Isla’s POV

Diane kept dragging me up the stairs, and the second we got to the top floor, she turned to face me.

“I was worried about you; when Dario informed the pack that you were gone, everyone was on their toes.”

I doubted her words after the chaos I had caused at the full moon. I didn’t think anyone would care much about my disappearance, but I didn’t say what was brewing in my head. I just stared at Diane with a calm look on my face.

“I’m glad you’re back, though.” She said, unbothered by my quietness. “Immediately I heard you were saved and you were heading back. I rushed over here to prepare you a bath.”

“That’s nice of you!”

She rolled her eyes, “I’m just doing a very cousin-ly thing.”

“Are there more cousinly treats afterwards?” I questioned, batting my eyelashes.

“Don’t push it!” She warned with a fake stern expression.

I flashed a smile her way.

We kept on walking, and when we entered my room. Diane directed me to the bathroom. She had done quite the setting-filling the ba

Dario’s POV I managed to keep my eyes away from Isla during the whole ride, but my mind kept wandering in her direction. I couldn’t shake the feeling off my chest, but I had no choice. Isla was my goddaughter.I was meant to protect her and keep her safe. It was best I kept my distance and stopped whatever was brewing between us.The worst part about everything was despite my trying to keep that distance, I realised it wasn’t going to be easy. Isla was like a drug, and my soul desperately wanted to feed on her—or Kai, in this case. At the mention of his name, I heard him speak.“You just had to do it again!” Kai said. I wasn’t surprised by his words. Of course, he would attack me. He was never on my side when it came to Isla.I didn’t bother replying to his words. I had gotten out of the car, and my mind was focused on checking on Katherine. “Don’t you ever get tired of hurting her?” He continued speaking. It was clear that Kai wanted me to say more words. My wolf’s eagerness could

Dario’s POVI stormed into my mansion with my face stern, but my heart was telling a different story. It was beating rapidly in my chest as the thought of losing Isla ran through my head. I didn’t know if I could handle losing her again.“You fear losing her and still push her away!” Kai said, sarcasm dripping from his tone.“How ironic?” He added in spite. “This isn’t the time for this, Kai!”“Probably, if you didn’t push her away. This wouldn’t have happened.”I felt guilt run through my brain. Kai had stopped talking, but once again, his words were resonant.I was about to climb up the stairs when Jonas approached. He had a disturbing look on his face, and the guilt running through my veins intensified.“Is there any news on Isla?” I questioned him, watching his face and searching for a change in his expression.“I saw Isla head out with Diane!” His words had stopped the guilty feeling running through my veins, and for a second, I felt a form of relief.“Why don’t you call her?”

Isla’s POVDario’s words had caused my body to stiffen. It also seemed to have awoken me because my partly shut eyes stared at him.An embarrassed look ran through my face, and immediately, I untangled myself from his arm. Dario seemed to have gotten the memo because he dropped me down on the ground.I began to walk ahead of him when I heard him speak. I halted my steps as his words bounced out arrogantly. “You shouldn’t have just left the house in that manner.” He scolded me. “Why do you always have to take action without thinking?”“I’m sorry!” I said, hoping my words would prevent him from yelling, but I was very wrong.“Your words aren’t going to cut it!” Dario spat at me. “You are willing to put yourself in danger when you’re clearly aware of the fact that whoever sent Katherine is out there somewhere.”Behind Dario’s barks, I could feel a drop of melancholy in his voice. I felt a little bit guilty for just leaving. Dario had every right to be mad. I couldn’t blame him for feeli

Isla’s POV I stepped inside the meeting hall, and the councilmen all rose, bowing their heads to pay their respects to Dario. They moved their eyes in my direction, and a look of sympathy flashed across their faces. Their eyes swerved from my direction to the door when they heard it open.I moved my eyes away from them and noticed that the guards had entered with Silvan, Katherine and their parents.Silvan avoided my face as usual, but Katherine had a feisty look on her face; she didn’t feel any drop of guilt.“That brat!” Nima cooed. “Unleash me. I want to rip her head off.”“Let’s wait for the men to do their jobs,” I told her. "They would pass on a good judgment.”“I think mine would be better.”“Just relax.” Nima was quiet after this. Silvan and his family were pushed to the centre of the room. All eyes were on them, and from the looks on Dario’s face, he was feeling just like how Nima was. I felt like he wanted to rip their heads off.The eldest man stood up once Dario had sat

