Chapter: Endnotes
Hi guys! Wow! I feel like the last chapter has been a long time coming, and for that I am sorry. For those of you who do not follow me on social media, my family has had a run of bad luck with illness over the last month, most recently that we have all been isolating with covid! I feel thankful that we were all able to get through it reletively easily, but it has taken me a few weeks to recover, hence the delay. But Mists of Time has now offically come to a close, and will hopefully be marked as complete during the course of the next week of so. I want to thank each and every one of my readers who have managed to get this far. Your comments and likes are what drives me to keep on writting. If you are not ready for Rosalie and Alexander's story to be over, do not fear! My plan is to pick up straight away with book 2! I have begun working on The Return of the Luna Queen and will share some more information in the n

Chapter: Chapter 89
Some months later… Life had all but returned to normal in Castle Black. After several days of recovery, Alexander had finally found himself once again in full health. And for all of those days, he refused to let me out of his sight. Instead, I found myself bound to his side, forced onto his uncomfortable recovery bed, pressed against him as he caressed the small bump of our unborn child. It seemed that each day that passed by, the small life growing inside me got stronger and before long his tiny kicks could be felt. Alexander knew now that he was to have a son. Something which I already knew in my heart but was confirmed by alexander’s ex vampire lover. A son that not only the history books will record, but Thomas would grow to be one of the most powerful and well-known Black’s in their long history as leaders. He would be the one to see them through to the start of a completely new age. He would be th

Chapter: Chapter 88
“Rosalie.” Alexander murmurs through his sleep. I find myself fighting to pull my eyes open, my temples banging in my head, threatening to bring on the worst headache imaginable. “Alex?” “Rosa. I’m here.” His voiced sounded stronger now. Although still deeply etched with undertones of fatigue. Managing to pull myself up off of the floor, a hand on my head to try and prevent by brain exploding out of it, I find myself at Alex’s bedside once more. Much to my relief to find him alive and well. Opposite me stood a very confounded healer. His glasses askew as he tried to take stock of Alex’s miraculous change. “I don’t know how this is possible. It’s as if all of your side effects have just disappeared. How is this possible.” He murmured to himself whilst inspecting the wound on Alex’s stomach. Although the wound was still very much there, it did at least look better. The harsh red swelling and putrid discharge had abetted, and it look very much as

Chapter: Chapter 87
Alexander Everything around me was cast into darkness. I couldn’t even see my hand before me as I reached out and tried to feel my way out of the darkness. It shrouded me from every corner, the feeling of repression and bleakness sitting heavy upon my chest. No matter which way I turned, there was nothing to be found, nothing to be heard or felt. Just a never-ending pit of helplessness and that there was something missing inside of me. No matter how much I tried to think what I could be missing, I simply couldn’t work it out. In fact, I was struggling to remember anything at all. Nothing really mattered, all that I could find myself caring about was the emptiness, and the feeling of missing something. “Alex.” A voice called out to me through the nothingness. Looking around myself I tried to work out where the voice had come from. It was the sweetest voice I had ever heard, and my heart thrummed

Chapter: Chapter 86
The figure turns towards me with a slowness that chills me to my soul. The mist laying heavily around him so that I could not make out who sits upon the horse. Their leather boot taps the side of the horse gently, pushing the beast to walk forward with impossibly slow steps. Each step closer, only making me even more on edge. “Rosalie?” a voice calls out. My heart stops in my chest, my breathing coming fast. “Shit, they know who we are.” Every inch of my body seizes with fear making it impossible to breath let alone move. Nina’s fight or flight instinct battling within me. She pushes herself to take control, her heightened senses coming into focus as she takes in the figure coming towards us. I turn to make a run for it, only to be held back by Nina. “Will you think rationally for one moment!” she chastises. “Firstly, they are on a horse, there is no way you can outrun them. Secondly, they know who you are

Chapter: Chapter 85
I found myself saddled and ready to ride back to Castle Black within the hour. Having spent moments to ponder what had just happened, I realised that I had no time to waste. It was obvious Veronica’s sudden appearance was no mistake. She was sent by Xavier, just as William had been sent before her. The very fact that she was there at all could only mean that William had failed in his mission. Veronica had been a contingency plan. One that I am sure would also have a plan C. Wolfridge was a hive of day-to-day activity. No one had even been aware of what was happening on the beach below. I was confident that Veronica was not working alone, how she arrived at the secluded beach without anyone noticing was a mystery to me. I could only assume that there were spies amongst us. Both here and in Castle Black. If Veronica knew that William had failed in taking back the werewolf throne, then I would have to assume that so did Xavier. Now that Veronica had also been pu

