I confirmed Vincent Lowe was cheating on me on the day of our third wedding anniversary. The dining table was filled with dishes, yet he barely touched his fork before heading out the door. "Where are you going?" I asked. His answer was unnervingly straightforward. "A friend's treating me to dinner. Cassidy Mason—you know her, right? It's a free meal. It'd be a waste not to accept." An hour later, however, I received a voice message from Cassidy. In the message, Vincent's voice was lighter and livelier—so different from how he ever sounded with me. "They say you should marry someone you can truly enjoy a meal with. I really regret meeting you so late. If only I had known you earlier, I would've married you instead." I listened in silence. Then, alone at the table, I finished every last bite of the meal I had prepared. Afterward, I left a divorce agreement behind.

Chapter 1

I converted Cassidy's voice message into text, took a screenshot, and made a post with the caption: [My husband's 'foodie buddy' sent me this. Do you think he's cheating?]Evening was peak gossip hour, the best time for entertainment. The moment I hit publish, the comments poured in.[Oh, honey, he's definitely cheating. If you believe they're just pure meal buddies, you might as well believe I'm the King of England!][Emotional cheating is still cheating! You don't have to catch them in bed for it to count. Wake up, sis!]I chuckled softly but didn't reply. I kept scrolling. The post gained traction, climbing the ranks until it went viral. Within moments, there were over ten thousand comments—some urging me to divorce, others dissecting the situation. Then came the critics.[Ugh, another weak-ass wife. If you're not going to divorce him, don't post this kinda content and waste everyone's time!]My finger hovered over the screen. I clicked reply.[I will. Right now.]…"Wha...

Chapter 2
The restaurant had an air of quiet sophistication. Bamboo curtains separated the private booths, elegant yet ineffective at keeping conversations discreet. That was how I heard Vincent's voice so clearly, laced with distaste. The dishes had been served. I lifted my fork but hesitated, my hand freezing midair. My gaze shifted toward the curtain, half-drawn, half-revealing. Through the delicate slits of bamboo, I saw them—just the two of them.Vincent tossed his spoon aside, pulled Cassidy into his arms, and raised a playful brow."Hey, Cassidy, let's go for skewers tonight. Just us."She laughed, leaning into him like it was the most natural thing in the world."Sure. Oh, and since you're off in a couple of days, how about a trip up north? I've planned it all out. The barbecue there is amazing."Vincent agreed without a second thought.I almost lifted the curtain, but my hand stalled. My eyes widened.Time off?Hadn't he told me he'd be on a business trip to Hangston City?A

Chapter 3
Vincent was fast asleep beside me. Perhaps he was feeling cold—his arm tightened around mine, his hand pressing down directly on my stomach. I had a weak stomach to begin with, and now, in the early stages of pregnancy, the pressure sent a wave of nausea crashing over me. Sleep fled instantly. I pushed Vincent away in a panic. He muttered something in his sleep, then rolled over. I didn't spare him another glance. Instead, I ran to the bathroom. After what felt like an eternity of retching, I stumbled out, body weak and exhausted. I needed a glass of warm water, something to settle the churning in my stomach. I assumed Vincent was still asleep. But when I reached the dining table, I found a steaming cup of herbal drink waiting for me. Vincent was sitting nearby, rubbing his eyes, still half-asleep. When he saw me, he sighed, as if exasperated."If I don't watch over you for even a day, you forget to take your medicine, don't you?" he said. "My poor, fragile wife—what wou

Vincent ended the call, grabbed a coat from the bedroom, and headed for the door.As he brushed past me, his shoulder knocked into mine. I staggered, my lower abdomen slamming against the edge of the table. A sharp, piercing pain shot through me.He didn't notice. Didn't stop. Just threw a careless remark over his shoulder."Cassidy isn't feeling well. I need to take her to the hospital."Then, as if that weren't enough, he added, "Stop making a fuss. There's nothing between me and her. We're just friends. If you don't believe me, I'll bring her over once she's better. She can explain it to you herself."The pain left me sweating, my patience worn thin. I pulled out my phone, turned the volume up to its maximum, and hit play on a voice message that Cassidy had sent me."Well then, why don't you let her explain to me in person? What exactly did she mean when she sent me this?" I questioned. For the briefest moment, Vincent stiffened. Then, almost instantly, his face smoothed ov

