Aurora's pov
I was relieved that the beta had dropped the subject of Ryker. I began to scribble some notes on my pad, trying to appear thoughtful.
As I wrote, I couldn't help but think about Ryker's unexpected arrival. What was he doing here? And why did he seem to recognize me?
I pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand. I had to keep up the charade, at least for now.
"I think I remember something," I wrote, I remember he was very tall."
The beta's eyes lit up with interest. "That's a great lead," he said. "I'll make sure to investigate further."
I nodded,I had managed to deflect the beta's suspicions, at least for now. But I knew that I couldn't keep up the act forever. Eventually, the truth would come out, and I would have to face the consequences.
Let's go back to the alpha, the beta said, as we both turned to the alpha with a faded smile. We walked up to the alpha, as the alpha was expecting either one of us to say something.
"I think we have overstressed Aurora for today," the beta said with a smile. "I think we should allow her to have some rest, because of her condition."
"Okay, you can go now, Aurora," the alpha said.
I left the beta and alpha, as they both started some conversations, but I couldn't make out what they were saying, as their voices faded away with every step I took away from them.
I finally left the alpha's quarter, but I wasn't ready to go to the house they had prepared for me to live in yet. I needed to check my shop; at least it was something I had planned to do today. Before I was called by the alpha, I looked around to see if any of the alpha's guards were looking at me, but there were none, as they were all concentrated on one thing or another.
I walked fast, taking every opportunity I got not to be noticed by the guards. Then, suddenly, at a moment when one of the guards was about to look in my direction, and I was about to slip and fall, I was dragged to one corner into the shadows.
"You can't shout, as we all know you, mute girl," a voice covered with a hood spoke up to me.
He removed his hood, showing off his face, and behold, it was Ryker.
"So, you're running away, and this was the best city your legs could take you?" Ryker said, chuckling. "I am not impressed."
He collected my notepad, opening it and handing it over to me, expecting me to start explaining myself.
"Don't worry, I wouldn't tell any of them," Ryker said, pointing to my notepad for me to start writing. "We know each other, but I need answers from you."
I took a deep breath, trying to process the sudden turn of events. Ryker's eyes sparkled with amusement, but I could sense a hint of curiosity beneath the surface.
I took the notepad and pen from him, my hands shaking slightly as I began to write. I explained how I had been living in the city, trying to keep a low profile, and how the alpha had summoned me to investigate a crime.
Ryker's eyes scanned the pages, his expression growing more serious with each passing moment. When I finished writing, he looked up at me, his eyes searching for something.
"Why are you involved with the alpha?" he asked, his voice low and urgent.
I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But something about Ryker's expression made me trust him. I began to write again, explaining how I had been trying to gather information about the alpha's pack, and how I had stumbled upon a mysterious crime scene.
Ryker's eyes widened as he read, his face growing darker with each passing moment. When I finished writing, he looked up at me, his eyes blazing with intensity.
"I need to get you out of here," he said, his voice low and urgent. "Now."
"But what type of crime did you lie about?" Ryker asked, looking curious.
I looked away, dropping my pen on my notepad.
"Wait, and why is your tummy big, as if you are pregnant?" Ryker asked, pointing at my stomach.
I ignored him, as I wasn't ready to tell him about my pregnancy. I turned and looked away, holding my tummy.
Let me not forget, he is still one of Asher's pack, I thought to myself. There are things I shouldn't tell him. And the ones that I have told him, even if he went on and told Asher, there is nothing he would be able to do to me, as I am safe in this city.
Ryker's eyes narrowed, sensing that I was hiding something. He took a step closer to me, his voice low and persuasive. "Come on, tell me. What kind of crime did you lie about?" he asked, his eyes locked on mine.
I felt a bit of anxiety, unsure of how much to reveal. But Ryker's curious expression made me hesitate. Maybe I could trust him, just a little.
I picked up my pen and began to write, my hand moving slowly as I revealed the truth. "I lied about being raped," I wrote, my eyes avoiding Ryker's gaze.
Ryker's expression changed, his eyes widening in surprise. He looked at me with a mixture of curiosity and concern. "Why would you lie about something like that?" he asked, his voice soft.
I shrugged, but I didn't know if I could trust Ryker, but something about him made me want to open up.
Ryker's eyes stayed on mine, as if searching for answers. Then, he looked away, his expression thoughtful. "We need to get you out of here," he repeated, his voice firm. "You're not safe in this city, especially if you're lying about something like that."
I felt fear, realizing that Ryker was right. I wasn't safe, not even in this city. And with one of Asher's pack involved, things just got a lot more complicated.
