The girl on the bed jolted with a start as she woke up from yet another nightmare she would never remember, the dream would be like fog disappearing at the light of dawn. Just like the others before them.
Her shaggy red hair was stark against her pale sweaty skin.
Yes, that girl is me, Ginny. You may have heard about me but then again maybe you haven’t, I don’t care. I just want to go back to bed and continue my lovely sleep.
Yes, I have a bed. TO MYSELF!
How awesome is that?!
I still can’t believe I don’t live in the woods while having to share a room with Stark and Briggs anymore. Since Maggie Dark Storm in her unconventional marriage to two Alphas adopted all of us as her children I have known nothing but comfort. And no I do not miss the woods. Who would give up the comfort of this soft, large bed for a grass mattress?
Anyways, looking at the clock opposite my bed, a groan escaped my lips as I realized I couldn’t go back to bed. It’s my first day of school. A fucking private school because Maggie is so rich that she can afford to send all the kids of our pack to private schools. I love Maggie, I mean she’s my new mom and she’s totally badass, but I don’t think she understands me yet. I will rather manage the bar with Cathy but Maggie wouldn’t hear a word of it so here I am on a Monday morning swinging my legs over the edge of my bed to go to the bathroom for my new day at school.
A few minutes later I came out wrapped in my towel to see that my new Princeton uniform had already been laid out. That’s another thing I can’t get used to. The housekeepers. They are like invisible minions that appear out of nowhere and get things done. Most of them are werewolves but a few of them are humans and you wouldn’t believe that they are oblivious to the fact that the occupants of the house in which they work are wolves. Can’t blame them though, poor human minds, so dull and fray. I bet they’ll lose their minds if they know.
That’s another reason I’m not too excited to attend school. Those humans are not really smart. Who knows I might become a star student on my first day of school. It’s hard being perfect, I’m already too much perfection than I can handle right now. Cue in the paparazzi.
But the uniform was nice. A short-sleeved button-up white shirt with the Princeton emblem, a short black skirt, and white socks. There was a black necktie laid out beside my blazer jacket too both of them with the Princeton emblem.
A small smile lifted the corner of my lip as I looked at the black skirt and an idea popped into my head. A little modification can’t hurt, right? I wondered to myself as I opened a drawer and took out a pair of scissors and a pack of safety pins. Half an hour later, I held up my skirt and admired my skills. I had cut up the skirt on one side almost up to the waistband and then joined the cut halves with my pins for the classic goth look. I will top that up with my black fishnets instead of Princeton’s Mary Poppins socks.
That modification finally brought a genuine smile to my face. “Princeton High say hello to Ginger fucking Dark Storm!”
I put on my uniform, hooked my lip ring and earrings, and examined my eye in the mirror. My eyebrow piercing was still healing. With any luck this week, it would heal and stop getting an infection. I knew I shouldn’t have trusted that sleazy stylist who convinced me to get it when I went to renew my lip piercing last month. Anyway, it will heal. I’m a werewolf.
When I went downstairs Leo was already at the table chowing down a bowl of cereals. My heart did a little flip. Leo was the only other teenage boy in the pack before Maggie Dark Storm took us in. We have been together since we were kids and I know we will be mates soon. The moon goddess lifted the curse on our kind.
I felt a blush creep up my face as I walked closer. He looked up.
“You tore up your skirt?”
He noticed! He’s beginning to notice things about me. I blushed.
“Maggie spent a lot of money on that Ginny,” he scolded.
I rolled my eyes and sat down beside him, doing my best to cuddle up to his warmth. His young body was so strong already and my young pussy was creamy in anticipation for when we mate.
“Maggie has enough money I’m sure she doesn’t mind.”
“Doesn’t mind what?”
I looked up and saw Lance coming into the dining room with Stark holding his hand. Lance is one of my adoptive father’s and I’m still getting used to him as my dad. I mean he did betray Maggie once before but she took him back and mated with him and Asher, the second Alpha. Now Maggie is getting her pussy grilled by two hot Alphas. She is one lucky wolf. Don’t get me wrong Leo is enough for me.
“Ginny tore up her skirt.”
“Why would you do that?”
“Because goth is my style. Can you not try to baby me, Lance? I am 17 going 18 next week!”
“But you will always be my baby.”