On the way to the hospital, my head felt heavy. My thoughts were drifting in and out of memories from the past.In my mind, Vincent had always been someone who loved making friends. He enjoyed playing murder mystery games, traveling, gathering with friends for meals, and trying different cuisines. We first met at a mutual friend's drinking party. I had to admit—someone as sunny and handsome as him was always the center of attention, no matter where he was.I was playing a game with my friends, but my eyes kept stealing glances at him. I didn't notice when something had been slipped into my drink.Vincent happened to look up at that moment. His expression turned cold. Without warning, he flipped the table over, exposing everything.A few beer bottles came crashing down. The man responsible was left bloodied, and his head split open. Our friends couldn't hold Vincent back, so they had no choice but to call the police.Even as he was being taken away, he still had the presence of

The ambulance jolted violently over a bump, sending a shudder through the vehicle.Somewhere in the haze, a sliver of consciousness returned to me.Voices swirled around in a chaotic blend of panic and urgency. I felt the warmth of a hand gripping mine tightly—Vincent. He was talking, his words tumbling out in a desperate rush, but they reached me like distant echoes, muffled and distorted. The only thing I could make out was the fear in his voice.A sudden heat brushed against the back of my hand. A tear. His.Yet all I could think of was the moment he had shoved me away, his face twisted in rage, contorted beyond recognition. The absurdity of it almost made me laugh. He was the one who broke his vow. What right did he have to be angry? And now, what was there to cry about?…"Is my baby… still alive?"When I woke up in the hospital, I stared at the ceiling for what felt like an eternity. That was the first thing I asked.I knew Vincent was beside me, keeping vigil. At my

Chapter 7
For the next few days, Vincent did not appear before me.Every morning, before I woke up, he would leave a pot of freshly simmered chicken soup by my bedside. At night, after I had fallen asleep, he would quietly come in, clean up the trash, and pull the blanket over me. He took care of me in silence, never revealing himself—almost as if he were sulking like a child, brooding over the words I had said to him.I didn't bother trying to understand what was going through his mind. I drank the soup without hesitation. After all, I had suffered a miscarriage because of him, and I hadn't even asked for compensation in the divorce agreement. This much, at least, was something he owed me.But I hadn't expected that, on the fourth day of my hospitalization, Cassidy would show up.She was pushed in on a wheelchair, smiling sweetly. Only when she noticed the cold indifference on my face did she finally adjust her expression to something more appropriate."Samantha, I'm so sorry. I had gast

Vincent's face darkened for a brief moment before he finally reacted. He loosened his grip on Cassidy, his brows knitted tightly as he worked to suppress his emotions. He didn't speak.Seeing that he had calmed down, the nurse rolled her eyes before turning away, muttering as she walked off."I've never seen anything like this. The wife just had a miscarriage, and the husband brings his mistress to rub it in. Does he have no shame?"She wasn't trying to keep her voice down. It was obvious the words were meant for them.As soon as the hospital room door shut, Cassidy's sobs grew louder. Vincent held her in his arms, his expression dark and stormy."Samantha, what's wrong with you?" His voice was tight with anger. "You have no proof, so how can you go around slandering an innocent woman like this in front of strangers?"I looked at him, my gaze steady, filled with disappointment. He knew. He knew I never spread rumors and never spoke ill of others behind their backs. And I certain

We arrived at City Hall pretty early, so the wait wasn't long. Before we knew it, it was almost our turn.Vincent finally lost his composure. He grabbed the hem of my shirt just as I was about to stand up. His eyes were red, filled with something between reluctance and desperation."Samantha," he said, his voice strained. "Just this once—can't you forgive me just this once? Is there really no chance for us to start over? Not even the slightest?"I shook my head, my answer firm, leaving no room for doubt."No," I said. "From the moment you crossed that line with Cassidy, it became impossible. Do you remember the vows you made? You swore that I could deal with you however I saw fit if you ever betrayed me. Those were your exact words."The overhead speaker called our number. Vincent closed his eyes briefly, then stood up and followed me inside. The process was quick. The clerk informed us we could collect the final paperwork in thirty days. Before she could even finish speaking, Vi

I paused for a moment, listening as he downed an entire glass in one gulp. Only then did he continue speaking."I'm sorry, Samantha. I've already cut ties with Cassidy. I've looked into everything. She deliberately sent you that message. She wanted to switch jobs and used her connections to get into my drinking party, intentionally approaching me. She never had any real interest in being with me. She's just someone who enjoys playing games. I've already blacklisted her in the industry. At least in our city, she won't be finding a job in our field anytime soon."Vincent took a deep breath, his voice catching slightly."I knew you never said anything bad about Cassidy at the hospital. I knew you weren't that kind of person. That day, I just wanted to get a reaction out of you. Even if we fought, at least later I could try to make it up to you. But you looked so withdrawn, so distant, during those days in the hospital. I was really worried. I think I fucked up big time."With each sen
