Once again she woke up with no recollection whatsoever of her dream. She probably will never remember.
Yup that’s me.
I sat up in my bed realizing that I must have fallen asleep last night while listening to my romantic playlist. One look at the je clock told me it was time to get my ass out of the bed and start getting ready for a school. I swung my legs over the edge of my bed and went to the bathroom to brush and clean up. My phone was low because I had been using it throughout the night which means I can forget about taking it to school with me. My laptop was still plugged to the power source.
I frowned.
No that’s not right. I didn’t plug it in last night. It had been full when I turned it on and still had more that half the battery when I turned it off.
Beside the laptop on the table was an empty packet of chocolate chips cookies.
I don’t eat chocolate chips cookies but whoever ate the one on my desk definitely enjoyed it because there was not so much as a crumb remaining. But that wasn’t the problem. The real problem here was that someone came into my room to use my computer and didn’t clean up after themselves.
I hurriedly put on the rest of my uniform and slipped my boots on before running out of the room to confront everyone.
The rest of the pack was up and moving already and Lance and Mason were in the dinning room with the younger ones getting them ready for school. Leo was just coming downstairs.
“What’s the problem? You seem uptight.”
“Yeah because someone came into my room last night and forgot to clean up after themselves!” I shot out brandishing the packet of cookies in my hand. “Who snuck into my room last night?”
“I don’t think anyone wants is brave enough to do that without having their heads off.”
“Just what do you mean by that, Leo?”
“I’m just saying you’ve been sour since last night. Coming into your room was off limits for everyone.”
“Yeah well I’ve been sour because everyone is testing my patience.”
Lance looked up from where he was feeding Freddy, Mason’s son. “Did you leave your door open last night?”
“I did. So someone came in. Also everyone here knows I hate chocolate so who came into my room?”
They all shrugged. I squeezed the packet in my hand.
“Fine. That’s how it’s going to be? I’ll be locking my room from now on.”
I went to the kitchen to discard the wrapper and stalked angrily outside without having anything from the dining table. Noah was waiting by the car when I got out and he avoided my gaze.
“Aren’t you going to point out the fact that I am early this morning?”
He was silent for a few seconds then a smile tugged the side of his mouth up and he finally met my gaze. “Do you want to me to stay out of your lane or what?”
Oh I see he’s trying to be a smart ass. “Out of it.”
“Then I am not going to make any comments.”
“That’s a first for you.” Leo was still taking breakfast inside and it was still too early to hurry to school. “What changed? Miss Aurora? Did you call her? Have you made any plans to meet and fuck yet?”
“I don’t think that’s any of your business.”
I nodded with a small laugh. “That’s fair. You stay out of my business and I stay out of yours.” I wasn’t satisfied with his answer but I didn’t push.
Noah was watching me with an amused expression. “You are not very hostile today.”
I eyed him suspiciously. “Should I be?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know. You wear your attitude like a second skin, did you take it off?”
“Yes and I put it in the laundry. What happened to staying in your lane while I stay in mine?”
“You are right. My apologies Miss Dark Storm.” I don’t know if he was being sarcastic with that response but he stepped back and opened the door for me. “You can get in.”
As I moved to enter the car our hands brushed and right then something charged through me. I paused for a second, too shocked to get into the car or do anything else but stare and wondered if he felt it too. And he did. It was in the slight widening of his eyes which he quickly concealed. But he couldn’t hide the furrowing of his brows.
I don’t know how to explain it but it felt like a dull voltage running from the point of contact through the rest of my body. I never felt anything like that with anyone, not even Leo.
What is this? Why should I feel it with Noah?
I tried to speak but nothing came to my mind only the face that Noah and I just felt something and neither of us knew what to do about it.
“Get in the car, Ginny.”
His voice was suddenly hoarse and when he looked away and broke the moment. He walked away from the door and I stared after him still not sure of what to say.
Then Leo came barreling through the door with his bag in his hand and he charged straight to the car and slid into the other side. I noticed a movement upstairs and looked to find Asher standing in front of his window with a huge frown on his face as he took in the sight before his eyes.
