48. Something Different About Her

Dario’s POV

When we arrived home, I retreated to my room for a quick shower, heading downstairs afterwards.

Brenda was the only one on the table when I got downstairs, and Isla’s chair was empty.

“Where’s Isla?” I asked her, making myself comfortable on the chair opposite her.

“She grabbed an apple from the table and headed upstairs.”

“Hmm!” I responded.

“I’m worried about her, Dario!” Brenda’s voice caused me to look away from my meal. I turned in her direction and noticed that concern etched at the corner of her face.

“She’s fine,” I said, placing my eyes on my food.

“I don’t think she is ever since her return. I don’t know why, but I feel there’s something different about her.”

“I don’t see it.” I cooed, and at that moment, I don’t know why, but I felt she was trying to get words out of me.

I stared at Brenda once again. She had her eyes on me as though she was awaiting my response.

“I don’t feel that anything is wrong with Isla.”