Chapter: Chapter 64 - Time to Heal
Avalon – 3 years later We left the cave shortly afterwards. Deciding it was probably best to make ourselves scarce before Lord Tyrell and his vampire army came to take back what they believed to be theirs. It was my belief, that whilst everyone thought Lucas dead, the safer we would both be. England was out of the question for us, too many people there knew of us, who we were and the importance that we would have in underworld should we be caught. As much as Lord Tyrell had promised me that I would always be welcome in the underworld, I had to question why? Was it that he hoped to use my status to glean the trust of the demon aristocracy? Did he believe that with me by his side, his transition into power would be made easier? Or was it that he simply wanted to keep his friends close, but his enemies closer. I was not naive; I knew that Lucas and I were Tyrel

Chapter: Chapter 63 - I Will Pull you Back from the Darkness
We sat for a long time in each other’s arms, just talking. About everything.About Lucifer, and Lilith, and Oona. About my father, both biological and the man who raised me for my formative years. About where we go from here. About the hopes hat we have for the small life that was now growing in my womb.No matter how hard I tried, something still niggled inside of me. The echo of the dark thoughts that seemed to invade my mind more and more often over the last few hours. Imploring me to return to the underworld. To absorb the power of the flames and to take my rightful place. To complete my destiny. If my trip to the hells fire had shown me anything, it was that fate was not done with me yet. And that there was no way for me escape it.The idea of there being more to come scared me. When Lilith first told me that I was the key to save the underworld, I believed her. I had no idea that she had put me on a path that would lead me down much a d

Chapter: Chapter 62 - Resurrection
Trigger Disclaimer: Please be aware that the next chapter includes mild themes of suicide.Magda left me with hope flaring in my chest, which lasted all of two seconds before the gapping hole where my heart once sat throbbed painfully, reminding me that it was not possible that Lucas was still alive.Regardless of what she said, he was gone.I have no idea how I had managed to survive the mate bond, and the curse of being twice blessed. But I had. Perhaps one could not happen until I had completed the other? My curse would not allow me to die before I had completed its conditions. Now that they had been I had to wonder, what was the point in living in a word where Lucas did not exist?Regardless of why I did not, I should have died with Lucas in the grounds of the hunters. I should have been consumed by my own power the moment that I killed Lucifer, but I wasn’t. Instead, I am here, alone. The bastard child of an incestuous r

Trigger Disclaimer: The next chapter includes mild themes of rape. I moved towards the door, not bothering to pick up the sword from its resting place. Where I was going, I didn’t need it. As I stepped towards the door which led to the spiral staircase, another person stepped out from the shadows. My eyes flicked up startled by the sudden appearance. My eyes rounded out when Magda came into view before me. “Magda?” I questioned, confused with her sudden arrival. “What are you doing here?” “I am here for the dark lord. Thought I see now my journey was futile.” She mutters, gazing passed me to the pile of Lucifers remains behind me. “You have been busy tonight child.” I watch her cautiously, unsure if I should be worried that she has witnessed what I have done or not. “What will you do Magda?” I ask her, I fight back the flames that struggle to burst forth a

Chapter: Chapter 60 - No Turning Back Now
I stood looking at the place that Lucifer only moments ago stood talking to me as flesh and blood. All that was left of the devil was a smoking pile of ash, and a creeping doubt in my heart.Lucifer’s death had left me with more question than I had ever thought possible. Not only was he suggesting that I was conceived in the underworld, which would mean that I was not only completely demon, but also that my father was not in fact… my biological father. But also, that my mother wasn’t the person I thought that she was. And that he clearly believed that one day my son would be back in the underworld and ruling it.My head span with what he had told me. I didn’t know if the words he had spoken even held an element of truth, or if he was simply trying to get into my head. He was the devil after all. He was known for being a trickster, for being evil!I sat back in the soft arm chair, feeling completely d

Chapter: Chapter 59 - The Dead Cannot Heal
For the first and last time I left the St Leger family home behind, the water gardens having been my only window into what the residents was like. Where my mother had spent the majority of her childhood.A part of me curious, to know the woman who had raised me for 8 years. Who loved me and was so gentle and kind. The other just wanted to be done with the underworld forever.Unsure as to where to start to search for Lucifer. I found myself in the long gallery, pictures of the all the dead and damned family member of the Royal House of Caine. The picture of Lilith hung high up before me, like the Queen presiding over her court. The gallery was quiet, and much darker than the last time we were here. The usual torches which lined the halls of the royal palace unlit casting the room into an eery glow.I stepped forward quickly, with soft footsteps so as not apprise anyone of my approach. The door to the banqueting room was sat slightly ajar, poking my head ar

