Chapter 20

Aoura's pov

The guard's sudden change in looks and behavior caught me off guard. He wasn't interested in hearing more about my meeting with the alpha, and instead, suggested we head to work.

"You know what? Hmmm... let's just go to work," he said, his voice a bit too casual. "You haven't gone to work since morning."

I nodded, feeling a bit confused by the guard's behavior. We walked in silence, the only sound being the soft rustling of our footsteps. The guard didn't say another word, and I couldn't help but wonder what was going through his mind.

As we walked, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The guard's sudden disinterest in my meeting with the alpha, combined with his unusual silence, left me with a little bit of unease. I looks at him sideways, trying to read his expression, but his face remained neutral.

We continued walking in silence, the tension between us increases. I couldn't help but wonder what was going on inside the guard's head. Was he hiding something from me? Did he know more about the alpha's intentions than he was letting on?

As we approached the workplace, I noticed that the guard's grip on my hand tightened slightly. It was a fune look, but it spoke volumes. He was trying to reassure me, to let me know that he was still on my side.

But was he? If the almighty alpha can hide things from me, why wouldn't he do the same? I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, that the guard was hiding something from me. I looked up at him, searching for answers, but his expression remained neutral.

We entered the workplace, and the guard released my hand. I felt a bit of disappointed, but I pushed it aside. I had to focus on my work, on trying to make sense of the strange occurrences that had been happening.

As I settled into my routine, I couldn't help but having catching looks at the guard. He was watching me, his eyes narrowed slightly as if he was trying to read my thoughts. I felt a shiver run down my spine, and I quickly looked away. What was going on? And what did the guard know that I didn't?

So, just when I was beginning to get deep in my thought, I suddenly felt a heavy pain in my stomach, making me stop what I was doing. I tried enduring the pain, just thinking it was just a faded one. I continued in what I was doing, but the guard looked at me sideways as his curiosity increased. Our eyes met, but I looked away, pretending all was okay, but the pain continued.

Enduring through the pain, as I worked, but it was becoming obvious as my body movement showed the pain, trembling on and off. The guard walked up to me, as he was no longer comfortable with my body.

"Are you okay, ma?" the guard asked with a low, calming tone.

I nodded, squeezing my face in pain, trying to look away from the guard.

"Okay, if you say so, but I'm here if you need me," the guard said, walking backwards to his position.

I nodded again, still trying to brush off the pain. But it was getting harder to pretend that everything was fine. My body was trembling, and my stomach felt like it was on fire.

The guard's eyes stayed on me for a moment, his expression a mix of concern and confusion. He didn't believe me when I said I was okay. But he didn't push the issue either.

Instead, he walked back to his position, his eyes never leaving me. I could feel his looks on me, watching me, waiting for me to admit that something was wrong.

I tried to focus on my work, but it was getting harder and harder. The pain was intensifying, and I could feel my body starting to weaken. I was sweating, and my vision was starting to blur.

I knew I couldn't keep this up for much longer. I needed to find a way to get rid of the pain, or at least manage it. But for now, I was stuck, trying to endure the agony that was wracking my body.

I would just try to endure, since I'm almost done and close for the day, I thought, but the pain was not relieving. As I was about to round up, the pain hit, and this time harder. I couldn't hold it any longer, trying to fall to the ground.

I felt my legs give out beneath me, and I collapsed to the ground, unable to withstand the intense pain any longer. My vision blurred, and I felt a wave of dizziness in my eyes.

The guard rushed to my side, his face etched with concern. "Ma'am, what's wrong?" he exclaimed, trying to help me up.

I tried to speak, but the words caught in my throat. I couldn't breathe, and the pain was suffocating me. The guard quickly realized that I was in serious distress and sprang into action.

He swiftly lifted me into his arms and began to carry me out of the room. I felt very much relief at what he did as I was finally able to let go of the pain and allow someone else to take control.

As the guard carried me away, I caught a glimpse of the alpha standing in the doorway, a look of concern stayed on his face. But I couldn't assemble the energy to wonder what he was thinking. All I could focus on was the pain and the desperate hope that someone would be able to make it stop.

I lay limp in the guard's arms, my eyes closed, as I listened to the sound of his voice shouting back at the alpha. The alpha's voice was raised in concern, but the guard's response was firm and reassuring.

"It's just stress, my alpha, she'll be fine," the guard yelled back, his voice echoing off the walls.