Did he see that moment pass between Noah and me? He probably did, maybe that’s why he’s frowning.
He noticed me staring and smiled with a wave. “Have a nice day at school,” he yelled.
“Sure.”
There was nothing sure about anything. My life was…something was changing. Somehow the routine of my life was shifting.
“Music?” Noah asked and I noticed he was avoiding my gaze.
“Yes. Just play anything,” Leo said.
And so we made our journey to Princeton. Cars of different models and sizes pulled up into the parking lot, many of those had tinted glasses. The parking lot was a sea of students coming out of cars and walking into the school building. Leo and I did the same and the first person I saw was Emerald.
Looks like my day is off to a terrible start.
“So you came back,” She said almost as soon as she saw me. She was coming closer and I noticed her heeled shoes no wonder she looks taller. Her jet black hair was a straight curtain behind her shoulders. “Yesterday wasn’t enough to send you running?”
“It will take more than that to send me running, Emerald.”
“You don’t belong here.”
“Is there a law about that?”
I was surprised to hear Noah’s voice as he stepped out from the driver’s side. Emerald’s eyes drifted over to him and lit up with interest.
“And you are the bodyguard unfortunate enough to be stuck with this… what do I call you? Ariel on crack? Gin?”
“It’s Ginny,” I bit out through my teeth. “And yes, he gets paid to follow me around and he’ll do it.”
“I see.” She moved up close and whispered so that only the two of us would hear but it was useless since Leo and Noah are both wolves and could easily hear anything she has to say. “Just because you’ve been adopted into wealth doesn’t make you one of us. When I say you don’t belong here, I mean it. I’ll make you regret coming back, Gin.”
“It’s Ginny.”
“Whatever dehydrated Ariel.” She looked past me over my shoulder and smiled sweetly at Leo. “Let’s get to the hall shall we?”
I watched them walk away. Leo had a spring in his steps as they walked with their hips bumping. Parker who just got out of the passenger seat of his Mustang frowned as he saw them walking into the building. The bleached Rapunzels were right behind them.
Noah had a concerned look on his face when I turned to shut the car door.
“Are you alright?”
“I’ll survive.” I replied. Leo’s behavior was expected. Anything in skirts was a potential sex partner for him and when he’s bored with Emerald he will cast her aside for one of her friends. If she doesn’t cast him off first. For now he’s not my problem anymore.
“Are you sure?” Noah asked again.
I swung my annoyed glare his way. “Yes I am.” And as I passed him I whispered in his ear. “Stay out of my way. I can handle myself.” I stopped to pass him a side glare and caught his hazel blue eyes staring at me.
He raised his hand in surrender. “Fine.”
“And try not to hang around school. I promised Maggie I’ll stay. Besides, you’ll look like a fucking idiot. Go hunt something.”
“I wasn’t planning to stay. I have a date.”
I stopped short. “With Miss Aurora?”
“It’s none of your business.”
He nudged my shoulder as he opened the door and got in with a mock salute and started the car.
With Miss Aurora?!