Chapter: LXXXVII
Estelle The dank smell of decay assaulted my senses as I climb down the steep steps. The slick stones beneath my feet threatening to send me toppling with one small miss-step.“I hate this place.” I mutter. Righting my footing yet again as a stone crumbles out from beneath me, sending a wave of small stones rattling down into the gloom below. This place had always reminded me of death.Even as a little girl, when my father had brought me here for the first time, an excitable ten year old girl, surrounded by my brother’s. Eager to see the Schmidtz family vault. The source of our powers, and a historic linage that could be traced back to the awakening of magic. I realised that this place was far from the fairytale tower of my dreams. Our family had held to the old ways. And it wasn’t until the fateful day that my father presented me at the Malificus Acus that I realised just what that meant.Blood.Sacrifice.Pain.Everything that I cringed back from at such a tender age.I couldn’t und

Chapter: LXXXVI
RosalieIt didn’t take long before the whole pack was aware of news about our expanding family.Just in the short distance from his home to the pack house, it felt like we bumped into every member of the pack in turn. The afternoon seemed to go by quickly. And the pack members seemed to amass at the pack house, all gathering around to wish us well.If it weren’t for the niggling feeling in the pit of my heart, then everything would have been perfect.By the time the sun was beginning to set in the sky, I found myself getting ever the more weary. Seeking the refuge of the evening air, I found myself walking out onto the patio, watching the sun setting in the sky. A glass of non-alcoholic prosecco left untouched on the garden wall as mull over the pain I was feeling deep inside.“Rosie?” Landon came to stand behind me, his strong arms wrapping around me from behind, drawing me into his warmth.I went willingly. Relishing the way my body fitting into his. How his slightly heightened core

Chapter: LXXXV
RosalieThe gate squeaked with a vulgar cry, the sort of high pitch groan that wrang right through your brain setting your teeth on edge.Cringing against the sound, I wasn’t surprised to find the front door swinging open only moments later.“So much for surprising you.” I walk the short distance up the path to the front door of Landon’s home. He was situated just down from the main pack house in the Beta’s cottage. He had grown up here. It belonged to his family before they had been killed, and was gifted to him by Alpha Richard when he came of age. His formative teenage years he has grown up in the pack house under the care of Jo and Richard.“Sorry, I have been meaning to fix that.” He eyes the gate with an embarrassed frown, his hand reaching up to scratch the back of his head as a pale red blush crept up his neck.“On the plus side,” I try to break the awkwardness that had settled between us, “at least you won’t ever get caught out doing something you shouldn’t be!”That was it.

Chapter: LXXXIV
Rosalie Summer was finally here. And feeling the warmth on my face was bliss. Finally reconciling to the idea of my own time, being my future, had been a difficult one. But none the less, I seemed to have found a new rhythm.I hadn’t been ready to fully commit myself to falling headlong into a new relationship. And Landon had been immensely patient with me.No longer wanting to feel a burden to Alpha Richard and Luna Jo, who had taken on responsibility of the pack whilst Drake and Steph took some time for themselves in the wake of all that had happened. I had made the decision to move out of the pack house. It was in Rose Cottage that I found my new normal. It had been difficult at first. Moving into what was my former home. A home which I had made with Alexander and our children. But after the first few months, I found myself now finding comfort in the memories I found here. Some modernisations into the new age, and it starting to feel like a home worthy of times I found myself. It

AlexanderI stood in the midst of the carnage around me.My face taking in the blood-soaked field surrounding me impassively. Bodies littered the ground densely. Heads decapitated; limbs ripped from the sockets. Those unfortunate ones that had now been delivered a deathly blow, lay limp on the ground, crying out in pain. Unable to stand up and leave the battle ground under their own steam, they would eventually succumb to a bittersweet end. Their open wounds would eventually become infected, and they would die miserable and in pain as their blood turned to poison in their veins. That is, if hunger did not get there first.Try as I might, I could not feel anything for the miserable souls lying on the ground. This war had raged for two years. Two years of battle and blood. When one battle was fought, the next would begin. All amassing here, at Castle Black. The blood-soaked ground would never be the same again.I watched as great pyres were built to dispose of the bodies. Pile, upon pil

Chapter: LXXXII
RosalieI followed the rocky path in the moonlight. Wrapping my arms about myself trying to stave off the chilly evening air.I hadn’t come dressed for such an outing. But I couldn’t put it off any longer.Thorns snagged at my jeans and jumper as I kept walking, determined to get where I needed to go. I barely felt the little scratches as I pushed on forwards.By the time the stone circle appeared before me, the crescent moon was almost at its peak. The bright white slither looking down on me and lighting up the clearing with ease. It seemed especially large tonight.“You don’t get to choose my path for me!” I shout at the sky. I had no idea if she would hear me or not. I guess I am no longer her daughter. I am merely a human.I waited, perhaps for an answer, but none came.Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward, one foot in front of the other until I came to the central alter stone. Placing a hand on the hard, cold surface and waited.I am not sure what I was expecting. Even after t

