mr. Williams,” I responded.

“I need you to help me out. I am too weak for what I am about to tell you, and you must keep it a secret between the both of us,” he said.

“I'm all ears. Right away, sir,” I said, fixing my eyes on him.

“There is a file under the shelf of my library. Make sure you go there where nobody sees you. Take the files; go through them,” he said, his voice hoarse.

“What should I do with them?” I asked.

“When you see it. You will know what to do. I repeat, don't tell anybody about this. This should be a secret,” he said.

I nodded my head. “I will do as you have said.” I spoke.

“You have to be very careful. Make sure no one sees you. Not even my wife,” he warned.

“Sure,” I whispered, and the door was swung open. I composed myself as I watched Mrs. Williams walk in.

“Nicklaus, how is Sarah holding up? Did she have enough rest?” she asked.

I nodded my head. “Yes, I made sure of that,” I spoke.

“Uh, I have to rush down to work and get some things done.” I stood up.

“Alright son. Please take care of yourself,” she said, and I walked out.
