Elena’s POV:
I ate dinner with Zoey, Wave, Sam, and Alex in the penthouse. The house was filled with excitement, and we all laughed.
Sam had decided to stay in Los Angeles and spend some time with us. Alex had been so kind.
The whole environment brought back old memories.
“Attention everyone,” I spoke, and they all turned their eyes on me. “I don't want to say much, but I want to thank each and every one of you for everything that you have done for me and my son. You all are my real family, and I would never trade that for everything,”
Zoey walked to me and wrapped around me. Wave ran to us, and Sam and Alex walked up to us. “We love you,”
I felt very happy and relieved. These are the people who make me feel happy, and nothing else in the works matters.
I turned to wave, “Wave, you need to go to bed; it's late.” I spoke, and I walked him to his room. Sam also decided to take his leave to his hotel.
After reading some bedtime stories to my son, I walked to the sitting room to see Zoey sitting all alone. “Where is Alex?” I asked.
“He had gone to bed. He has a court case tomorrow,” she said.
“Oh! Yeah.” I nodded and sat down close to her on the couch. I rested my head on her shoulder and gently squeezed her fingers.
“Thank you so much for everything, Zoey,” I said.
“Thank you too for always being there for me, Elena. We wouldn't have been here if not for support,” she said.
I smiled and looked away as we sipped a glass of water. Zoey noticed my mood. She raised her eyebrows. "Are you still thinking about it?” she asked.
“About who? Nicklaus? No,” I spoke quickly, trying to defend myself.
“I didn't mention names. You said it yourself,” she said, and I sighed.
“You are right,” I said and flipped my hair backwards. “I can't keep the truth from Nicklaus anymore. I have to tell him the truth; Wave is beginning to ask questions, and it's killing me that I have to lie all the time,” I explained.
Zoey smiled and held my hands. “You are a great woman and a mother. Whatever happened in the past, Nicklaus still has the right to know about his child,” she said.
“That's right. I will find the right time to do that. I am not just ready yet,” I said.
“You are brave, and I am very proud of you,” Zoey said, and we both smiled.
We sipped water and ate some biscuits as we watched movies together. Our bond had always been good.
We went into the room to sleep, and I slept all night long. After a few hours, my eyes were wide open, and I gasped.
I sat upright and tried to calm myself down. It was still my usual nightmare, but this time around, it was scary.
I looked around to see that the sun was almost rising. I walked into the bathroom and freshened up. I had a hot bath and changed into some comfortable clothes since I will be indoors all day.
After some time, I heard a gentle knock on the door. I rushed to open it to see Alex standing in the doorway.
“Good morning, Elena,” he greeted
“Good morning, Alex. Did you sleep well last night?” I asked.
He nodded his head. “Yes, I did. Elena, you may not like this, but you have a visitor,” he said.
I narrowed my eyes, a visitor? Who could it be?” I asked, walking to the sitting room when my eyes landed on Nicklaus.
I sawallowed hard, and I instantly became scared. I knew what Nicklaus was capable of.
What if he did his investigations and found out that Wave was his son? How do I explain it to him?
Zoey caught up with me. Elena and I fixed our eyes on her. “You can't leave him like that. This is the right time,” she said.
“He doesn't look so good. Do you think he knows already?” I asked,
“Just go out there and face the truth. You can't keep hiding the truth,” she said.
After taking a few deep breaths, I gathered the courage and walked into the sitting room, and Nicklaus stood up. “Elena, he called.
“Nicklaus, I have something to tell you:
“I have something to tell you too,” he said.
I swallowed hard, not knowing how to say it. “Go first,” I said.
“Well, I just reopened your case,” he said. I sighed and wanted to walk away when he reached for my hand. “No, Elena. It's not what you think,” he said.
“Then what is it about? Since I had arrived in Los Angeles, you want to throw me in jail again, right?”
“Elena, no, I can never do that to you, and I am really sorry for everything that happened, but right now, I opened the case again because I believe you now. I know that you were set up,” he said.
Whatever, “Nicklaus, I have nothing to prove. Please leave. I am too tired for this,” I said.
“I have something else to say to you,” he said.
I looked at him and raised my eyebrows. “I am interested; I am sure you read my lips.”
“Your father is on his sick bed, and he needs you.”