Dario’s POVIsla’s words sank into my head, but I didn’t dwell on them long. I turned to face the councilmen, who had their attention on Katherine. I knew my next decision would cause an uproar, but it was the best. That was the only way I would be able to tackle the matter and get to the root of things. With a heavy sigh, I moved my eyes in Isla’s direction. She had a look of anticipation, awaiting my words like a child awaiting candy.I pulled my gaze away from her, placing all my attention on my men.“That’s enough!” I instructed with my voice thundering. The men snapped their heads in my direction. “The meeting is over.” As I said those words. I could feel a shift in Isla’s emotions. “You.” I pointed to one of my men. “Take Katherine back to the dungeon and free the rest of them.”I heard Isla gasp, and she wasn’t the only one who had reacted to my words. Kai, as usual, had thrown his words in the form of daggers my way.“Don’t tell me this one of your ‘I’m doing it for her go

Dario’s POV When we arrived home, I retreated to my room for a quick shower, heading downstairs afterwards.Brenda was the only one on the table when I got downstairs, and Isla’s chair was empty.“Where’s Isla?” I asked her, making myself comfortable on the chair opposite her.“She grabbed an apple from the table and headed upstairs.”“Hmm!” I responded.“I’m worried about her, Dario!” Brenda’s voice caused me to look away from my meal. I turned in her direction and noticed that concern etched at the corner of her face.“She’s fine,” I said, placing my eyes on my food.“I don’t think she is ever since her return. I don’t know why, but I feel there’s something different about her.”“I don’t see it.” I cooed, and at that moment, I don’t know why, but I felt she was trying to get words out of me.I stared at Brenda once again. She had her eyes on me as though she was awaiting my response.“I don’t feel that anything is wrong with Isla.”“I get the reason why you’re oblivious.” She arche

Isla’s POVI sat on the edge of my bed, munching away the apple in my hands. I didn’t have much of an appetite for dinner. I decided to settle for something light and was glad when I picked up the apple from the dining table. Brenda didn’t bother acting like she normally does—trying to be a mother.Once I was done with my apple, I got myself ready for bed, changing into a silk night dress. As I settled into bed, drawing the covers over my body. I felt an uneasy feeling. The second I closed my eyes, whisking away into sleep mode, I was greeted by the warehouse scenery. I jolted from my sleep, throwing away the covers.I got up quickly, walking towards the window. Nima spoke up; her voice was soothing, offering me comfort.“You are safe now!”“I’m aware. I don’t understand why I can’t forget about the warehouse.”“Why don’t you take deep breaths and relax? Five years later. I woke up to the sound of my children's excited voices, their laughter cascading through the air like a warm, familiar embrace. Pulling my eyes open, I gradually focused on my daughter. She was standing really close to me, with her hands crossed behind her back "Mommy, come downstairs! Quick!" she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. Her hands, which were crossed behind her back, moved forward to touch mine. "Mommy, come on! Quick!" she exclaimed, with a higher pitched tone. I tried to understand my daughter’s sudden need for me to go downstairs. I glanced at the clock on my bedside, and I realized it was just eight in the morning. It was quite early. Very early. I sighed, turning to look at Selene who seemed to have given up. When she saw I wasn’t budging she let go of my hands and headed out of the room. Then she returned few seconds later, with a pretty determined face. “Mom, this is really important.” Not long after she said those words ,

Isla’s POVThe night was quiet. The only sound breaking the stillness of the air was the soft rustle of leaves outside our window. I lay in bed after I had managed to put my daughter to bed, dozing off. Suddenly, a cry pierced the silence, a sound that jolted me awake. My eyes flew open, my heart pounding, and without hesitation, I swung my legs over the side of the bed, my bare feet meeting the cool wooden floor as I rushed towards the nursery. Dario, who had heard the sound of our daughter’s cry, rolled out of bed. He walked behind me, his steps slower than mine.I pushed open the nursery door when I got there. Dario and I had put the nursery in order some days ago. Actually, Dario had done all the work; I just stood there watching him since he wouldn’t let me help.Gliding past the entrance, I felt a surge of warmth fills me at each step. I moved to the crib, which was adorned with soft blankets and stuffed animals. Then I reached for my baby, cradling her gently in my arms."Hush

