Maddox POV: Lessia’s new behavior towards me is both shocking and enthralling. I didn’t know if she was being nice to me because she really wanted to, or if she was doing it for selfish reasons. Either way I was satisfied with whatever she was willing to give to me. It wouldn’t take long for me to win her over.Lisa was right after all, I had taken a wrong approach to my relationship with Lessia the first time. I was so afraid she would see the twisted side of me and not want to be with me, that I didn’t even give her the opportunity to choose whether to love or hate me.I have been spending more time with her lately, getting to know her, and one thing I realized is she doesn’t like being kept in the dark about things. She wants to be involved, it makes her feel wanted and important.Learning that about her gave me an advantage. By making her feel loved, I was certain she would love me in return."I'll be going out today," I said to her as she stood admiring some of the flowers I ha
Kian’s Pov The air hung heavy with the scent of spilled liquor, as I drowned my sorrows in the bitter embrace of alcohol. I held a bottle of whiskey, I had managed to like, after throwing a couple of other bottles against the wall for not meeting my expectations.Damn it! I have worked so hard over the years, I should have enough money to get good whiskey, why do you keep bringing these subpar ones to me?” I yelled to no one in particular. The atmosphere was filled with sound of glasses meeting their demise against the wall. Lessia’s departure left a void, a void I was trying to fill with the numbing burn of whiskeyIt was probably not the whiskey that had issues, but me, I had become irritable after the disappearance of Lessia. William wasn’t helping out either, he refused to understand why I needed to get her back as soon as possible.I didn’t know if this was because he hadn’t found his mate yet. He often saw relationships as a distraction, and would rather be with someone other
Maddox' POV: I was sitting in my office with the windows and doors closed. The only bit of light that reached my eyes were the rays that strayed through the curtains, sipping through like leaking water. Soon I heard a beep from my phone.I has first thought it was just any other beep from the countless messages from service providers, that usually came with no use to me, so I ignored. But then, I heard another beep go off once more. At this point, my curiosity was already riled up.I looked Into the screen and saw that it wasn't from a network service provider, but rather it was from my bank. It seemed to be a sort alert.Did someone pay tributes today? I asked in my mind. I had no idea of anyone of my subjects that might have been owing me so I checked. What I saw as I opened the phone was enough to have me checking another time and ascertaining on whether or not I was having an issue with my eyes that disabled me from counting numbers effectively.I would have reached out for my g
Kian’s POV The time was heading to 6 o'clock. I was waiting patiently for it in the my office, my gaze dancing between my computer and the wall clock, looking for which to rest my stare on.William sauntered into my office a while later, giving me a questioning look.“You always say your mind, whether I am in support of it or not. So if you have something to say to me, go ahead and say it.” I scoffed.“Why don’t you just stage a kidnap the “way Maddox did?”“Because I’m not him.” I retorted. “Besides I’m working on a better way to get Lessia back.”“Like laundering all Maddox money to the rogues? What if he returns the Favour? Our pack is already suffering from too many attacks. If our finance is attacked, our people will suffer a great deal.” He intoned.“What do you want me to do, William? Every second she spends there makes my blood boil. Knowing that she’s with that sadistic bastard and I can’t do anything about it. He could literally be hitting her as we speak.” I ran my finger
Kian's POV: “Are you sure this is a good idea?” William asked as he kept pacing around my room.“Of course it is. Maddox cannot harm a guest he allowed into his pack, if he does, he will be summoned to the Alpha’s cabinet and punished for it.”“What if he says he was defending himself?” William inquired. I could tell he was already judging my actions before I even took them.“Defending himself from someone who didn’t harm him? Come on William, you should know better than that.”“All I’m saying is, it is not the smartest idea to walk into the enemy’s pack, just because he granted you entry. Did he say ensure your safety as well?”“No, he did not.” I shook my head.“Exactly my point.”“I will be fine, William. Do ensure that take care of things here. Also, get back to me on the active mission.” I patted his back, while I made my way to the car.“Alright Lessia, I’m coming to get you.” I mumbled as I drove away from my pack.***I arrived just as I had planned, to Maddox' Pack house. M
Maddox' POV: I found myself being skeptical of Kian's motives. I knew Kian to be many things, but a fool, I had never thought he was. How the hell did he lack the idea that I was the one who had sent rogues to attack his Pack, when it was quite obvious.I knew he had been investigating, I wondered if his investigation yielded nothing. That was the only explanation I would give to him wanting to help me after what I did to him.Although there was something that didn’t quite add up for me. Kian seemed to be innocent and clearly had nothing to do with the rogue attack. But if he didn’t, who else had a solid motive to attack me?I had many enemies, but none of them could have pulled off the attack the way it was carried out. Unless the rogues have turned on me, which I hoped not.A part of me was still bent on believing that Kian had something to do with it. He might be lying after all.Despite his show of camaraderie and trust, I still suspected that he had a hand in everything that was
Lessia's POV: “Miss Lessia, what is your choice, please?” The lady in charge of dressing me up asked, as she showed me different dresses to choose from.“Honestly, I’m not even in the mood for any party, so you can choose whichever you like.” I replied calmly. She gave me a warm smile as she picked up a sky blue satin dress, that had a slit by the side. The dress was paired with silver heels and a necklace Maddox himself had chosen.“You must be really special to the Alpha.” She smiled. I was beginning to wonder if Maddox paid her to smile as well.“Hmm hmm.”After she finished dressing me up, she did a light make up on me, to compliment the dress.I stared into the mirror and could barely recognize myself. If Kian would be at the party, I wondered what he would think of my look.I really missed him, his touch, his smile. Our wild moments of passion. I missed everything about him.Soon, I was done with getting ready for the party, I made my way to the venue. As I got there, I scann
Kian's POV I got the invite for Maddox party, which wasn’t strange, owing to the fact that we were practically allies. But what I found strange was Maddox keeping me in the same room with Lessia.I wondered what game he was playing , I wasn’t sure what he was up to, but I knew I had to be careful. Any mistake made by me, could endanger Lessia.I picked up my phone from the bed stand, I hadn’t heard from William, so I decided to call him before I leave for the event. He picked after two rings. “How’s the weather?” His voice echoed through the phone. It was a coded message, used between us to know if everything is okay in the enemy’s territory.“The weather looks good, although it’s a bit cloudy.” I replied. He understood what I meant and we proceeded to talk about what it was that made me call him.“Well, I haven’t spoken to some of the Alpha’s, and while some of them are hesitant to join forces with us, some of them have agreed to.” William explained.“Well, that’s progress, I gues
