45. Stop It, Isla.

Isla’s POV

Dario’s words had caused my body to stiffen. It also seemed to have awoken me because my partly shut eyes stared at him.

An embarrassed look ran through my face, and immediately, I untangled myself from his arm. Dario seemed to have gotten the memo because he dropped me down on the ground.

I began to walk ahead of him when I heard him speak. I halted my steps as his words bounced out arrogantly.

“You shouldn’t have just left the house in that manner.” He scolded me. “Why do you always have to take action without thinking?”

“I’m sorry!” I said, hoping my words would prevent him from yelling, but I was very wrong.

“Your words aren’t going to cut it!” Dario spat at me. “You are willing to put yourself in danger when you’re clearly aware of the fact that whoever sent Katherine is out there somewhere.”
