Aurora pov
But actually it was the thought of the beta. Ever since that drama that happened that day in the room I haven't seen him.
I quickly pulled out my notepad and wrote, "What about your beta?"
I stared at the alpha's face, eager to get an answer. He smiled, but it seemed forced.
"Oh, I sent him on a mission, but you don't need to bother yourself. He would be back soon," the alpha said.
I raised an eyebrow, confused and at the same time scared. "What type of mission?" I wrote, looking confused.
The alpha chuckled. "Come on, it's nothing much. He just went to secure our Eastern border," he said, but his tone seemed unconvincing.
I narrowed my eyes, sensing that the alpha was hiding something. Securing the Eastern border sounded like a vague excuse, and I couldn't wrap the feeling that there was more to the story.
I wrote another question on my notepad, "How long will he be gone?"
The alpha's smile faltered for a moment before he regained his composure. "Oh, not long. Just a few weeks, maybe a month at most. He'll be back before you know it," he said, but his words lacked conviction.
I pressed on, determined to get to the bottom of things. "Can I see the orders he was given?" I wrote, my eyes locked on the alpha's face.
The alpha's expression turned cold, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flash of anger in his eyes. But then, he smiled again, and his composure returned to normal. "I'm afraid that's classified information," he said, his voice firm but polite.
I raised an eyebrow, not satisfied of the alpha's response. Classified information? That sounded like a convenient excuse to keep me in the dark.
I decided to push my luck and wrote another question on my notepad, "Can I at least know if he's safe?"
The alpha's expression softened, and he placed a hand on my shoulder. "I assure you, he's safe. The beta is a skilled warrior, and he's more than capable of taking care of himself," he said, his voice filled with conviction.
But despite the alpha's reassurances, I couldn't till conclude the feeling that something was off. The alpha's words seemed laced with a hidden meaning, and I couldn't help but wonder what he was hiding.
I looked up at the alpha, my eyes searching for any sign of deception. But his face remained impassive, giving nothing away. I was left with more questions than answers, and a growing feelings of unease.
"And again, after what happened at your room the other day, it's a shock to me that you're showing this much care for him," the alpha said, rolling his eyes.
I wanted to write more questions, but there was no need for that. All the questions I had been asking seemed to be leading to no good.
"See, listen," the alpha continued, his voice firm. "Before my beta went on the mission, I warned him not to come close to you. Since after that encounter you had with him, he was under strict instructions."
The alpha's words sent a chill down my spine. What did he mean by "encounter"? And what instructions could be so important that the beta had to be warned to stay away from me?
I felt so much fear fear also mixed with confusion. What was going on? And why was the alpha being so secretive?
I looked up at the alpha, searching for answers, but his expression remained stern.
"To stay away from you, at all costs," he continued, his voice firm. "He knew the consequences of disobeying me, but it seems he didn't take my warning seriously, if i may ask? Have you had encounter with him since thT incident at your room? ."
I shock my head. The alpha's words were low with a hint of anger, and I couldn't help but wonder what had happened between him and the beta.
I wrote another question on my notepad, "What consequences?"
The alpha's eyes narrowed, and he leaned in closer. "Let's just say that disobedience is not tolerated here," he whispered, his voice sending a shiver down my spine.
I felt a little bit of fear, as my heart skipped a bit, and my mind began to racing with questions. What kind of consequences was the alpha talking about? And what did it have to do with the beta's disappearance?
I swallowed hard, trying to process the alpha's words. The air in the room seemed to grow thicker, and I could feel the weight of the alpha's looks upon me.
Suddenly, the alpha straightened up and cleared his throat. "Enough of this conversation," he said, his voice firm but controlled. "You have a lot to learn, and I have matters to attend to. We will speak again soon."
With that, the alpha turned and walked away, leaving me feeling bewildered and confused. I watched him go, my mind racing with questions and doubts.
As I stood there, trying to make sense of what had just happened, I heard a faint noise behind me. I turned to see.But it was my personal guard. His concerned expression made me feel a bit more at ease.
"Is anything settled?" he asked, his eyes scanning my face. "And how did your meeting go with the alpha? Has all your doubt been cleared?"
The guard's multiple questions left me standing there, unsure of which one to answer first. I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts.
I decided to start with the easiest question. I shook my head, indicating that nothing was settled. Then, I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal about my meeting with the alpha.
The guard's expression turned more serious, and he took a step closer to me. "What happened?" he asked, his voice low and urgent.
I looked around the garden, making sure we were alone. Then, I began to write on my notepad, trying to summarize the events of the meeting. The guard watched with so much focus, his eyes scanning my words as I wrote.
