Chapter 8

There was a hint of sadness in Nolan's eyes.

I tried to pull my hand away, but he only gripped it tighter. It wasn't until I pretended to be in pain that he finally let go.

Five minutes later, he came back with a share transfer agreement. I looked at him, feeling confused.

Then, to my surprise, Nolan knelt on one knee before me and gently took my hand.

"These shares represent all of my holdings in the company. I'm giving them all to you. Will you accept them?"

Nolan looked at me with hopeful eyes. It was almost as if he was waiting for me to forgive him, embrace him happily, and overlook everything he had done to me over the past three years of our marriage.

"No."

The smile on Nolan's face instantly fell when he heard my response, and his grip on my hand tightened.

"Tell me, what can I do for you to forgive me?"

"Fire Ruby," I said without any hesitation.
