Chapter 5

Sarah’s POv

I then tried to contact Lila again. I wanted to tell her what I had found from the CCTV footage she had sent me. An answer on the other end replaced the ringing of the connected call, "Did you find anything?" asked Lila in a hurry.

I don't know what she's doing right now, but a while ago, she told me that she would look for more evidence. I recalled the shape of the tie clip I had seen on the recording. "That tie clip wasn't something I gave him or he bought. His mistress probably bought it. I'm very suspicious of her." I felt very uneasy.

I clearly remember what he often wears and keeps in his wardrobe because every time he goes to work or goes out, I'm the one who takes care of his clothes. I prepare them for him.

Lila is silent on the other end. The only thing I can hear from her right now is her heavy breathing. She's the only one I share with who can feel my pain, so I'm sure she's also shocked and feels my pain right now. "So you're sure about the affair?"

"I'm very, very sure." There was no longer any doubt in me.

"That bastard, he doesn't know how he should treat you as his partner. I've never liked her, but I didn't think she was this bad. What a piece of trash!" Lila cursed. This time, she didn't try to defend herself anymore. Hearing that, I groaned, closing my eyes at the realization of having wrongly entrusted my life to such a person.

I married the wrong man, and that's why I ended up with pain and disappointment, but do I deserve all this ugliness just because I love him? With the sincerity that I gave him, I shouldn't be treated like this.

"But you shouldn't rush to divorce him," Lila spoke in a low tone but turned my attention entirely to her.

I furrowed my brow, double-checking that my ears hadn't misheard what he said. "You want me to delay my divorce with him? You want me to stay with that bastard?" I didn't understand.

"No, that's not it." Lila quickly denied it. "I just don't want him to gain too much from you. "You've suffered this much. I at least want you to get a big compensation for what he did."

I paused, thinking about what Lila had said. Lila had a point. If anyone had the most to lose from her affair, it would be Alex, not me. I have to make sure to make him suffer losses. "You're right! Then what should I do?"

"For now, we need to gather evidence of her affair. As for finding out about her assets, I'm worried that she transferred her assets to another account so that she wouldn't have to compensate you for such a high amount. But for now, it seems like it will be difficult to find out about it. Alex is on high alert, so we must bide our time." Lila explained the plan.

I nodded, even though she didn't see it. "Alright, let's execute the plan more thoroughly. I will follow your advice."

"I'll contact you later. Right now, I'm still stalking that jerk." She sounded annoyed, making me feel better that someone was swearing at Alex for me.

"Alright, I'll wait for your news." I hung up the call.

A week after the incident passed, my condition gradually improved, but not completely. I just didn't feel as much pain as before, but instead of pain, I was currently so upset because of Ethan. It's been a week since I last saw him come to take care of me, and he never came back, even though he promised to be with me and take care of me, but he lied.

"Are you better?" the voice appeared as soon as the door opened.

I was just thinking about him lying to me, and now he was in front of me, making my annoyance even worse. What was he doing coming in and talking casually like he didn't feel guilty for breaking his promise?

I looked at him with a frowning face, watching him move closer to me after he took off his jacket and placed it on the edge of my bed unceremoniously. Our eyes met, but she gave me a confused glance before putting her hand on my forehead. "You don't have a fever anymore. But what's with that face of yours?" he looked straight into my eyes.

I averted my gaze from him, ignoring his questions silently without saying a word, acting like he wasn't there. Ethan disappointed me with his words that he didn't even remember.

"What's wrong with you? Why are you being so quiet?" The pair of eyes that looked exactly like those cities made me hesitant to keep quiet as he stared intensely. "Tell me what's wrong? Why are you acting like this? Last time, your reaction around me was better and not this stiff." he folded his arms across his chest. Instead of feeling guilty, he made me look like a troublemaker.

I don't accept it. I won't let a man treat me like that anymore. "It's because last time you didn't lie to me," I replied curtly.

"I did it?" his cold face seemed reluctant to admit. "I never lied to you." He emphasized that point firmly, making me even more annoyed with him.

I looked sharply at him. "You did! You lied to me-"

"What can you tell me about?!" he was being impatient, his cold face showing annoyance.

Why was he the one getting annoyed when I was the one who should be venting my annoyance at her? "You don't even remember what you promised me." I stared at him dumbfounded. I averted my eyes from him and tried to turn my body to the side to go back to sleep and ignore her. "Never mind, I don't want to talk to you."

I was stunned. "Aw, what are you doing?!" I exclaimed loudly at him. Glaring at him fiercely for suddenly pulling me away just like that, ignoring that I was hurt. "You're angry because I ignored you? You're hurting me!" which was true.

His eyes looked at me intently. "You're hurt. What's wrong with your wound that it's become like this?" he pointed out a wound on my hand that looked quite bad. I didn't notice, but it seemed to ooze pus at the edges.

I tried to pull my hand out of his grip, but he pulled me back firmly. "I'm your doctor. You can't treat me like this." his eyes looked at me fixedly and made me unable to do anything against him.

I let him treat me, and then he went out without bringing his jacket, so I thought he would be back in a while. When the door opened again, I felt Ethan was back, but it wasn't Ethan. Diana, who walked over to my chair, made me sit straight in my place.

"What are you doing in this place?" I asked the woman who was Alex's mother.

Diana looked at me flatly. She was a figure that confused me. She never seemed to like me or hate me. "I heard you wanted to file for divorce with Alex, so I came to offer you a deal." She spoke matter-of-factly, typical of her earlier self.

I furrowed my brow, wondering what she was talking about. I stared at her in silence for a moment, then finally asked. "What are you talking about?"

"I want to offer you shares in the company if you have a child with Alex. You will have control of the company, which will make your presence count."

All of a sudden, she's offering that? Why? What's the reason? I looked at the woman strangely. What exactly was the woman offering? But she's not the kind of person who would lie. She always keeps his word.

I thought for a moment silently in my place, it was possible that I could give Alex a hard time with this, and I could also benefit from this. However, the thought of sleeping with him at this time disgusted me.

I raised my gaze to Diana. "You can see my current state. I'm not in a state that can decide for now."

The woman nodded her head. "Alright then, I'll give you some time. You can call me when you have the answer." After saying that, Diana walked out of my room.

As I thought about what Diana had offered seriously, Ethan, who had left my room earlier, came back in. Your eyes were glued to her, who continued to walk closer to me.

"What are you thinking about?" Ethan's deep voice made me blink my eyes at him. "I'll help you," she said, approaching and standing before me.

I smiled, looking at him. "Perfect, I found it."
