BLAIR'S POV CONTINUES

The beeping sound of the sphygmomanometer meant to offer some comfort of his stability, only scared me.

I watched him lay there after the urgent surgery to pull the bullet right out of his stomach, and try to replace the pints of blood he lost.

I stood outside the door, looking through the glass opening at how peacefully he was lying.

“Don't you dare give up on me, Brian,” I muttered.

I hated that I had come to love him this much, and no matter how far I tried to run, I always had a reason to stay close.

It was more difficult to see him hurt than hearing sounds of him being shot over the phone.

“Mrs. Craig?” The doctor called, as he got to me.

“Doctor?” I responded. My heart skipped a beat at his call.

“Mr. Craig suffered Hypovolemic shock,” he began.

“This inadequate supply of blood to his organs led to gradual failure of his organs and I'm afraid he slipped into a coma before we could find any blood sources,” the doctor continued.