Nicklaus’s POV:“Your father is on his sick bed, and he needs you.” I spoke up; my voice was barely audible. Immediately, Elena stood still in her tracks. She backed me, and I waited for her to turn around and come to me. There was silence in the room. She remained motionless. After a few seconds, Elena continued walking out on me. “Elena,” I called softly. My facial expression was filled with concern. She turned to me and walked up to me with tears filling her eyes. “He is sick, and he needs me. Why does he need me? He can do without me!” she shouted. I could feel the pain in her voice. I tried to speak, but Elena stopped me. “Nicklaus, you, and my family turned your backs against me when I needed you people the most, all for what? For power, for wealth? You have it now. What more do you want from me?” She asked, her voice raising, causing attention everywhere.“I had nowhere to go. I had nothing; big nobody cared about me. My father chased me out of his house after you chased me
Mr. Williams’ POV:I blink my eyes open in the early hours of the morning when the door is slid open. Nurse Grey walked inside, holding a clipboard in her hand. She checked the monitor and also the drip. I fixed my eyes on her as I watched her quietly, letting her do her job. She didn't say a word, and she avoided eye contact with me. I felt some type of attachment. It was as if I had known her from the past, and she reminded me of Elena so much. She turned around and was about to leave the room when I mentioned a name that had been on my mind.“Anna!”She stood frozen in her tracks as the name echoed in the room. My heart slammed hard against my chest, and I was so stunned.I could remember her from the past. I smiled a little as tears were almost gathering in my eyes when she turned to her heels and walked away. I lay on the bed as tears began to fill my eyes; she was the one. It was Anna; I was right all along. I thought to myself. She looks so much like Elena. That's the reason
28 years ago.Anna woke up on a Saturday morning feeling hurt and sad. It had been days, and she had not heard from William. Since she told him that she was pregnant, she had not set her eyes on him.She got up from the bed and freshened up after her morning throw-up. The pregnancy symptoms were becoming obvious, and she noticed the changes in her body. She picked up the telephone to reach out to Emily, but it was not reachable. She narrowed her eyes. “What could be going on? Is Emily alright? I should go check on her at her place. She has a lot to tell her,” she said. She dressed up in blue denim jeans and a crop top. She brushed my hair and backed it into a ponytail, and she used makeup to conceal my eye bags. She stepped out of the house and stopped a taxi. She got inside the taxi. “Good morning, to the Robinson’s Estate,” Anna said, her voice barely above a whisper. The trip to the house was taking forever. She couldn't wait to see Emily. She needed someone to talk to. To cry a
Tears streamed down Nurse Grey's eyes, and she remembered all the events that happened in the past. Memories that she had forgotten long ago. She remembered Mrs. Emily Williams. She knew it was her best friend even though she couldn't recognise her.She remembers Sarah, and she knew that she was the same age as the girl she had given birth to, but she knew Sarah wasn't hers. She wondered where her daughter, whom she had named Elena, was now. Was she happy growing up with Emily and Williams? Is she safe right now? Did she ever think who her mother was?She looked down at her old hands, wrinkled from so many years of serving. Hands that carried multiple newborns but barely held hers. She remembered the day she gave Elena up. Even though she never wanted to, that was the odd choice she has left because Williams mother had been following her and threatening to kill Elena since she disobeyed her orders. She cried even more because she didn't want to reveal her identity, but she wished s
Nicklaus’s POV:I have been very busy with this ongoing investigation about Elena and Sarah lately. Everything had been so suspicious lately, and I planned to get to the root of everything, though I am enevarted. For the past 24 hours, I have barely slept or eaten. I had been busy with document reviews and investigations. I had discovered a lot of things since the case was reopened, and I have discovered Sarah’s involvement in everything, even though there seem to me to be so many hidden secrets.I arrived at the mansion and stood in front of Sarah’s doorway. After some time thinking about it, I barged into her room. I had already obtained permission from Mr. Williams for this case about Sarah. My eyes scanned around the room. Everything was arranged in order. I decided to do some little searches.I found nothing. I couldn't find any suspicious items. There was no clue. I became frustrated and angry. I am ready to find the answers to all of my questions. The truth was somewhere,
Sarah’s POV:I walked into the study to see my mother sitting wearily on the chair. I closed the door gently, narrowing my eyes, and walked to my mother. “Mother, what's wrong? You sounded so urgent; pm the phone.” I asked, but she didn't respond.I stared at her, and my eyes widened. “Mother, you are scaring me. What is the matter? Is Dad alright?” I asked. She nodded her head and gestured for me to sit. “Please sit down, Sarah,” she spoke.I sat on the chair opposite her, and my eyes never left hers. There was silence in the room as I waited for her to speak.“Sarah, the file had gone missing,” Emily spoke; My eyes widened, and my heart slammed hard against my chest. “What file, what do you mean, mother?”“The file to the shares of the Coleman company,” she spoke. “What?” I asked and immediately ran into the library. I searched around but couldn't see anything. My mother followed me. “It was in this shelf,” she pointed out, “but now I can't find it,” she spoke. My jaw dropped
Sarah’s POV:“Well, madam Sarah. Mr. Coleman had reopened the case again. He is so serious about it. He is working hand in hand with the investigators,” Nicklaus's lawyer spoke. “Get me enough information as soon as possible. Get me everything you can lay your hands on before tomorrow afternoon,” I spoke and hung up.My heart was pounding fast in my chest, and I found it hard to catch my breath. My eyes widened in disbelief, and I was even more confused than before.“Nicklaus took the files from the study. How did he manage to do that?” I muttered silently to myself; there was a calculative look on my face as I tried to process this information. Who would have informed Nicklaus about the file? It couldn't be my father. It had to be one of the workers in the house. The two cleaners. Yes, they must know something about this.I sat in the room feeling uneasy and confused about the whole drama going on. If Nicklaus tries to take up this case again, he might find out the truth. I am in b
Nicklaus’s POV:It's been raining all night long. I lay in bed and tried to get enough rest, but I could not. I thought about everything that had happened and I blamed myself.I have to speak with Elena immediately. I roll out of bed and change into something casual. I stepped into my car, my bodyguards surrounding me, but I stopped them. “I want to be alone,” I said and zoomed off into the highway.Aside from her father wanting to speak with her to come back and run his company because everything is falling apart, I miss Elena. I was ready to pay the price to have her back in my life. I drove under the heavy rain and arrived at Anex’s penthouse. I rang the doorbell and waited for the door to be opened. After a few seconds, the door was opened, and it was Elena. She was standing in the doorway. “Nicklaus,” she muttered. “Elena, can I speak to you?” I asked. She walked out and stood in the doorway, “It's late. Everybody is asleep. I don't want you to wake them up. Are you okay?”
