Chapter 5

Nolan grabbed Simon's wrist and turned to glare at me.

"You couldn't wait, could you?" he sneered. "Grandpa told me everything at lunch, and now, here you are, already out on a date with someone else in the afternoon?"

He then leaned in close and whispered into my ear, "You went through all that trouble to marry me, yet now you're divorcing me for another man?"

I slapped him hard across the face before he could finish talking.

Simon stepped forward to explain, but Nolan, blinded by rage, punched him to the ground. The divorce papers were scattered all over the floor.

"Are you mad?! He's my lawyer!" I shouted, trying to step between them, but Nolan was too furious to listen.

Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my belly.

I saw Nolan's face go pale as he rushed toward me through my blurry vision.

"Yvette, everything will be fine. I'll get you to the hospital. Don't worry!"