It was Asher. He was coming in behind Lance. It was then I noticed the look on both their faces. They looked pleased. Too pleased. I’m guessing the coochie appointment with Maggie this morning was a huge success.
I rolled my eyes at Asher. I will not be taking advice or pampering from two men who love to stay locked up with their Luna all day and night. Don’t they ever get tired?
I mocked Asher’s words with a roll of my eyes.
“Princeton is a very prestigious school,” Leo continued to scold me. “I don’t think they’ll take kindly to you ruining their uniform.”
I was suddenly annoyed by Leo’s attitude. “Since when did you get so boring?” I asked as I moved into another seat beside Stark.
“Since I finally got lucky enough to have parents.”
Lance smiled at Leo and patted his shoulder. There was something very touching and emotional about that smile. He also looked like he was proud of Leo for acknowledging him as a father. I rolled my eyes again for the millionth time that day. Whatever, I don't owe anyone anything.
“Are you guys going to eat cereal for breakfast? Steph made some muffins last night you can have those.”
“We might be late if we waste any more time. Noah is waiting downstairs for us already.” Leo was already getting up. I had no choice but to do the same after grabbing a few bites of dry cereal and drinking cold milk on it.
“Alright then take enough money for lunch,” Lance said as he pulled out a wad of cash that would probably add up to $1000. I snatched it out of his hands and kissed his cheek.
“Thanks, Dad.”
He shook his head at me with a smile. Leo was flying out the front door with his school bag and I hurried after him waving at Stark.
“Bye Stark, tell everyone bye for me okay?”
She waved. Stark doesn’t talk much. She’s quite odd. Shut up, I’m not odd I’m just a goth kid. But Stark is odd with her white hair and pale gray eyes. She rarely speaks but when she does she speaks like a wise old woman. And she has taken a liking to Lance. She called him dad first before the rest of us.
Noah, the werewolf Maggie assigned as our driver and bodyguard, was waiting by the car when we got outside. He wore a suit and his signature frown. Honestly, he’s hot and fucking handsome but I doubt I’ll find him attractive if he keeps frowning that much.
His frown deepened at the sight of my uniform. “Miss Ginny…”
“You are not paid to make comments about my uniform Noah.”
Whatever he was going to say disappeared down his throat as he clenched his teeth hard and offered a hard smile. “Right. Get in the car you’re almost late.”
I slammed the door. “Play something. If I must endure school I might as well listen to something to make it fucking bearable.”
“No death metal in this car,” Noah growled.
“Who said anything about death metal? Put Kelly Rowland’s Dilemma on.”
He grudgingly put it on. And I immediately melted. I won’t apologize for being a hopeless romantic. As the music started I glanced at Leo hoping he would see that I was trying to speak to him through the music but he was looking at his new phone, scrolling through pages of social media.
I sighed. Will he ever see me as his potential mate?
As I looked away from him my eyes caught Noah’s staring at me through the rearview mirror as he pulled out of the drive.
I scowled. “What are you looking at?”
