We sat for a long time in each other’s arms, just talking. About everything.

About Lucifer, and Lilith, and Oona. About my father, both biological and the man who raised me for my formative years. About where we go from here. About the hopes hat we have for the small life that was now growing in my womb.

No matter how hard I tried, something still niggled inside of me. The echo of the dark thoughts that seemed to invade my mind more and more often over the last few hours. Imploring me to return to the underworld. To absorb the power of the flames and to take my rightful place. To complete my destiny.

If my trip to the hells fire had shown me anything, it was that fate was not done with me yet. And that there was no way for me escape it.

The idea of there being more to come scared me. When Lilith first told me that I was the key to save the underworld, I believed her. I had no idea that she had put me on a path that would lead me down much a d

Deciding it was probably best to make ourselves scarce before Lord Tyrell and his vampire army came to take back what they believed to be theirs. It was my belief, that whilst everyone thought Lucas dead, the safer we would both be. England was out of the question for us, too many people there knew of us, who we were and the importance that we would have in underworld should we be caught. As much as Lord Tyrell had promised me that I would always be welcome in the underworld, I had to question why? Was it that he hoped to use my status to glean the trust of the demon aristocracy? Did he believe that with me by his side, his transition into power would be made easier? Or was it that he simply wanted to keep his friends close, but his enemies closer. I was not naive; I knew that Lucas and I were Tyrel

I don’t remember much of my Childhood. Most of what I do know, was what I have been told. Which still doesn’t account for much. I know that when I was 8 my Parents were murdered, but I do not know why. I know that when my fathers body was recovered it was torn to shreds, that not anything human could have done the terrible things to him, my mother’s body was never found. I know that I was found 3 days later hidden behind a secret panel in the basement of my parents lakeside home, but I cannot remember being there. I know that my Dad was apart of an elite group of humans known as the Hunters. I have been told my Dad was the best fighter in recent history, accounting for well over 100 kills during his time as a warrior, but I cannot remember him. If it were not for a single picture of the three of us that sat on my bedside table, then I wouldn’t even know his or my Mums faces. I know that my Dads best friend and fellow warrior was the one to find me. He is also my Godfather. He took m

The rest of the graduation ceremony went by quickly. I’m not going to lie, Ben getting recruited by Dario gutted me. The weird thing was for the rest of the day recruiters seemed to avoid me. I wracked my brains for a reason, but I came up with none. I was the best in my year. I know that there was plenty of interest in me during the final weeks. Recruitment Hunters flocked to see my fights. The buzz of excitement evident in the air, a lot was ridding on my shoulders being the daughter of Steven Taylor. So why now had I not received one offer. My answer soon came in the form of a petit middle aged woman with slick backed hair and a bun at the nape of her neck. She wore slim glasses which sat on the end of her nose and constant expression of everything around her being beneath her. “Hunter Avalon.” She spoke with a thick French accent. All the while glaring down at me through her glasses. “My name is Victoria Beauchamp, I am head of logistics here at hea

I step over the bridge that connects us to the human world, It feels like in wading through water. The current pushing me back. The air becomes thick making it difficult to breath. I keep pushing forward, the more I push the harder it becomes. Just when I think I cannot cross over, a bright light shines out through a crack in the void. Continuing forward finally reaching the source of the light and squeeze myself through. I fall forward and land on my hands and knees with loud thud. It was as if something was holding me up and now has released me from its grasp. I gulp for air, trying to gather myself. I do not remember crossing into the headquarters before, although I must have done when Darren first brought me there so many years ago. But I am almost positive that it should not be as hard to cross over. It was like I was fighting an invisible force the whole way through. My breathing evened out and I stand on wobbly legs as I take stock of where I am. I’m n

I awoke to a light tapping on the bedroom door. Dragging my eyes open I realise I have slept the whole afternoon away, it was pitch black outside. The moon was fully up in the sky casting haunting shadows into my room. “Yes?” I called out trying to rub the sleep for my eyes. “I thought you might be hungry, if you would like to join me in the dining room for some dinner?” Lilith’s musical voice came from the other side of the door. “That would be lovely, I will be down in 5 minutes.” I called back. I listened as Lilith retreated down the hallway, the floorboards groaning under her small frame. Shifting off the bed, I make my way over a door on the opposite wall and flick the switch. Thankfully finding a small bathroom with a wash basin, toilet and shower. Standing over the basin I splash some water on my face, my brain still reeling over the faces in my dream. The boys blue eyes etched into the front of my memories. Grabbing a towel and drying

I wake up the next morning to bright light blaring into my face. Holding my hands up to shield my eyes from the light, I realise that I’m back in my bedroom. Still in my clothes from last night and a soft fluffy blanket draped over the top of me. Lilith must have managed to get me upstairs last night. My head is pounding recalling the details of our conversation last night. Somehow I feel like a weight has been lifted from my chest. So much of my life has been lived completely in the dark. Not really knowing who my parents were or where I came from. And now I know. Not only am I Hunter and a half demon, but I am also bound to another person and I am a royal fire wielding kick arse hunter. It was a lot to take in, but it felt right to me, I wasn’t scared of the information. I guess a part of me always new the truth, I just couldn’t remember. I couldn’t remember Lucas, how could I have ever forgotten about him. My heart aches just at the thought of him.