Aoura's povThe guard's sudden change in looks and behavior caught me off guard. He wasn't interested in hearing more about my meeting with the alpha, and instead, suggested we head to work."You know what? Hmmm... let's just go to work," he said, his voice a bit too casual. "You haven't gone to work since morning."I nodded, feeling a bit confused by the guard's behavior. We walked in silence, the only sound being the soft rustling of our footsteps. The guard didn't say another word, and I couldn't help but wonder what was going through his mind.As we walked, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The guard's sudden disinterest in my meeting with the alpha, combined with his unusual silence, left me with a little bit of unease. I looks at him sideways, trying to read his expression, but his face remained neutral. We continued walking in silence, the tension between us increases. I couldn't help but wonder what was going on inside the guard's head. Was he hiding somethi
Aurora's pov I felt the guard's arms tighten around me, holding me securely in place as he continued to move swiftly through the corridors. The alpha's voice grew fainter, and I sensed that we were putting distance between ourselves and the alpha's concerned would increase. As the guard's footsteps slowed, I felt relief. Maybe, just maybe, I was going to be okay. The guard's gentle voice whispered in my ear, "Hang in there, ma'am, we're almost there."I felt the guard's arms adjust around me, and then I was being lowered onto a soft surface. I opened my eyes to find myself in a small, dimly lit room. The guard was kneeling beside me, his face etched with concern."Ma'am, can you hear me?" he asked, his voice soft and gentle.I nodded, still trying to catch my breath. The pain was still there, but it had subsided slightly. The guard nodded and stood up. "I'll get the medic," he said, and quickly exited the room.I was left alone, my mind racing with questions. What was happening to me
Aurora's povI nodded, as I was feeling a mix of different emotions. The nurse's enthusiasm was infectious, but I couldn't let go of the fear and uncertainty that had been plaguing me since I discovered I was pregnant. The nurse seemed to sense my unease, and her expression softened. "Don't worry, we'll take good care of you and the baby," she reassured me. "But I do need to ask, have you experienced any complications or issues during your pregnancy so far?"I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But the nurse's kind and gentle manner put me at ease, and I found myself opening up to her about my symptoms and concerns. The nurse listened attentively, her expression growing more serious as I shared my concerns. When I finished, she nodded thoughtfully and made some notes in her book."Don't worry, we'll run some tests and make sure everything is okay," she said reassuringly. "But in the meantime, I want you to take it easy and get plenty of rest. Can you do that for me?"I nodded,
Aurora's povDays turned into weeks as I made a rapid recovery. Despite the guard's daily inquiries, I remained resolute in my decision to reject the alpha's proposal to visit me. I desperately needed time and space to think, rest, and nurture my unborn child. However, a pressing concern continues to be over me: how could I conceal my pregnancy from everyone, especially the alpha? My belly was starting to show, and it would become increasingly difficult to hide. The nurse was the only one aware of my condition, and I wasn't sure how much longer I could keep it under wraps. As my stomach continued to grow, I became more anxious about keeping my secret hidden. The guard, although well-intentioned, was becoming increasingly curious about my condition. I could sense his eyes on me, looking over my every move, and I knew it was only a matter of time before he discovered the truth. One day, as the nurse was making her rounds, she cautiously handed me a bundle of loose-fitting clothes. "Thes
Aurora's povDays continued to passed, one evening as I was sitting in my room, I heard a faint knock on the door. I looked up to see the nurse standing in the doorway, a sly smile on her face."Hey, I brought you some more of those loose-fitting clothes," she said, holding up a bag. "But I also have some news. I overheard the alpha talking to one of his advisors, and it sounds like he's planning something big."My heart skipped a beat as I took the bag from her. "What kind of something?" I asked, trying to keep calm as my curiosity was obvious judging from the way I was writing. The nurse leaned in close, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm not entirely sure, but it sounds like it has something to do with you. And the alpha."My eyes widened as I felt a surge of fear. What could the alpha possibly have planned? And how could I protect myself and my unborn child? What do the alpha wants this time and what is he planning? I wrote. "To be honest, I don't know what he's planning," th
Aurora's povI tried to shake off his grip, but he held firm. but trembling slightly. The alpha's eyes narrowed. "You're not going to just walk away from this," he said. "We need to talk."I tried to struggle, but he was too strong. He pulled me back into the room, the reporter and the other guests watching in silence. The alpha dragged me to a private corner, blocking the people behind us. "What's going on?" he demanded, his eyes blazing with anger. "Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant?"I stood tall, trying to keep my composure steady. "I didn't think it was any of your business," I wrote. The alpha's face turned red with rage. "Not my business?" he repeated. "You're carrying a child, and it's not my business?"I shook my head. "Yes I'm carrying my child," I wrote, showing him to his face, as my hand shaking. The alpha's eyes narrowed. "Don't lie to me," he growled. "I know but it is a child you carrying. And I'll do whatever it takes care of it, since you are a loner in this c