I stood there in front of him with a lot on my mind. I had to find a way to make him not say a word to Asher, because if it reached Asher's ears about my location and my progress in this city, he would come after me.I held my notepad with my pen tight in my hand, as I had a lot to write to try to convince him."Let me check to see if the coast is clear for you to go," Ryker said, trying to peek through from the corner where we were standing. But I dragged him back to me."What!" he yelled with a low voice, looking at me strangely.I quickly wrote on my notepad, showing him right in front of his face: "It's about Asher.""What about him?" he asked, looking confused."Please, I beg of you, don't tell him you saw me here," I wrote.Ryker's expression changed, and he looked at me with a mixture of surprise and curiosity. He took the notepad from me and wrote, "Why not? What does Alpha Asher have to do with you?"I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to reveal. But something about
Aurora pov The guard's eyes widened in shock as he read what I wrote."But none of them was the rapist, right?" he asked.I answered with a nod."Oh, this would be difficult for the beta than I expected," the guard said with a forced smile.I also forced a smile back. How would my lies about the rape case end? I thought. The beta would not be ready to give up.I tried to push the thought aside, not wanting to dwell on the consequences of my actions. But it was hard to shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in my stomach. The guard, seemingly oblivious to my inner turmoil, continued to chat with me, asking me questions about my day and my thoughts on the alpha and beta. I responded politely, trying to keep up the charade, but my mind was elsewhere. As the conversation went on, I found myself growing more and more anxious. I knew I had to keep up the lie, but it was getting harder and harder to do so. The guard seemed nice, but I couldn't trust him completely. What if he disc
Aurora pov The room was filled with silence, broken only by the noise from outside. After a while, the beta cleared his throat, breaking the silence. I stumbled at the sound of his deep throat."What brings you here, my beta?" the healer asked with a forceful smile on her face."It's about the woman beside me," the beta said, gesturing to me. "As you can see, she's pregnant. This past few days, she's been experiencing stress. If you could give her some therapy to relieve her, it would be much appreciated." The beta finished, followed by a deep breath."Okay, how is the baby doing, my dear child?" the healer asked, pointing at my pregnant belly."Fine, I guess," I wrote on my notepad, showing it to the healer while scratching my head. The healer nodded, her eyes scanning my face before turning to the beta. "I see. Well, I'll do my best to help her. Please, leave her with me for a while."The beta nodded, smiling at me reassuringly. "I'll be outside, waiting for you. Don't worry, you'r
Aurora povWe walked in silence for a while, the only sound being the rustling of leaves beneath our feet. I couldn't help but think about the healer's words that I was carrying twins. It was a daunting prospect, but also a thrilling one.As we approached the pack's den, I could see the alpha waiting for us outside. He looked concerned, but also relieved when he saw me."Everything okay?" he asked the beta, his eyes scanning me from head to toe.The beta nodded. "Yes, everything's fine. The healer just confirmed that Aurora is indeed pregnant."The alpha's expression softened, and he smiled at me. "That's great news, Aurora. We'll do everything we can to support you and the baby."I forced a smile, feeling a pang of guilt. If only they knew the truth that I was carrying twins, and that my pregnancy was a result of a complicated and secretive situation. As we entered the den, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held. Would I be able to keep my secrets hidden, or would the truth
Aurora pov He stepped closer to me, and I could feel the rage in his breath. "Aurora, I don't want to repeat myself. What was the meaning of what you wrote on that sheet of paper?" he asked, pointing at the crumpled paper in my hand.I took a deep breath, trying to relieve myself from the frequency of how my heart was pounding off my chest. My fear was also becoming obvious, as my hands were shaking while I tried to open my notepad to write some kind of explanation that would get me out of that situation."Didn't you hear me? I want some reply now," the beta yelled with a slightly raised voice.I was frightened by his voice, which made me drop my notepad on the floor."Can't you answer the question? What is making you scared?" the beta said, putting on a disgusting look.I bent down to pick my notepad up, still thinking of words to write. Before I could write anything, he said something that made me realize what to reply."Aurora, what are you really hiding from us?" the beta asked,
Aurora povI felt relief, and my tense muscles relaxed slightly. With the beta away on a mission, I wouldn't have to deal with his questioning and suspicious looks."The alpha wants you to know that everything is under control, and you're safe here," the guard said, his expression softening.I nodded, trying to appear grateful and reassured. But my mind was already racing with thoughts of how I could use this temporary reprieve to my advantage."Thank you for letting me know," I wrote, trying to look calm. The guard nodded and turned to leave. "If you need anything, just let me know," he said.I nodded and watched as he closed the door behind him. As soon as I was alone, I let out a sigh of relief and began to pace back and forth across the room.I had to think of a way to get out of here before the beta returned. But for now, I had a small window of opportunity to come up with a plan. But first, I would have to resume work. I know I wouldn't be as strong as I was before, due to my pr