I shot to my feet, furious, “What is it, creep?!”From the front of the middle aisle, the Librarian hushed loudly. Good thing she couldn’t see me, she would have likely thrown me out of the library if she knew what I looked like.Colin made sure the book was safely secure, he almost touched it reverently like a sacred book before rising to his feet. His eyes were a sharp brown and I suspect those eyes miss nothing. Strangely I could almost feel his gaze piercing my skin down to my bones.I tried not to feel uncomfortable so I wiped my frown and replaced it with a naughty smile. “I think I know what this is. Do you want to fuck the new student or are you here to fuck me up too?”He raised his head and his eyes widened. “I would never think myself worthy of such a thing, my lady.”Da fuck? His response stunned me to silence and for a second I could only stare at him. Then the urge to laugh came and somehow I found the strength to staunch it.Maybe Colin has a brain trauma or maybe he’s
We got home right after Stark and Briggs. Lance had just taken them inside from the private middle school Maggie enrolled them in. I slammed the door shut and made my less-than-quiet entry into the house, more than ready to get rid of my uniform, and put on some ripped jeans and a loose shirt. Asher has the best t-shirts shirts and I love to steal them, and though he complains and threatens me any time one of them gets missing, he never actually does anything.I passed Mason and Steph’s boys watching cartoons in the sitting room with Edna and Jayden’s sons.“Hi Ginny,” they greeted me as I made my way up the stairs.“Hello boys, how was school today?”Their responses ranged from ‘Great’ to ‘It was alright ' and ‘I didn’t like it.’ And I couldn't relate more to the last response.I was off to my bedroom before Leo got to his and by the time I dressed up in my suitable choice of clothes I was hungry and ready to devour 5 double burgers. Luckily, Steph who loves to cook, had made some pi
“You look so worked up this morning,” Lind observed as she came to my desk after the first class. Although we had gone to the hall earlier that day, there had been no assembly and so we had been sent right to class.“What happened?” She asked as she slid on my desk.“Someone ate chocolate chip cookies in my room.”Lindsay gave her a funny look. “Okay?” She drawled wondering where the conversation was headed. “You have siblings, what’s the big deal?”“And Emerald has drawn the line. She made it obvious she doesn’t want me here. She said as much this morning at the parking lot which is funny because Leo is literally with me and she’s not saying the same to him.”“Because he’s hot and you know that. Also why do you sound jealous? He’s your brother.”“Adoptive brother.”“Same difference.”I rolled my eyes. “You don’t understand. Leo and I are meant to be together.”She cocked her brows. “What in the ‘Help Me Stepbrother I’m Stuck’ is going on here?”“You don’t understand, Lind so don’t wo
What the…?Why do I have to step out?I could have pretended I wasn’t in the hall but Leo was staring at me, Lindsay was staring, Emerald was looking right at me with a smug expression, even Parker had turned in his seat to stare and the rest of my class was staring.Alright! You idiots, thanks for not covering me.“Ginger? You are in the hall, there’s no use hiding now. Step out,” Mary’s voice was forceful.I sucked in a deep breath to quell my beating heart. It was beating fast enough I’m surprised it hasn’t leapt out of my chest yet. And the hall was awfully quiet, so silent that a pin drop would have sounded like a bomb.I made my way to the stage I closed my eyes, regretting my decision to put on boots, I should have put on some flats. My shoes made heavy clicking sounds on the floor and in the silent hall it sounded like a judge’s gravel sealing my fate.Mary’s face was pinched as she took in my disfigured skirt and fishnets and I knew immediately why I had been called out.“Sta
I realized with a groan that I had just revealed our secret when her jaw dropped.“Fuck!” I cursed and threw the scissors in the ceramic. “Lindsay forget everything I just said.”“No fucking way! You are wolves?”“And you don’t think I’m lying?!” I asked wondering at the state of her mind.“No fucking way. Especially not when you just manifested a scissors out of thin air, there is no way you are lying about this.”I gripped the edge of the sink and debated within myself whether or not to wipe her memory. It’s something I can do if I put enough effort into it. The only downside is that wiping memories does something to me and I never can explain. Still it was worth a try given the severity of my actions. I have only known Lindsay for two days, there’s no assurance that she won’t spread my secret in excitement. I mean come on, how often do you meet a werewolf without freaking out?And Lindsay is an Outty, exposing my secrets will give her some popularity points and I hate to be the sac