Noah pulled up in front of the school and I tilted my neck back to look up at the imposing building.“Wow. It’s huge,” Leo said in awe.I glanced at him from the side of my eye with a cocked brow. Since when did Leo become a nerd? He used to be the biggest playboy back when we lived in the woods. I lost count of the number of girlfriends he had but I let him run wild because I know that at the end of the day, he will find his way home. With me.But I have to agree with him, the school really was huge, a 30,000 square-foot construction bordered by natural forest. It was set in private land no doubt owned by a monarch or someone equivalent. The walls of the school were done in shades of grey, white, and black to match the uniform. Kill me now this looks like a prison.A total of 12 country flags lined the front of what I assume to be the administrative building and I’m going to call bull right now and say that Princeton doesn’t have schools in those 12 countries so why have so many flag
“Uh…is it just me or are these people checking us out?” I wondered aloud as Leo and I walked to a second-row seat. Let me let you in on a little secret, some wolves can read minds but that’s not something I am blessed with. Leo never talks about his powers but mine -? Let’s just say it’s a little strange. But what I lack in mind reading, I more than make up for with my ability to read people’s faces and I just wish these people staring didn’t all have the same bland expression on their faces.Leo shrugged nonchalantly, he didn’t seem to mind being the center of attention. “They are staring. It’s normal, we are the new kids.”“Well, they don’t have to stare like we are exhibitions at the museum.”As we took our seats, Leo suddenly leaned in closer. This is the first time in my life that he has ever been this close since we both became teenagers and he became a playboy. My heart picked up pace and my eyes drifted down to his luscious lips, this would be a good time to stake my claim and
“You like her?” I whispered to Leo while we joined the others in getting out of the hall. The blonde guy who had told us where to sit was far ahead and I’m taking a wild guess here by thinking he is in my class. And from the looks of it, I may be right. We passed the junior block and walked down a hallway with a square courtyard on one side into the senior block. Just down that hallway was the notice board where a group of Class 1 to 3 seniors were checking out the info on the notice board. I didn’t miss the curious glances many of the students passed my way. Believe me, I’m not an attention seeker but I can never seem to go anywhere without pulling attention. As we turned past a column, one of the four columns set at the edge of another courtyard with grass and flowers, Leo caught my gaze. “Like who?” “Emmy,” I tried to hide the envy in my voice. He frowned. “Who’s Emmy?” “The girl who sat in front of us at the assembly. You said she was pretty.” “Oh, she? Yeah, she is, any pro
So we had classes right off the bat. Princeton isn’t joking about educating her students. As you may have deduced from my assignment to class A, I am pretty intelligent. I know you probably thought otherwise since you see how dumb I can be where Leo is concerned and how much I hate school but it’s not a big deal.Knowing the secrets of everyone in school was quite interesting, Lindsay likes to talk and she wasted no time dishing out the most juicy secrets, even those of the staff. It was kind of interesting getting to know my classmates through the secrets I know about them and while that made class tolerable, the stinging feeling at the back of my neck made it very much unbearable.Whose decision was it to put the redhead stalker in Class A?I looked behind me and there he was hiding behind his History textbook pretending to read while he was actually peeping off the edge and staring at me. I frowned to make him know I was watching and for a second he hid behind his book again.Mr. D
I stormed outside crushing grass beneath my boots and not caring at all if anyone saw me marching angrily to confront yet another person who wouldn’t leave me alone.“What do you want?” I demanded at the top of my voice.“You?”I almost tripped over my feet at that quiet and unexpected response. “What?!”“I’m here to make sure you stay and behave.”“And who are you to do that?” I asked indignantly, crossing my hands across my chest. Somewhere from the side of my eyes, I saw curious students watching inconspicuously from the lunchroom. Lindsay had made her way outside and was standing behind me.“Your bodyguard. I’m doing my job. Now get back in there.”“I don’t have to listen to someone who is paid to stalk me! You get out and stop trying to make me look like a fool.”His eyes traveled down the length of my gothic appearance down to my pinned skirt and boots. “You are doing a good job of that yourself.”His calm voice gritted on my nerves making me angrier. Isn’t stalking illegal? And
Once again she woke up with no recollection whatsoever of her dream. She probably will never remember. Yup that’s me. I sat up in my bed realizing that I must have fallen asleep last night while listening to my romantic playlist. One look at the je clock told me it was time to get my ass out of the bed and start getting ready for a school. I swung my legs over the edge of my bed and went to the bathroom to brush and clean up. My phone was low because I had been using it throughout the night which means I can forget about taking it to school with me. My laptop was still plugged to the power source. I frowned. No that’s not right. I didn’t plug it in last night. It had been full when I turned it on and still had more that half the battery when I turned it off. Beside the laptop on the table was an empty packet of chocolate chips cookies. I don’t eat chocolate chips cookies but whoever ate the one on my desk definitely enjoyed it because there was not so much as a crumb remaining.
