Ethan’s Pov

Can't I stay here while you fall asleep in your bed?

I wanted so badly to ask her that, but I was too scared to see that change on her face. I didn't want to see anything painful from her. It felt like I didn't have the strength to face her reluctance towards me.

"Are you sure you want me to come out? Don't want me to read you a bedtime story?" I was on the other side of the door and turned to look at her with my nosy face.

She laughed. Yes, that's how I wanted her to respond. A severe response from her was too stressful for me and made me think about a lot of things in a short period. Laughing out loud like that, thinking I was joking, would be better for her and me at this time.

Sarah's head shook lightly. That soft smile on her face seemed to fill my vision. I'm sure her face will be on my mind all night. "Fairy tales?" She chuckled again. "Better not, maybe next time." She came closer, pushing my shoulder out of the doorway of her room.