Even before school ended everyone already saw the message and were whispering among themselves. Before long I could feel eyes boring into my back. Funny isn’t it? People will believe anything but I bet you can’t blame them when there’s no means of defense. How do I tell everyone that I didn’t send that message?I know what you are thinking. This as good a chance as I can get to get my revenge on her and while I can’t deny that, let me ask you, would you rather sink low to your enemy’s level or will you rise above their insecurities?I know nothing but Emerald’s fear and insecurities compelled her to send that message to the group chat. She could have easily sent that message through her phone and framed it this way; “I bet Ginny Dark Storm thinks I’m a bitch” but by sending it through my phone she will get sympathy and the people on her side while pitting them against me.By the time the final bell rang everyone’s phones was beeping and Mrs. Handers had to leave the class quickly.I t
The idiot woke up from her sleep with no recollection of what she had been dreaming about.Yes, you already know I am Ginny. I woke up feeling like I just recovered from a night of drinking and it wasn’t a good feeling. My head felt heavy and the vein in my temple throbbed badly. When I tried to open my eyes, I realized my lashes were crusty and that was when it all came back to me.I cried to sleep last night and it was all because of what Leo said. Even now with the early morning taste in my mouth, I still felt the urge to cry some more. It hurt really bad, so bad that I thought my chest was going to cave in. Was Leo so blind to everything Emerald did to me since I got into the school? I guess I shouldn’t blame him, she is after all his next challenge. When he gets into her pussy, he will move on to the next, maybe Jeannie and Lizzie. Why does he hate me so much? Can’t he see how much he means to me?And then what happened next?I couldn’t remember as I stood up from the floor where
Leo was downstairs having breakfast and he was sort of taking his time since the rain was still coming down heavily. I ignored breakfast because I didn’t want to sit at the table with him, I might just kill him if I do.I went into the kitchen instead where Maggie was holding a blueberry muffin for me.“I had a feeling you were going to skip breakfast this morning.”“I’ll be fine.” But I took the muffin and took a bite before dropping it on the kitchen counter in favor of a bottle of water. For some reason I couldn’t stomach food and it had everything to do with Emerald’s death. How can Leo who is actually friends with her bear to eat?“Should I keep that for later?” Maggie asked worried.“Uh – uh,” I said.I just couldn’t wait to get out of the house and so I snapped the hood of my sweater over my head and went outside to the garage through the kitchen door. Noah was waiting as always, dressed in suit, again. Almost immediately all thoughts about Emerald flew out of the window and I
Imagine my surprise and satisfaction when I saw that my laptop remained right where I had locked it. At least I know for sure that whoever has been sneaking into my room to use my stuff doesn’t know that I locked it. I should probably keep locking it from now on. As I pulled the laptop out of my drawer I thought about the possibility that it was Stark who had been coming into my room to use my laptop but Maggie had gotten one for her too and I know Stark well enough to know that she wouldn’t use my stuff without telling me. Besides whoever has been using my laptop has been checking stuff about school so that completely rules out any possibility that Stark is behind this. So I have come to one natural conclusion, someone snuck into my room. Whoever that person is is behind the chocolate chips cookies I found in my room and the same person used my computer to log into our class group chat. That person obviously has a grudge against Emerald. Now that one is not a surprise.Emerald has ma
I sat back in the seat thinking about what I had just seen. “No, there’s nothing to talk about.” Noah said nothing but I felt his eyes on me when be backed out of the street and went back out through the secret road and joined the main traffic again. I was wrong about Lindsay. I thought she was an annoying rich girl struggling to climb the social ladder in school. I thought she was treating me as a pity case, trying to befriend the outcast like a social savior of some sort. But her life was far from that she was…sad. Very sad. I couldn’t get the image of her toasting her sandwich in the pan and the sound of her tears from my mind. Why was she crying? Did even need to ask? Wasn’t it obvious? The way she hurried to make sure the vase was okay…I don’t know what else to think. I slumped back in the seat and reached into my boots for the note that I stuffed there. Who could have written it? Emerald had many enemies and anyone could be one of them. “Whatever you are thinking about,
I don’t know when the thought came but I remember thinking that whoever Lindsay’s driver is needs to be sacked for not noticing us behind him. If someone was behind us and Noah failed to notice I know I’ll be telling Maggie to replace him. The way it is though, I don’t think Noah will ever be caught lacking. The man is a true wolf and nothing misses his attention. The silver car went off the road and moved along a lone road toward private property and I expected Noah to go after it but surprisingly he went past the private road and continued to drive down. I sat up in the seat to glare at him. “We were following that car!” “And we are still following it.” “Yeah we were until you stopped going after it. It turned a corner right there.” “And that corner leads to a private road. I’m guessing you don’t want the girl in that car knowing that you are trailing her. This is the best way to prevent her from discovering that her classmate is a stalker.” “So how do you intend to find them