I shot to my feet, furious, “What is it, creep?!”From the front of the middle aisle, the Librarian hushed loudly. Good thing she couldn’t see me, she would have likely thrown me out of the library if she knew what I looked like.Colin made sure the book was safely secure, he almost touched it reverently like a sacred book before rising to his feet. His eyes were a sharp brown and I suspect those eyes miss nothing. Strangely I could almost feel his gaze piercing my skin down to my bones.I tried not to feel uncomfortable so I wiped my frown and replaced it with a naughty smile. “I think I know what this is. Do you want to fuck the new student or are you here to fuck me up too?”He raised his head and his eyes widened. “I would never think myself worthy of such a thing, my lady.”Da fuck? His response stunned me to silence and for a second I could only stare at him. Then the urge to laugh came and somehow I found the strength to staunch it.Maybe Colin has a brain trauma or maybe he’s
We got home right after Stark and Briggs. Lance had just taken them inside from the private middle school Maggie enrolled them in. I slammed the door shut and made my less-than-quiet entry into the house, more than ready to get rid of my uniform, and put on some ripped jeans and a loose shirt. Asher has the best t-shirts shirts and I love to steal them, and though he complains and threatens me any time one of them gets missing, he never actually does anything.I passed Mason and Steph’s boys watching cartoons in the sitting room with Edna and Jayden’s sons.“Hi Ginny,” they greeted me as I made my way up the stairs.“Hello boys, how was school today?”Their responses ranged from ‘Great’ to ‘It was alright ' and ‘I didn’t like it.’ And I couldn't relate more to the last response.I was off to my bedroom before Leo got to his and by the time I dressed up in my suitable choice of clothes I was hungry and ready to devour 5 double burgers. Luckily, Steph who loves to cook, had made some pi
Imagine my surprise and satisfaction when I saw that my laptop remained right where I had locked it. At least I know for sure that whoever has been sneaking into my room to use my stuff doesn’t know that I locked it. I should probably keep locking it from now on. As I pulled the laptop out of my drawer I thought about the possibility that it was Stark who had been coming into my room to use my laptop but Maggie had gotten one for her too and I know Stark well enough to know that she wouldn’t use my stuff without telling me. Besides whoever has been using my laptop has been checking stuff about school so that completely rules out any possibility that Stark is behind this. So I have come to one natural conclusion, someone snuck into my room. Whoever that person is is behind the chocolate chips cookies I found in my room and the same person used my computer to log into our class group chat. That person obviously has a grudge against Emerald. Now that one is not a surprise.Emerald has ma
I sat back in the seat thinking about what I had just seen. “No, there’s nothing to talk about.” Noah said nothing but I felt his eyes on me when be backed out of the street and went back out through the secret road and joined the main traffic again. I was wrong about Lindsay. I thought she was an annoying rich girl struggling to climb the social ladder in school. I thought she was treating me as a pity case, trying to befriend the outcast like a social savior of some sort. But her life was far from that she was…sad. Very sad. I couldn’t get the image of her toasting her sandwich in the pan and the sound of her tears from my mind. Why was she crying? Did even need to ask? Wasn’t it obvious? The way she hurried to make sure the vase was okay…I don’t know what else to think. I slumped back in the seat and reached into my boots for the note that I stuffed there. Who could have written it? Emerald had many enemies and anyone could be one of them. “Whatever you are thinking about,
I don’t know when the thought came but I remember thinking that whoever Lindsay’s driver is needs to be sacked for not noticing us behind him. If someone was behind us and Noah failed to notice I know I’ll be telling Maggie to replace him. The way it is though, I don’t think Noah will ever be caught lacking. The man is a true wolf and nothing misses his attention. The silver car went off the road and moved along a lone road toward private property and I expected Noah to go after it but surprisingly he went past the private road and continued to drive down. I sat up in the seat to glare at him. “We were following that car!” “And we are still following it.” “Yeah we were until you stopped going after it. It turned a corner right there.” “And that corner leads to a private road. I’m guessing you don’t want the girl in that car knowing that you are trailing her. This is the best way to prevent her from discovering that her classmate is a stalker.” “So how do you intend to find them
I couldn’t wait for the final bell and when it did ring I grabbed my books and shoved them into my bag, hurrying to get up and leave. If I leave early I can make it and do what I have to do.I know you are curious to know what that is, you will find out soon enough. Right now, I think what I am about to do is extremely dangerous and if I get caught , well, I don’t think I’ll be in too much trouble, I just think everyone in school will think I’m even weirder than they do now.I hurried to the pack and sure enough there was Noah as early as ever. I was about to smile, feeling that rush of warmth in my body again, when my joy was cut short when Miss Aurora ran across the pack to the car. She put her arms around Noah’s neck right in front of everyone who cared to look at them. She was smiling when she pulled back and as I got to them I heard them talking.“Thanks for last night,” she was saying.“It’s nothing,” Noah said in his sexy deep voice.Miss Aurora’s eyes were bright as she looked
