Chapter 26

Aurora's pov 

It was looking as if the alpha was trying to control my life. I wasn't satisfied with it. Yes, I know I did bad not telling him about the pregnancy. And, moreover, speaking of the pregnancy, I am not convinced enough about what you are telling me, nurse, the alpha said, scaring at the nurse, raising an eyebrow.

"I don't understand," the nurse asked, looking confused. "I have already confirmed to you; what more do you want, my alpha?"

"How am I sure this isn't a plan worked between you and Aurora?" the alpha asked. "Because, if I would remember very well, I caught Aurora and my beta together, as my beta was trying to make a move on her at her room. So, it can be that they can be having a secret affair with each other. She was just trying to pretend as she noticed I was coming," the alpha said.

I widened my eyes in shock and surprise upon hearing those words from the alpha. How could he think this way of me, despite what the nurse told him?

"My alpha, I don't think you should think that way," the nurse said, looking surprised too. "What you are saying is far from the truth."

"Don't tell me what to think or what not to think," the alpha said. "It can be possible."

"There is nothing that can be possible like that, my alpha," the nurse asked.

"Mind the way you talk to me," the alpha said. "Remember that I am your alpha."

The nurse bowed her head respectfully. "I apologize, my alpha. I didn't mean to overstep my bounds. But I assure you, there is no truth to the accusations you're making. Miss Aurora is telling the truth about her pregnancy, and I have the medical records to prove it."

The alpha's expression remained doubtful. "I want to see those records," he growled. "And I want to know more about what happened between Aurora and my beta."

I felt a bit of fear at the alpha's words. I knew that I had to protect myself and my child from his accusations. I began to write furiously on my notepad, trying to explain the situation to the alpha.

But before I could finish writing, the alpha's beta burst into the room. "My alpha, I need to speak with you," he said, his eyes darting nervously to me and then back to the alpha.

The alpha's expression turned cold. "What is it, beta?" he asked.

The beta took a deep breath before speaking. "I know what you're thinking, my alpha. But it's not true. I swear on my honor as a werewolf that I had nothing to do with Aurora's pregnancy."

The alpha's eyes narrowed. "Go on," he growled.

"I was just trying to help her, my alpha," the beta continued. "She was new to the city and didn't know anyone. I was trying to be friendly and show her around. But I swear, nothing romantic or intimate happened between us, and what you caught me trying to do, it was because i was carried away."

The alpha's expression remained doubtful, but he said nothing. Instead, he turned to me, his eyes boring into mine.

"Aurora, is this true?" he asked, his voice low and angry. "Were you and my beta just friends, as he claimed, or was there something more going on?"

I felt a bjt of fear at the alpha's words, but I knew I had to tell the truth. I nodded, writing quickly on my notepad.

"Yes, it's true," I wrote. "The beta was just being friendly and helping me out. There was nothing romantic or intimate between us and what happened that day, maybe he was carried away by my beauty."

The alpha's expression softened slightly, but he still looked unconvinced. "I'll be keeping an eye on you, Aurora," he growled. "And on you, beta. If I find out you're lying to me, there will be consequences."

The beta nodded, looking relieved but also scared. "Yes, my alpha. I understand."

The alpha turned to the nurse. "And you, nurse. I want you to keep a close eye on Aurora and make sure she's taking care of herself and the baby."

The nurse nodded, looking professional. "Yes, my alpha. I'll make sure to take good care of her."

The alpha nodded, seeming to relax slightly. "Good. I'll be back later to check on things. And Aurora?"

He turned to me, his eyes glinting with warning. "Remember, I'm watching you. Don't think about trying to sneak away or hide anything from me. I'll find out, and there will be consequences."

I felt scared at the alpha's words, but I nodded, trying to look brave. I knew I had to be careful and protect myself and my child from the alpha's wrath.

"And as for you, beta, when did you come back from the mission?" the alpha asked, turning to the beta.

"My alpha, I just arrived an hour ago," the beta replied. "I was aware that you had an event at the city hall, so I waited for you. Upon knowing you were back, I came over here and stayed at the door post to wait for you, before hearing what Aurora, you, and the nurse were talking about. So, I needed to vindicate myself, which is why I rushed in to explain to you."

The alpha's expression turned skeptical. "So, you have been at the door post listening to our conversation?" he asked, looking frustrated and stressed.

"Yes, and I couldn't stand there and listen to the accusation about me," the beta said.

The alpha's face twisted in a scowl. "We would settle this later, but what about your mission?" he asked.

"My alpha, the mission was like an agreement," the beta explained. "Because those men who came to our Eastern border were werewolves, and they want to settle in our city."

The alpha's eyes narrowed. "Did they tell you their reason?" he asked.

"Yes, for farming," the beta replied. "But they are asking for a particular land."