Aurora pov Rising up to the challenge, my twins weren't easy to care for, especially while also building a career. I watched them grow from days to months to years. As I navigated the ups and downs of motherhood and entrepreneurship, the alpha remained a constant presence in our lives. He was a devoted man to our twins, and I couldn't help but feel a deep affection for him. But our relationship was complicated, and I wasn't sure if we could ever find our way back to each other. As the years passed, my twins grew into strong, capable little children. They had their father's fierce loyalty and my determination, and I couldn't be prouder of them. But as they approached adulthood, I knew that I had to confront the secrets of our past and the truth about their birth. It wouldn't be easy, but I was ready to face whatever lay ahead...On their three birthday, the alpha threw a big party for them. The alpha's love, which he had shown to my twins, made me trust him with them, and I accepted t
Aurora pov I looked up at him, my eyes locking onto his. For a moment, we just stared at each other, the tension between us increased. Then, without thinking, I reached out and placed my hand on his chest. It was a unsettled touch, but the alpha's eyes flared with heat as he covered my hand with his own.We sat there for a moment, our hands touching, our hearts pounding in unison. It was a moment of raw connection, of unspoken understanding. And then, in a movement that seemed almost inevitable, the alpha leaned in and pressed his lips to mine...I felt his soft lips against mine. I couldn't resist it; it was getting too intense. I had to pull him back. Our breathing was heavy, and we were lost in the moment. He couldn't stop, and I felt like he couldn't resist me. We were in our own world, and he couldn't stop looking at me. He tried to come close again, but I pushed him back by his chest, feeling his heart beating rapidly.I pushed the alpha away, trying to catch my breath. His eye
Asher povShe stood there, shocked at my words. She began to write on her notepad: "I thought you were having it under control? You were trying to make her jealous as we went for that dinner, now that you know she's after your throne, you're standing here in regret."I shook my head in disappointment, not knowing what to say to her, as I read what she wrote: "What I am angry about is that I allowed you to deceive me, to follow you to that dinner."I felt a pang of guilt as I read her words. I had deceived her, used her as a pawn in my game to make Sophia jealous. And now, I was facing the consequences."Aurora, I..." I started to speak, but she held up her hand, stopping me.You used me, she wrote, her words piercing my heart. You used me to get back at Sophia, without considering my feelings or well-being.I looked down, ashamed. I had been so blinded by my desire to hurt Sophia that I hadn't thought about the impact my actions would have on Aurora."I'm sorry," I said, my voice bare
Asher povI arrived at Johnson's home, a nondescript building in the heart of the city. I knocked on the door, and Johnson answered, a look of curiosity on his face."What's going on, Asher?" he asked, ushering me into his home.I filled him in on my conversation with Josh, and Johnson's eyes grew wider as I spoke."This sounds big," he said, his fingers flying across his keyboard. "Let me see what I can dig up."He worked his magic, hacking into Sophia's computer systems and uncovering a trail of secrets and lies. As we dug deeper, I realized that Sophia's plan was far more sinister than I had ever imagined."What have we got?" I asked Johnson, my eyes scanning the data on hid screen.Johnson's face was grim. "It looks like Sophia is planning to take over the pack," she said. "And she's willing to do whatever it takes to get what she wants.""Yes, that was not a new thing, that was her plan all along. What else can you find?" I asked, followed by a deep breath."From the documents I
Asher povI felt a chill run down my spine as Sophia's words hung in the air. What did she mean by "or else"? What kind of leverage did she have over me?Suddenly, she taped me to bring me back to reality, and I turned to see Sophia's eyes staring at me a menacing look on her face."I think it's time for you to cooperate, Asher," Sophia said, her voice dripping with malice. "You're not going anywhere until we settle this."I realized with a jolt of fear that I was trapped, and Sophia had the upper hand. I had to think fast, to come up with a plan to escape and clear my name. But for now, I was at Sophia's mercy.I looked at Sophia with a strange look. "Sophia, you are getting insane, and I would not be a part of what you're doing," I yelled, standing up."Calm down, Asher," she said, her voice low and even. "This love... it just looks like I'm the one putting all the effort here," she added, bowing her head in anger.I took a step back, shocked by Sophia's words. "Love? You call this
