Chapter 162

Mr. Williams sat in the study after dinner as he tried to do some research and the live news channel was on.

He felt lonely and alone. He sighed when he remembered how Elena used to run his company back in the day, and he took it for granted. He regrets his actions and he misses Elena dearly.

He wished he stood by her five years ago. Maybe things wouldn't have been like this. Sarah had no idea about the company.

The news showed a live house had been burnt down in Oregon just a few minutes ago. He watched it for a while, and he shook his head. “That is not good. It was clearly a planned work,” he decided to turn off the TV and focus on the world to avoid getting distracted.

He looked at his desk to see that he had brought out the wrong document from the library. “Oh no, my bad, the wrong document. No, I have to find the right document in the library,” he signed.

“I wish Sarah was hard-working and competent; she would have taken over me. Now I am too old and weak. Who would help run the company with me? I am

Supposed to be preparing for my retirement,”

Be stood up from his chair and walked into the library, which was another little room in the study. His eyes scanned the room. After a while of searching, he finally found the document containing the company's finances. The door to the study was opened, and he heard it from the library.

He knew it was his wife, so he didn't bother speaking of asking who it was. His eyes fell on the document.

“Found you; now let's get some work done,” he said and was about to turn to his heels when a file dropped from the shelf and he picked it up.

His eyes widened and his heart pounded hard in his chest when he saw the documents that accused Elena of theft. Her numerous signatures. He could see how her signatures were copied repeatedly. He saw the shares also that were bought in the Coleman enterprise illegally.

His jaw dropped, and his eyes darted around the room. He knew his wife usually uses the library, and it could only be her that must have done such a thing.

It couldn't be her that would set up this whole plug. He thought so hard. That's when he realised that Elena was set up.

He felt remorseful, and when he heard the study door open, he quickly hid the documents underneath the shelves and acted normally to go out when he heard his wife’s laughter.

“I am so excited tonight. At least we got the beatch terminated; we are covered,” she said. Her voice was filled with excitement, as if she were celebrating.

It was his wife’s voice, so he paused for a while to listen to what was going on. He heard how excited she was as she walked around the study with her heels clicking to the ground. Sarah’s voice came from the other end of the line and it echoed.

“You have no idea how happy I am right now, Sarah. I can't believe the house burnt to ashes tonight. It clearly states on the news that nobody survived,” she said.

Mr. Williams's heart skipped a bit. He narrowed his eyes. “Whose house was on fire? In Oregon?”

“I told you to leave the job to me. It is all over the news. That stupid Elena thinks she can take everything away from you. I hope she dies in that fire tonight. She thought we wouldn't trace her in Oregon,” she said and laughed hard.

Mr. Williams's eyes widened. His blood was boiling with anger. He couldn't take it anymore. He turned the doorknob and walked into the study.

His eyes were blazing red; his wife’s eyes fell on him, and her eyes widened. Her jaw dropped as she quickly hung up the call.

She gasped and chuckled nervously. “My love, uh, have you been in the library all these while?” she asked.

“Who were you speaking to on the line?” he asked, his voice deep and his anger rising.

“Uh-uh, just work,” she stuttered, finding the right words to say but she couldn't come up with any. Her heart was pounding hard against her chest, and she became nervous. She just hoped Fhatnshen wasn't heard.

Me Williams opened his mouth to speak when his chest tightened. He winced in pain as he held his chest tightly.

“I heard, Ah.” He shouted and shut his eyes. His legs moved, and he almost lost balance.

Me Williams's eyes widened, and she rushed to him. “My love, are you alright?” she asked, and her face was filled with worry. She couldn't understand what was going on. Whether she should be worried for his health or if he overheard anything she said over the phone.

Mr. Williams shouted in pain and fell off the floor; his hands held his chest tight. Mrs. Williams became frightened and didn't know what to do.

“What do I do? My goodness!” She panicked and tried to stabilise him, but he passed out on the floor. Sarah's mother rushed out to the hallway.

“Somebody help me right now,” she shouted on top of her voice.