I jerked my arm free from Colin’s hold as soon as he swung the door of the art room close. The place smelled of paint and wood and brushes and many of the easels were covered with tarps. The place looked airy since it was currently not in use, which was why the windows were shut.At least Colin hadn’t locked the door. Even if he did I’m sure that whatever he is I am faster than him with my wolf powers.“What’s the big idea?” I demanded.“The fact that you’re stalking me or the fact that you are surprise I actually noticed?”“That’s not an answer to my question,” I said defensively.“Why are you following me?”I scoffed. “What makes you think I am following you, Colin?” I crossed my hands in front of me and glared at him. “What do you have to hide?”He didn’t answer quickly. He was careful, watching my face as if he was trying to decide how much I knew. Not much from my perspective. In fact, I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to know. I didn’t know what to think; first his odd behavior
By two in the afternoon the bell went off. Our next period was gym class. When we picked our subjects for our entrance exam into Princeton, I skipped gym because I kinda thought it would be unfair to surpass these poor human kids with my supernatural powers. Leo was on the football team. I don’t know how he plans to manage his powers when he has to play in slow motion with pathetic human speed.I’m sure he will figure it out though. He is not my concern right now.My target was moving out of class and I made sure I got behind him while still keeping a safe distance away. I didn’t want to lose him in case he slipped into the shadows or hid among students moving up and down the hall. Also the last thing I want is for him to notice I was onto him.I knew where he was heading to but I just couldn’t let him out of my sight. He turned around a corner same as other people. I did the same but waited a few feet behind so that he wouldn’t sense me. After a few minutes of walking we passed anoth
“Did Parker just leave after spending like 10 minutes with you?”I looked up to see Lindsay’s awe. She looked like Taylor Swift just offered her a ticket to her concert. She pushed the chair Parker just stood up from and very reverently lowered herself on it. I fought hard against rolling my eyes. Any second from now she might get home and take the chair to a museum because you know, Parker Farrell sat on it.“He did. What about that?”“I didn’t expect him to move on so soon and even if he was, I didn’t think you would be his next option.”I eyed her from the corner of my eyes. “Did ever occur to you that he came to pickup from where his girlfriend stopped?”She shrugged. “I don’t know, it never did. Maybe because Todd came over to talk to me. I didn’t think he even knew my name but he congratulated me on my promotion from C to A class.”I watched her go on and on about Todd while my mind drifted off to Parker. He was on his seat and Keith and come to join him. They were talking and l
Still not saying a word to each other, Leo and I got out of the car and made our way into the school building. There was a change in the atmosphere and was expected and everyone was silently moving from the front doors to the assembly hall. And in the assembly hall the administrators and teachers stood on the stage waiting as students filled in the seats. I went upstairs leaving Leo behind and took a seat away from him. My other classmates began to troop into the hall and leading then was Parker, Todd, Keith, Lizzie and Jeannie. Jeannie’s nose was red as if she had been blowing her nose all night but strangely her eyes were as dry as a desert. She looked up and saw Leo and immediately left her group of friends to hook her arm through his, that was the only time any sign of tears appeared in her eyes as she clung to him. “It’s so awful,” I heard her say. “I don’t think I can stand being here knowing that only a few hours ago Emerald had an accident here.” She turned her big blue eyes
Leo was downstairs having breakfast and he was sort of taking his time since the rain was still coming down heavily. I ignored breakfast because I didn’t want to sit at the table with him, I might just kill him if I do.I went into the kitchen instead where Maggie was holding a blueberry muffin for me.“I had a feeling you were going to skip breakfast this morning.”“I’ll be fine.” But I took the muffin and took a bite before dropping it on the kitchen counter in favor of a bottle of water. For some reason I couldn’t stomach food and it had everything to do with Emerald’s death. How can Leo who is actually friends with her bear to eat?“Should I keep that for later?” Maggie asked worried.“Uh – uh,” I said.I just couldn’t wait to get out of the house and so I snapped the hood of my sweater over my head and went outside to the garage through the kitchen door. Noah was waiting as always, dressed in suit, again. Almost immediately all thoughts about Emerald flew out of the window and I
