47. What Do They Want?

Dario’s POV

Isla’s words sank into my head, but I didn’t dwell on them long. I turned to face the councilmen, who had their attention on Katherine. I knew my next decision would cause an uproar, but it was the best. That was the only way I would be able to tackle the matter and get to the root of things.

With a heavy sigh, I moved my eyes in Isla’s direction. She had a look of anticipation, awaiting my words like a child awaiting candy.

I pulled my gaze away from her, placing all my attention on my men.

“That’s enough!” I instructed with my voice thundering. The men snapped their heads in my direction.

“The meeting is over.” As I said those words. I could feel a shift in Isla’s emotions.

“You.” I pointed to one of my men. “Take Katherine back to the dungeon and free the rest of them.”

I heard Isla gasp, and she wasn’t the only one who had reacted to my words. Kai, as usual, had thrown his words in the form of daggers my way.