Aurora's pov It was looking as if the alpha was trying to control my life. I wasn't satisfied with it. Yes, I know I did bad not telling him about the pregnancy. And, moreover, speaking of the pregnancy, I am not convinced enough about what you are telling me, nurse, the alpha said, scaring at the nurse, raising an eyebrow."I don't understand," the nurse asked, looking confused. "I have already confirmed to you; what more do you want, my alpha?""How am I sure this isn't a plan worked between you and Aurora?" the alpha asked. "Because, if I would remember very well, I caught Aurora and my beta together, as my beta was trying to make a move on her at her room. So, it can be that they can be having a secret affair with each other. She was just trying to pretend as she noticed I was coming," the alpha said.I widened my eyes in shock and surprise upon hearing those words from the alpha. How could he think this way of me, despite what the nurse told him?"My alpha, I don't think you sho
Aurora's pov The alpha's expression turned confused. "Excuse me, I don't understand you?" he asked, interrupting the beta.I just stared at them as they spoke. The beta hesitated, looking at me before turning back to the alpha. "They're asking for the land near the old oak tree of your grandparents, my alpha," he said slowly. The alpha's expression changed, his eyes narrowing. "The old oak tree?" he repeated. "That's a sacred site for our pack. Why would they want that land?"The beta shook his head. "I don't know, my alpha. But they seemed really insistent on getting that land. They said it was essential for their farming."The alpha's face twisted in a dirty looks. "I don't trust them," he growled. "There's something more to this. I want you to investigate further, beta. Find out what they're really after."The beta nodded, looking determined. "Yes, my alpha. I'll get to the bottom of this."I watched as the alpha and the beta continued to discuss the matter, my mind racing with th
Aurora pov The guard's eyes widened in shock as he read what I wrote."But none of them was the rapist, right?" he asked.I answered with a nod."Oh, this would be difficult for the beta than I expected," the guard said with a forced smile.I also forced a smile back. How would my lies about the rape case end? I thought. The beta would not be ready to give up.I tried to push the thought aside, not wanting to dwell on the consequences of my actions. But it was hard to shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in my stomach. The guard, seemingly oblivious to my inner turmoil, continued to chat with me, asking me questions about my day and my thoughts on the alpha and beta. I responded politely, trying to keep up the charade, but my mind was elsewhere. As the conversation went on, I found myself growing more and more anxious. I knew I had to keep up the lie, but it was getting harder and harder to do so. The guard seemed nice, but I couldn't trust him completely. What if he disc
I stood there in front of him with a lot on my mind. I had to find a way to make him not say a word to Asher, because if it reached Asher's ears about my location and my progress in this city, he would come after me.I held my notepad with my pen tight in my hand, as I had a lot to write to try to convince him."Let me check to see if the coast is clear for you to go," Ryker said, trying to peek through from the corner where we were standing. But I dragged him back to me."What!" he yelled with a low voice, looking at me strangely.I quickly wrote on my notepad, showing him right in front of his face: "It's about Asher.""What about him?" he asked, looking confused."Please, I beg of you, don't tell him you saw me here," I wrote.Ryker's expression changed, and he looked at me with a mixture of surprise and curiosity. He took the notepad from me and wrote, "Why not? What does Alpha Asher have to do with you?"I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to reveal. But something about
Aurora's pov I was relieved that the beta had dropped the subject of Ryker. I began to scribble some notes on my pad, trying to appear thoughtful. As I wrote, I couldn't help but think about Ryker's unexpected arrival. What was he doing here? And why did he seem to recognize me?I pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand. I had to keep up the charade, at least for now."I think I remember something," I wrote, I remember he was very tall."The beta's eyes lit up with interest. "That's a great lead," he said. "I'll make sure to investigate further."I nodded,I had managed to deflect the beta's suspicions, at least for now. But I knew that I couldn't keep up the act forever. Eventually, the truth would come out, and I would have to face the consequences.Let's go back to the alpha, the beta said, as we both turned to the alpha with a faded smile. We walked up to the alpha, as the alpha was expecting either one of us to say something."I think we have overstressed Aurora f