Chapter: Clearing the air
SiennaI could smell him before anything else. The deep masculine scent that was completely out of place in the heavily fragranced floral haven I found myself. It wasn’t an unpleasant smell by any stretch. In fact, quite the opposite. It was as if my body had become attuned to the scent, and sought it out amongst the perfumed blooms. It was like a craving. When all you wanted was something salty, but the table before you, was laid out with nothing but sweets. Mason had become my something salty. And every part of my being longed to open my eyes and seek him out. To rush into his arms and relish his touch. But I refused to allow myself to cave to the persistent nagging within. And then came the sound of his feet crunching along the stone pathway to where I sat.Listening intently to the rhythmic sound of his feet as he made his way towards me with agonisingly slow strides. Was he walking in slow motion? Or was it simply my own mind making things more difficult for me.He came to stop i

Chapter: Jealousy
MasonNot for the first time today, I find myself punching the desk in frustration. In all honesty, no I hadn’t been completely ecstatic about finding my mate in the first place, but when I came to physically have her in my arms, the idea of being without her hurt.I began to allow myself to actually start thinking of a future. About what our lives would look like as we grew older. But all of that came to an abrupt halt the moment that Devon handed me that dress. The dress which now lay as a pile of ash in the hearth of my office. It didn’t matter though. I could burn the whole packhouse to the ground, but that scent. The lingering scent of another man, still lingered in my nostrils. And then, as if that wasn’t enough to set my alter ego alight, then I found her trying to escape me.Sienna was new to our world. That was without question. But there were certain things that ones mate should never do. Firstly, reject or breaking the mate bond. Secondly, running away from your mate. Espec

Chapter: Confessions
SiennaStorming out of the white house and onto the large oval gravel drive, I march straight into the solid wall that was a man’s chest.“Ouff!” the wind was all but knocked out of me, as I visibly rebounded off of the man in question.“Apologies, Luna.” He dipped his head, and stepped to one side.My annoyance at Mason getting the getting the better of me; “My name is Sienna...” I bite out. “Not Luna.” I couldn’t find it in myself to apologies at this moment for my own clumsiness of not looking where I was going. But at this moment I was far too riled up.“Luna is a title, not a name.” The man explained with a churlish grin plastered to his face as I brushed past, every intention of getting as far away from Mason, this house, and whoever this man was, as I possibly could. I stopped in my track though at his comment, and I look over my shoulder at him with a stare that I hoped could induce death is necessary.“I am barely one of your kind. What makes you think I want one of your stra

Sienna“You can’t just keep me locked up in your bedroom like a damsel in distress.”“Once again Sienna, you are not locked in. Look. The door opens.” Mason proceeds to give me a demonstration of how the door, on the opposite side of the room to the one I tried this morning, opened and closed without issue.“I’m talking metaphorically.” I counteract with annoyance as I followed him back into the room. “I have people who will be worried about me. They are probably looking for me right now.”“A boyfriend perhaps?” I couldn’t help but notice the element of bitter jealousy in his words.“What?” I shake off the comments, “No, like friends. Like my carers. I am still legally underage; I need to at least tell them I am safe. I have a job for God’s sake!”“No need.” He walked across to the locked door and opening it with a brass key from his pocket. Entering the second room. I quickly followed him into an office space easily the same size as the bedroom. His office was the polar opposite of h

Chapter: Kidnapped
MasonIt was almost funny how little my little mate knew about her own people. Almost. If it weren’t for the pure rage flowing through my blood at the thought of her trying to escape me, I would have laughed. But the fact remained that, despite the comical scene she had just played out for myself and my Beta, she was now in a shit tone of trouble.I knew the exact moment that Sienna had woken up from her sleep.I listened intently, with a small smile on my face, as I flipped pancakes and chopped fruit to present her. Listening to her light footsteps as she walked about my room.I even found in endearing as the subtle noise of a draw opening and closing filtered down to my ears, and in my mind, I couldn’t help my picture my inquisitive mate rifling through my belongings and trying to learn more about the man she found herself bound too.But all of that was forgotten, the moment I heard the window slide open.I knew instantly what she was about to do.I knew she wouldn’t get far. Chapter: Good Morning Little One
Sienna It was morning. The sun filtering through the window had broken my sleep. And now I lay in a state of not wanting to open my eyes. But at the same time, knowing that I shouldn’t fall back to sleep. It was like my brain was wading through thick sludge as I did my best to draw myself back into the here and now. The remnants of strange swirling figures and distorted faces of people I had no idea who were had plagued my sleep, and still danced intoxicatingly before my closed eye lids. And now, lying in the soft sheets of my bed, it felt like had been caught up in a whirlwind. My brain semi-registered that I was not where I should be, but it couldn’t quite work out where that was.My body ached. More than it had done since my early years of track and field. I ache din places that I had no idea could ache. My head thumped painfully as I prized open a single lid, only to slam it back shut with the blinding light found beyond.“My God, Telle!” I moan, twisting my body into a soft pill
