Chapter 51

Dante's POV  I had left Olivia to sleep, because she hadn't gotten much sleep last night. It was the least I could do. I smiled as I thought about last night and this morning.  I was waiting outside the motel for the towing company to bring back the car, fixed and ready for the road when my phone rang. Keisha's ID popped up on the screen and I frowned as the first thought in my mind was to ignore her call. I had tried to make it clear to her that I wasn't looking for anything serious, so I hope she didn't think we were. It also felt wrong to be speaking to her, so soon after my night with Olivia. It had been the best night of my life, maybe because I was having that moment with someone I actually loved.  I finally picked the call at the fourth ring, “Kei

Chapter 52

Dante's POV  As we waited for the surgery to begin, I couldn't help but wonder what the outcome of the surgery will be. Of course, I was optimistic, I didn't want my dad to die. But the doctor made everything seem like things were really bad. Dad was being moved to another section of the hospital, and we were all gathered in the waiting room, waiting for the results. Rhonda was pacing back and forth, her eyes fixed on the door. Olivia was sitting next to me, her hand in mine. I could feel her fear and worry, and I knew that she was trying to be strong for me. The doctor had told us to relax, but there was no way we were doing that. Landon, Olivia's dad, came in then. I guess Olivia had called him. He walked up

Chapter 53

Alex's POV  It had been a hell of a ride with my collapses, and two hospital visits in one month. I was eating my meal, with Rhonda insisting on feeding me, even though I was fully capable of eating myself. But it felt good to be cared for, even though I didn't want it to continue for long so I don't look like a weakling. Doctor Pepper, a very stoic doctor who had been my doctor for years came into my room. He came to give me a final checkup before the discharge. "You're looking good, Alex," he said with a smile.  “I feel good too.” I did with a smile. Dr Pepper nodded, “Does that mean you won't be visiting us again anytime soon?”

Chapter 54

Rhonda's pov I hired a nurse much to Alex's reluctance because I wasn't willing to take any chances with his health anymore. I walked into the sitting room, expecting to find Alex sitting in his favorite armchair. He had been asked to move from his bed once in a while, but instead, I was surprised to see Dante and Olivia sitting on the couch, looking at me with concerned expressions. "Hey, Rhonda," Dante said, standing up to give me a hug. "How are you doing?" I felt a pang of guilt as I realized I hadn't spoken to them about their journey since they got back from school. I had been so focused on Alex's health that I had neglected my children. "I'm sorry, g

Chapter 55

Olivia's POV As I stepped out of the sky pod and onto the familiar streets of SkyCity, I felt a mix of emotions. Excitement, nostalgia, and a hint of nervousness all swirled together in my chest. I had missed this place, and the people in it. Especially my friends at the Barnes. The Barnes was more than just a tavern – it was a hub of activity, a gathering place for the community. And I had been a part of it all, working there throughout high school and even after I left for college. But now, I was back, and I couldn't wait to see what had changed and what had stayed the same. As I made my way through the estate, I took in the sights and sounds of the bustling town. The sky pods zooming by, the chatter of pedestrians, the wail of sirens in the distance – it was a

Chapter 56

Olivia's POV I stood in the living room, looking at my family with excitement. The Christmas tree twinkled in the corner, and the fireplace crackled with warmth. "Hey guys, I have an idea," I said, trying to contain my enthusiasm. "I was thinking we could all go to the Barnes Tavern for the New Year's Eve special. I work there, and it would be so much fun to spend the evening together." My mom, Rhonda, looked at Alex, her expression concerned. She was sitting on the couch, her blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail, and her blue eyes sparkling with worry. "I don't know, Liv. Your stepdad just had a heart attack, and I don't want to leave him alone." Alex waved his hand dismissively, his brown hair messy and his green eyes twinkling with amusement. "I'm fine, Rhonda. I'm feeli

Chapter 57

Olivia's POVI sat at the bar, sipping my drink and feeling miserable. I had been thinking about Dante nonstop since our one night stand. I couldn't believe I had messed up again. "Alicia, I'm such an idiot," I said, turning to my friend. "I keep giving Dante mixed signals, and now he thinks I'm just a one night stand." Alicia put a hand on my arm. "Liv, don't be so hard on yourself. You're just scared." I shook my head. "I'm not scared, I'm just stupid. I keep pushing him away, and now he's gone." Alicia smiled. "He's not gone, Liv. He's right over there, looking at you like he can't live without you."

Chapter 58

SOPHIA'S POV  I had one major reason why I decided I wouldn't go home. The last thing I needed was to be back home in my drunkard mother's van and eat stale Mac and cheese that she got when she wasn't spending her money on drinks.  It was a tough life growing up indeed, and I badly wanted to do better.  To not become her.To give my child the best life has to offer. That was why I busted my ass off and studied till I almost drove insane, even with teachers who were not the most encouraging, because in my earlier years, I was as dull and slow as a slot.  However, I made it through graduation,

Chapter 59

ALEX'S POV I sighed heavily, gazing out the window at the garden I had grown to love. I was bored out of my mind, and I couldn't take it anymore. I had read every book in my study, and now I was itching to get back to my life. I felt like I was too young to be confined to this house, forced to take it easy after a mere heart attack. As I stared out the window, lost in thought, my nurse, Rachel, entered the room with a bright smile on her face. "Time for your medication, Alex!" she chimed. I raised an eyebrow, sarcasm dripping from my voice. "More drugs? Can't I just have a break from all this medication for once?" Rachel chuckled. "Not yet, Alex. You're still recovering. You need these medications to help your heart

Chapter 60

Dante's POV  I walked into the office feeling confident and prepared for my presentation. I had been given the project for over two weeks, but I had not been able to come up with any creative ideas, but after talking to my dad last night, everything had clicked into place. I was ready to nail this pitch and show my colleagues what I was capable of. I didn't just want to be seen as the boss's son, but a capable one. One who worthy of Addams name. As I headed towards the meeting room, I couldn't help but feel grateful to my dad. He had always been a source of inspiration and guidance for me, and I was lucky to have him in my life. I had just a few minutes to go, but I wanted to be in the meeting room before everyone. As I was about to enter the meeting room, I heard whisp
