Chapter 28

Aurora pov

The nurse smile was unstoppable as I smiled back at the nurse, feeling a appreciated. "Thanks for playing along," I wrote. "I owe you one."

The nurse chuckled and patted my hand. "Don't worry about it, dear. I'm just glad I could help. But seriously, you need to be careful. The alpha is getting suspicious, and if he finds out you're hiding something from him, there will be consequences."

I nodded, feeling a shiver run down my spine. I knew the nurse was right. I had to be careful if I wanted to keep my secrets safe.

The nurse helped me settle in for the night, making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed.

With that, she smiled and slipped out of the room, leaving me to wonder what she had discovered.

I knew I couldn't pretend forever. The alpha would be back, and he wouldn't take no for an answer. He needed the truth.

Few minutes after nurse left, leaving me to rest. As I wasn't able to sleep, I found myself rolling on my bed, my mind racing with thoughts and worries.

My thoughts were consumed by the alpha's words and the weight of the secrets I was keeping. I knew I couldn't keep running from the truth, but I was scared of what would happen if I revealed everything.

As I lay there, I heard a faint noise coming from outside my room. It sounded like footsteps, light and cautious. I froze, wondering who it could be.

Suddenly, the door creaked open, and a figure slipped inside. It was the beta, his eyes scanning the room before locking onto mine.

"Aurora," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I need to talk to you."

I nodded, allowing him to come in. He walked to me, sitting beside me. "Hey, miss, you haven't slept yet?" he asked with a low, calm voice.

I just shook my head, curious about his presence.

"Don't worry, the alpha is far asleep," the beta said. "We just finished our meeting together, and I was very careful coming here."

I raised my eyebrow to show him my interest in his words.

"But why didn't you tell me and the alpha that you were pregnant?" the beta asked, looking confused. "So, you mean you were pregnant when you came to our city?"

I brought out my notepad to start writing. "Yes, I was pregnant, and am I sorry I didn't say it?" I wrote.

"But why?" the beta asked. "Now, the alpha is concluding that you are pregnant for me, because of what happened between us."

"You and I knew you didn't touch me that day," I wrote. "You were about to, when the alpha came in."

"But to be honest, the alpha doesn't believe that," the beta said, his voice still low. "I tried convincing him at the meeting we had, but he still doesn't want to believe me."

"But we have to figure out a way for the alpha to believe," I wrote.

"Yes, but how did the pregnancy happen?" the beta asked.

"I was raped while I was coming here," I wrote, as I had to lie to the beta.

The beta's eyes widened in surprise as he read what I wrote.

The beta's expression changed from curiosity to shock and outrage. "Who?" he whispered, his voice trembling with anger.

I shook my head, not wanting to elaborate on the lie I had just told.

The beta's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in frustration. "We need to tell the alpha the truth," he said, his voice firm. "Not this...not what you just wrote."

I looked at him worried, unsure of what to say next.

"But why not?" I wrote, trying to deflect his suggestion.

The beta sighed, rubbing his temples. "Because, Aurora, the alpha is already suspicious of me. If he finds out that you were...that you were attacked, he'll assume it was me. And I don't think I can convince him otherwise."

I felt a heavy bile of guilt for putting the beta in this situation. I knew I had to think of a way to clear his name and reveal the truth without putting him in harm's way.

"What do you suggest we do?" I wrote, looking up at the beta for guidance.

The beta's expression turned thoughtful, and he leaned in closer to me. "I think we need to find a way to prove that the child isn't mine," he whispered. "And I think I know just how to do it."

The beta's eyes sparkled with determination as he continued, "We need to find the real father of your child and bring them forward. That's the only way to clear my name and put an end to the alpha's suspicions."

I felt a little bit of anxiety at the beta's words. How could I possibly find the real father of my child? And what would happen when the truth came out?

The beta seemed to be unease and placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, Aurora. I'll help you through this. We'll figure it out together."

I nodded, not knowing how I would be able to do towards the beta. But little did I know, the journey ahead would be fraught with danger, secrets, and unexpected twists.

But it just looked like my lie had turned against me, as now the beta was more interested in finding the father of my child.

"But it was a rape and the person wore a mask," I wrote, adding more lies to deter him from showing too much interest. "I didn't see his face."

"Even if it was a rape, I would use my intelligence to find the person," the beta said. "Miss, you don't know what is at stake."

As the beta's eyes seemed to bore into mine. I knew I had to be careful not to arouse his suspicion.