  • Shadowed Creatures   Chapter 6 - The Executioner

Lucas POV I have been stuck in this hell for 10 years now. My father making sure to create me in his image. Any joy or happiness that I once felt was soon whipped out of me. Generally with the back of my fathers hand, but on occasion I was left in the cells to rot with the rest of the creatures that my father deemed as enemies. They call me the Prince of Darkness. And they are not wrong, after all my father is Lucifer, the devil himself, God of death, King of the shadows and the first fallen angel. He made me his executioner and right hand man after his last one disappointed him. Its no surprise really, it doesn’t take much to disappoint Lucifer. My only redeeming quality is that I am his last remaining heir. He needs me alive to hold his thrown from those who would look to take it from him. I stalk down the cold narrow corridors towards the dungeons. Its nothing new, I know these corrid

  • Shadowed Creatures   Chapter 7 - An Honest Conversation

It took me a while to pull myself together and find the energy to return back to Lilith’s cottage. I knew I had no choice, I couldn’t just continue lying on the ground wallowing in self pity for all eternity. I had questions. Questions that only Lilith would know the answers too. At least that was the hope. It was well past midday by the time I had returned, the sun hovering over the tree line. The air held a light chill to it signalling the start of a new season approaching. I push the front door open and let myself in. Following the smell of homemade cooking I headed towards the kitchen. The door was open and peeked my head around the door frame to make sure Lilith was there. She was stood over the aga stirring something in a large heavy bottomed pot. Freshly made bread sat in the middle of a heavy wooden farmhouse table, chopped into large chunks. I stepped into the room, before even announcing my present Lilith calls out in her musical voice, “Avalon dear

I stood looking at the place that Lucifer only moments ago stood talking to me as flesh and blood. All that was left of the devil was a smoking pile of ash, and a creeping doubt in my heart.Lucifer’s death had left me with more question than I had ever thought possible. Not only was he suggesting that I was conceived in the underworld, which would mean that I was not only completely demon, but also that my father was not in fact… my biological father. But also, that my mother wasn’t the person I thought that she was. And that he clearly believed that one day my son would be back in the underworld and ruling it.My head span with what he had told me. I didn’t know if the words he had spoken even held an element of truth, or if he was simply trying to get into my head. He was the devil after all. He was known for being a trickster, for being evil!I sat back in the soft arm chair, feeling completely d

For the first and last time I left the St Leger family home behind, the water gardens having been my only window into what the residents was like. Where my mother had spent the majority of her childhood.A part of me curious, to know the woman who had raised me for 8 years. Who loved me and was so gentle and kind. The other just wanted to be done with the underworld forever.Unsure as to where to start to search for Lucifer. I found myself in the long gallery, pictures of the all the dead and damned family member of the Royal House of Caine. The picture of Lilith hung high up before me, like the Queen presiding over her court. The gallery was quiet, and much darker than the last time we were here. The usual torches which lined the halls of the royal palace unlit casting the room into an eery glow.I stepped forward quickly, with soft footsteps so as not apprise anyone of my approach. The door to the banqueting room was sat slightly ajar, poking my head ar

LuciferI had spent a great many hours thinking about my life over the last few weeks, probably more than I should have done.I had lived many lifetimes. Even before falling from grace. Not all of them unhappy.Even in my damnation on earth, I had found love, and happiness to a degree and I had even procured a family. Lilith was my happiness for so long. She had born me many children. And in turn Grandchildren, and great grandchildren and so forth. Most of them are now so watered down that the lineage has all but disappeared, yet it was still there. A piece of me living on in my own personal hell, earth. All had brought me joy, and pride in their own ways.Yet I found myself unsatisfied with what I had achieved during my time in the underworld and in turn on earth. My mission had been to prove God wrong. To prove to him that his creation, humans, were not worth th

Lucien stepped out from the dark hallway that split off from the garden room and into the light. Stopping in his tracks as he looked upon the scene in front of him.His annoyed expression soon disappeared as his gaze fell upon me.“Niece, how wonderful of you to visit. I had no idea that you had even been recovered. How fortunate.” His words dripped sarcasm, half of his face that was stretch grotesquely over his cheekbones from the scaring he had incurred from our previous tryst.“Well, I couldn’t allow you to think you had won Uncle. Afterall, we do have unfinished business to attend to.” I spoke with just as much sarcasm as I could muster, all the while letting the low burning heat radiate through me.Lucien stepped out into the middle of the room so he was stood beside Nova, who by now had taken on a whole new shade of white, looking as if she may just faint on the spot.I stand with my feet set apart and my hands r

I expected that Hélène would look at me in sheer horror at what I intended to do.Instead, she remained calm, her earlier appearance of courageous determination steadfast on her face.“You don’t need my help for that my lady.” She looked at me kindly.“What do you mean Hélène ?”Rather than answering with words she pointed to my neck, and what laid resting against it.My hand came up and caressed the hard stone that Lucas had given me.“It has magical properties you know.” She said as she watched my expression thoughtfully. “It once belonged to Lucas’ mother. She wore it before Lucifer changed her into an immortal.”“That explains why Lucifer looked at me so strangely when he saw me at the dinner party. It was because I was wearing Lilith’s stone.” My brows creased together as I thought of the night that Lucifers dark eyes followe