I couldn’t wait for the final bell and when it did ring I grabbed my books and shoved them into my bag, hurrying to get up and leave. If I leave early I can make it and do what I have to do.I know you are curious to know what that is, you will find out soon enough. Right now, I think what I am about to do is extremely dangerous and if I get caught , well, I don’t think I’ll be in too much trouble, I just think everyone in school will think I’m even weirder than they do now.I hurried to the pack and sure enough there was Noah as early as ever. I was about to smile, feeling that rush of warmth in my body again, when my joy was cut short when Miss Aurora ran across the pack to the car. She put her arms around Noah’s neck right in front of everyone who cared to look at them. She was smiling when she pulled back and as I got to them I heard them talking.“Thanks for last night,” she was saying.“It’s nothing,” Noah said in his sexy deep voice.Miss Aurora’s eyes were bright as she looked
I jerked my arm free from Colin’s hold as soon as he swung the door of the art room close. The place smelled of paint and wood and brushes and many of the easels were covered with tarps. The place looked airy since it was currently not in use, which was why the windows were shut.At least Colin hadn’t locked the door. Even if he did I’m sure that whatever he is I am faster than him with my wolf powers.“What’s the big idea?” I demanded.“The fact that you’re stalking me or the fact that you are surprise I actually noticed?”“That’s not an answer to my question,” I said defensively.“Why are you following me?”I scoffed. “What makes you think I am following you, Colin?” I crossed my hands in front of me and glared at him. “What do you have to hide?”He didn’t answer quickly. He was careful, watching my face as if he was trying to decide how much I knew. Not much from my perspective. In fact, I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to know. I didn’t know what to think; first his odd behavior
By two in the afternoon the bell went off. Our next period was gym class. When we picked our subjects for our entrance exam into Princeton, I skipped gym because I kinda thought it would be unfair to surpass these poor human kids with my supernatural powers. Leo was on the football team. I don’t know how he plans to manage his powers when he has to play in slow motion with pathetic human speed.I’m sure he will figure it out though. He is not my concern right now.My target was moving out of class and I made sure I got behind him while still keeping a safe distance away. I didn’t want to lose him in case he slipped into the shadows or hid among students moving up and down the hall. Also the last thing I want is for him to notice I was onto him.I knew where he was heading to but I just couldn’t let him out of my sight. He turned around a corner same as other people. I did the same but waited a few feet behind so that he wouldn’t sense me. After a few minutes of walking we passed anoth
“Did Parker just leave after spending like 10 minutes with you?”I looked up to see Lindsay’s awe. She looked like Taylor Swift just offered her a ticket to her concert. She pushed the chair Parker just stood up from and very reverently lowered herself on it. I fought hard against rolling my eyes. Any second from now she might get home and take the chair to a museum because you know, Parker Farrell sat on it.“He did. What about that?”“I didn’t expect him to move on so soon and even if he was, I didn’t think you would be his next option.”I eyed her from the corner of my eyes. “Did ever occur to you that he came to pickup from where his girlfriend stopped?”She shrugged. “I don’t know, it never did. Maybe because Todd came over to talk to me. I didn’t think he even knew my name but he congratulated me on my promotion from C to A class.”I watched her go on and on about Todd while my mind drifted off to Parker. He was on his seat and Keith and come to join him. They were talking and l
Still not saying a word to each other, Leo and I got out of the car and made our way into the school building. There was a change in the atmosphere and was expected and everyone was silently moving from the front doors to the assembly hall. And in the assembly hall the administrators and teachers stood on the stage waiting as students filled in the seats. I went upstairs leaving Leo behind and took a seat away from him. My other classmates began to troop into the hall and leading then was Parker, Todd, Keith, Lizzie and Jeannie. Jeannie’s nose was red as if she had been blowing her nose all night but strangely her eyes were as dry as a desert. She looked up and saw Leo and immediately left her group of friends to hook her arm through his, that was the only time any sign of tears appeared in her eyes as she clung to him. “It’s so awful,” I heard her say. “I don’t think I can stand being here knowing that only a few hours ago Emerald had an accident here.” She turned her big blue eyes