I would never have believed that person, but here I was today, leaving my dreams.Dario pulled his hands away from me, he placed a soft kiss on my ringed finger, then he moved his hands to my face.“My Luna!” He said softly. I blushed not hiding the fact that I was filled with joy. During that moment, the thought of spilling everything that happened to my parents crossed my mind. Dario’s POVI walked into the mansion with Isla by my side. Finally, the battle was over.I stared at her as those thoughts settled in my mind. The victorious look in her eyes was not so different from mine. She must have noticed that I was staring at her because she looked my way, and I noticed as tears began to full from her eyes.“We did it!” She said with her lips curved up. “We finally did it!”“You did it!” I said moving close to her. I wrapped my hands around her body, planting a kiss on her forehead. The joy in my heart couldn’t be contained, and right now the only thought on my mind was finally seeing my child—my daughter. My hands which were on Isla uncurled and my eyes swerved in the opposite direction staring at Jonas.“Inform the men to take care of the bodies and clean everywhere up.” Jonas nodded at my reply, after that was said I turned to look at Isla.“Let’s go see our child.” Together, we made our way up the stairs, crossing the bodies that were at the staircase.

Isla’s POV The battle unfolded before my eyes, as I ran upstairs. I watched as more of the attackers stepped into the mansion walls with their weapons in their hands. It seemed that Dario had called upon on his men from the human base because I noticed that among those attackers were men far more armed and ready to take down whoever dared to stand in their way.As I ascended up the stairs the sounds of body dropping to the ground filled my ears. A sign the men were already taking action.“Do you think it’s going to work?” Nima’s voice spilled into my mind as I continued to walk.“What is?” I questioned, trying to grasp what she was trying to say.“The plan you have to weaken the cursed blood.”“I know it will. The fact that this idea crawled into my mind means it will work and if it doesn’t we would find another way.”Nima didn’t say any words after and I focused on the hallway ahead of me. I arrived in front of the room where my grandmother was staying with Diane and my baby. I tr

During that moment I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. The feeling was so strong and I knew what it meant.“I think the baby is coming.” I said.“Isla, are you sure?” Diane asked.“Yes.” I screamed. “It is time.”My eyes which was once on Diane landed on my grandma who looked shocked. With a raised tone she spoke up, running towards the hallway to get a hold of the guards.“We need to get to the hospital now!” I could hear my grandmother say. “We can’t waste anytime.”Diane moved close to me she help

  • Wanting My Lycan King Godfather   152. "We will conquer this"

Dario’s POV (2 months later)Time flew by very quickly, and the arrival of my daughter was closer than I expected it to be. The joy of becoming fatherhood filled my heart , but underneath that joy was fear. I couldn’t shake off the thoughts that I might mess things up or something would go wrong somewhere. No matter how many times I tried to convince myself internally that handling things after the child was born would be an easy task those treacherous thoughts would return.Kai on the other hand felt otherwise and I wasn’t surprised. The joy in his heart was one he wasted no time to spread for instance this morning.I had gotten up much earlier than usual. The sky was still dark, and from the looks of it. It would take a while before the sun would arrive.I made up my mind to jog, well that wasn’t my first choice. After, I couldn’t fall asleep and the fear about being a terrible father had taken over my mind. Kai ever so considerate had suggested that I head out for a run.“Running

Silvan’s POV Months had passed since I had set my eyes on Isla. My mind wasn’t at rest. I wanted to see how things were going with her and how she was doing even if it was just getting a glimpse of her.I made up my mind the following week to do so. With my men going to the pack for an attack, Dario would be out of the house making things so much easier. At the arrival of the following week, I set out to the pack . I had taken a narrow route, instead of the main path so I wouldn’t be seen. I bursted out at a trail which stretched out into the forest that was pretty close to Dario’s mansion.I parked my car there, and continued on foot. It was pretty difficult navigating through the path on foot but I managed to find my way. The top of the mansion looked at me as I reached the end of the forest. I inched closer until I arrived at the main road. I made my way down the road that pointed to the mansion entrance and when I got there, I realised only two guards were stationed outside.A

The minute I stepped into the sitting room they turned my way.“Are you fine Isla?” Diane was the first to speak up and I smiled her way. “I’m okay, a bit scared but fine.” I took my seat close to her and she shot me a calm look. “I know he’ll be able to handle whatever comes his way.” I added.“Of course.” My grandmother joined in the conversation. “The only thing I’m concerned about is why this people keep coming back.”“I wonder the same thing too.” Diane said. “It’s strange.”“I feel like they’re here for something and they are yet to get it.” I said casually.
