Killian’s POV

Elaine, Riley, and I sat comfortably in the living room, discussing everything from kingdom affairs to light-hearted gossip.

The warmth of our camaraderie was a welcome respite from the weight of recent events. Riley seemed more at ease, though she still fretted over her boss's reaction to the car accident.

"Thanks for being here, guys," Riley said, her smile soft but genuine. "I'm really worried about talking to my boss."

Elaine squeezed her hand. "We'll figure it out together. Maybe Jake can offer to cover the damages, considering it was his fault."

Riley nodded, her face thoughtful. "I hope he'll understand. I just don't want to lose my job."

"Just be honest," I suggested. "Bosses appreciate honesty and a willingness to take responsibility. We'll back you up."

As we settled back into our conversation, Jake, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, suddenly spoke up, his voice heavy with emotion.

"I can't keep this in any longer," he said, his tone serious and urgent.