Aurora's pov There was no sign of giving up from the alpha and beta, as they were both determined. I just stood there in shock, staring at the both of them, as I held my pen tight on my notepad. The alpha noticed my discomfort as he looked at me with a worried look. "Do you have anything to write that could help us?" the alpha asked.I didn't even nod or shake my head; it was as if my whole body was frozen, with my eyebrows widely open."Hmmm, I understand we are stressing you, judging from your condition," the alpha said, "but I just want to tell you that we mean well for you."I let out a deep breath of frustration, as I was getting tired of the situation. The whole room was filled with silence, as both the beta and alpha had nothing else to say. Then, after what felt like eternity, there was a knock at the door that broke the silence."Who is there?" the alpha yelled, as his voice gave me a bit of fear. The door cracked open, and it was one of the beta's guards. "You came with goo
Aurora pov Just when the alpha was about to speak, the beta's phone rang. "Sorry, my alpha," the beta said, walking away from us to a corner of the room.I turned to the beta, trying to hear his conversation, but all I could hear was just murmurs. A while later, he walked back to us, looking at us with a big smile on his face."It looks like my investigation is moving faster than I expected," the beta said. "Aurora, immediately after we spoke yesterday night, I called some of my sources, and they were able to get me some information which I would say would be quite useful for me.""Wait, you two spoke last night?" the alpha asked, looking confused."Just forget about that, my alpha," the beta said. The alpha turned to me, but I only gave a faded smile."My sources said they just caught two suspected rapists," the beta said. "I think Aurora should follow me, maybe she could recognize something."Immediately, the beta spoke those words, my heart started racing fast, and I began trembli
Aurora pov I stood there, my heart pounding out of my chest, as they both stared at me. Waiting for me to start writing, I held my notepad tight to my chest, my finger tapping at the surface of the notepad, not knowing what to say, thinking of different things to say."I believe you have rested enough, Aurora," the alpha said, his voice raising in venom. "Time to start writing, because I can't accommodate a child, who we don't know who the father is.""You want to still bring that up again?" the beta asked."Yes," the alpha replied, "and moreover, you spoke something about Aurora hiding something. Is there anything I need to know?" The alpha asked, his eyes narrowing at me.Maybe the alpha knows about the beta's past, I thought to myself. I have to tell him to take the attention away from me.I opened my notepad to write: "Am sorry I was afraid to tell you, but I was raped."They both came nearer to read what I wrote."What?" the alpha exclaimed. "Am very sorry, I know how you feel.
Aurora's pov The guard's eyes locked onto mine, filled with a deep sadness. "You see, ma'am, the beta's anger against rape isn't just about justice. It's personal. And now, with your... situation, he's even more driven to uncover the truth."I felt a cold creeping all over my body as I realized the gravity of my actions. I had unwittingly dragged the beta's dark past into the spotlight, and now he was more determined than ever to uncover the truth. The guard's voice brought me back to reality. "Please, ma'am, you must promise me that you won't tell the beta that I told you this. He would never forgive me if he knew that I had shared this with you."I nodded, still trying to process the weight of the guard's words. I felt like I was trapped in a web of my own making, with no clear escape.I nodded again, trying to reassure the guard that I would keep his secret. He looked at me with a serious expression, then nodded and unlocked the door.As he opened the door, I saw the beta standing
Aurora's pov Despite pushing the feeling aside, it still kept disturbing me. It just seemed like the more I was trying to find a way out, the more I was multiplying my problems. Adding more lies wasn't the best idea I would have come up with, but the deal had already been done. I would have to face the consequences.I felt unease as the guilt settled in the pit of my stomach. Every time I thought about the web of lies I had spun, I felt like I was drowning in my own deceit. The beta's words kept echoing in my mind "I'll will find thr rapist no matter what it takes." But what if he didn't? What if the beta saw right through my lies?I felt a cold sweat break out on my forehead as I thought about the possibilities. I had never been a good liar, and now I was trapped in a situation where my lies could have disastrous consequences. As I walked around the room, I couldn't help but feel like I was walking on thin ice. One wrong move, one misstep, and everything could come crashing down aro
Aurora's pov The tension was beginning to increase, as the beta wasn't ready for anymore conversation. "I understand," I wrote, trying to look calm. "But I don't see how finding the person will change anything."The beta's expression turned grim. "It will change everything, Aurora. The alpha will not rest until he finds out who the father of your child is. And if we don't find him first, the alpha will assume it's me. Do you understand what that means?"I just nodded. Because I knew that if the alpha assumed the beta was the father of my child, it would mean disaster for the beta."It means the alpha will punish me, and possibly even exile me from the pack," the beta said, his voice low and serious. "And it will also put you and your child in danger. The alpha will not take kindly to being deceived."I felt fear at the beta's words. I had never intended for things to go this far. I had only been trying to protect myself and my child."What can we do?" I wrote, feeling a sense of des
