Chapter 49 - The Wards Are Down

Lilith was right, when the wards came down, everyone in the hunters realm would know of there arrival.

The ground shook under our feet as Lilith cut through the last strands of the portal, allowing Lysander and myself to cross over the borders.  The sound of glass shattering to the floor, and buildings creaking under the sudden movement beneath them was enough of an alarm, that they would soon be besieged by warriors.

Lilith collapsed to the floor in the exhaustion, her face pale and beading with sweat. I paused, unsure whether to help her or carry on with the task at hand, I had a limited window in which to get Avalon and then get out, and the more time that passed, the more difficult it would become.

She waved me away as if to tell me she was alright when she noticed my hesitation. I give her a small nod and follow Lysander across the bridge.