Asher povMy mother nodded, seeming to accept my promise. "See that you are, Asher. I don't want to see you get hurt again."I nodded, feeling a pang of guilt for worrying my mother. "I'll be fine, Mother. I can take care of myself."My mother raised an eyebrow, a hint of skepticism in her voice. "Can you, Asher? Can you really take care of yourself when it comes to Aurora?"I felt a surge of defensiveness, but I knew my mother was just trying to protect me. "Mother, I'll be fine. I promise."My mother nodded, seeming to accept my reassurance. "Alright, Asher. Just be careful, okay?"I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "I will, Mother. Thank you for worrying about me."My mother smiled, her expression softening. "That's what mothers are for, Asher. Now go, and be careful."I nodded, turning to leave. As I walked out of my mother's house, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was walking into a storm, one that would test my resolve and my heart.I walked back to my car, my
Asher pov The night ended as I stood in front of the restaurant, watching as her driver drove her off. With a little faded smile, I waved to her. It was like a dream which was Aurora, the one person I never thought this would happen with, just did.I walked to my car as my phone rang. It was my mother."Why would she be calling me at this time?" I thought."Hello, Mother," I said, answering the call."Asher, what is this I am seeing? All these pictures...?" my mother said, her voice heavy and angry."What pictures are you talking about?" I asked, curiosity filling my thoughts."A picture of you and Aurora in a restaurant, having dinner. I don't understand - is this an old picture or what? Aurora... for over how many years ago... about five years ago, I guess," she said, confusion filling her words."Mother, calm down, I can explain," I said, my voice trembling."Come to my place right away and explain!" she yelled.I sighed, rubbing my temples as I tried to ward off the impending hea
Aurora pov I felt a shiver run down my spine as Asher's words hung in the air. The entire pack in danger? What could Sophia possibly be hiding?I looked at Asher, searching for answers. His expression was grim, his jaw clenched in determination."What makes you think Sophia's hiding something?" I wrote, my hands trembling in fear.Asher hesitated, his eyes scanning the surrounding area before focusing on me. "I've been noticing strange behavior from her. Secret meetings, whispered conversations... and then there's the fact that she's been acting increasingly erratic."I frowned, my mind racing with possibilities. Sophia's behavior did sound suspicious."And what do you think I can do to help?" I wrote, my curiosity getting the better of me.Asher's eyes locked on mine, his gaze intense. "Like I said, I need you to pretend to be interested in me again. To make Sophia believe that we're rekindling our relationship. Can I count on you, Aurora?"I hesitated, unsure of what to write. Pret
Aurora pov It had been about a week since Asher and I met at that event. I could still remember his words. I was mute, but my heart poured out my words. I had to push those feelings aside and focus on my company, which I had already built to great heights. As I sat in my office, staring out the window at the bustling city below, my mind began to wander back to Asher. I couldn't believe the connection we had shared, despite my inability to speak. It was as if he had seen into my very soul.I shook my head, trying to clear the thoughts. I had worked too hard to build my company from the ground up to let distractions get in the way. But as I turned back to my desk, my eyes landed on the small, intricately carved wooden box that Asher had given me.I opened the box, revealing the beautiful silver necklace inside. It was a stunning piece, with delicate filigree and a small crystal pendant. I ran my fingers over the necklace, feeling a shiver run down my spine, it was gift from one of my f
Asher pov Sophia entered, going straight to sit on the bed. I turned, looking at her angrily. "Why are you here? I thought I left the room for you?" I asked."Asher, why are you doing this to me? Even if you hate me, at least show respect for the baby inside me," she said, making eye contact with me."Sophia, you are evil and you know it," I said, my voice heavy. "I don't know your motive, but I am determined to stop you. You forced me that night to make love with you because I was drunk. Now that you are pregnant, you are using it to gain power for yourself.""Asher, I want us to stop all of this," Sophia said, her eyes narrowing. "The truth is, I want you to be my alpha and I want to be your luna. I don't want to share you with anyone.""Share me with anyone? What do you mean?" I asked, looking confused."Yes, you know what I am talking about," Sophia said, her voice dripping with malice. "Aurora? Does she ring a bell in your head? Or should I remind you of the slap she gave me? No
Asher povI felt a surge of anger and frustration at my mother's words. Didn't she care about the truth? Didn't she care about the harm that Sophia could be causing to the pack?I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down. I knew that my mother was only trying to protect the pack, but I also knew that she was being naive. Sophia was not what she seemed, and I was determined to expose her for what she truly was.I looked over at my personal guard, who was watching me with concern. "What did she say?" he asked, as I hung up the phone.I shook my head and said. "She wants me to drop the investigation into Sophia's activities. She says that Sophia is carrying my baby and that we can't afford to upset her."My guard eyes widened in shock. "But that's not true, is it?" he asked. "I mean, Sophia is not really carrying your baby, is she?"I nooded my head. "Yes, she's is. But my mother knows that. And she believes Sophia's lies, and she's willing to do whatever it takes to protect her.
