Chapter 48 - Hopelessly Alone

I huddled into the corner of my cot, trying to keep as warm as possible, which seemed an impossibility in this dank room which held no warmth at all.

I had been left in the jogging bottoms and shirt that Ben had given me, with no access to blankets or even shoes since I was brought here. The only additional source of warmth I had was the sheet that I brought with me from the underworld.

I felt completely helpless. I seemed to spend more time in darkness than in light. The only time I seemed to get any was the brief window that the sun shone through my tiny cell window for a couple of hours a day, before it dipped back behind the cold stone walls.

Ben had not bothered gracing me with his presence since our last meeting. The only interaction I had was the occasional guard sliding a tray with a “meal” for me once a day.
