Jasmine’s POV

The day I had been dreading finally came.

I woke up once again to an empty bed.

Since that was not anything new, I simply readied myself for the day before making my way out of the room.

I joined Lena in the kitchen of our house and together, we prepared breakfast.

Nana was absent, as she usually was due to Gaia’s presence, and Regan’s Gamma and his mate had moved out to live in a small cabin of their own not to far away from the pack house after having their pup.

Since our house had several more rooms, Gaia and Alpha Gaius were asked to move in since they were going to be in our pack longer than they had initially planned.

Lena was thrilled with this development, but however pleased I was for her, I could not shake the suspicion that Regan had prepared it all to have me protected at all times.

It felt like he had placed people everywhere to protect me in his absence and as much as I loved and appreciated his protective nature, there was only so much eyes on me I could take.

But I said nothing about this to Lena, afraid that I might quell her joy.

After all, it was my fault for leaving all the arrangements and decision making for my mate to handle.

If I had stepped up to make decisions as well, I was sure some things would have gone my way.

But I hadn’t and so, had no right to complain.

However, with Regan and Luke leaving, I would have no choice but to step into the role of leadership and start making decisions.

After all, I was the Luna of the Midnight Wolves pack.

It was high time I acted like it and Regan’s absence would be the perfect opportunity.

Goddess knew I loved my mate, but if he had a choice, I wouldn’t have to do anything ever, simply relax and enjoy all he worked hard to provide.

Since Gaia and Alpha Gaius were set to move in that evening, we did not bother to include them in our plans for breakfast.

We were informed earlier that Regan and Luke would not have breakfast either, so Lena and I simply prepared breakfast for both of us.

We ate amid discussing our plans for the day and cleaned up, before making our way out of the house and over to the pack house where I was certain my mate would be.

As expected, he was in front of the pack house alongside Luke and the warriors he was to travel with.

They were organizing their things for their mission. Several horses and two carts were also there.

I spotted my mate in conversation with Alpha Gaius so Lena and I made our way over.

Both men stopped speaking on sensing our approach.

Regan turned around to take me into his arms while Lena walked into the arms of her mate.

He kissed me on the lips briefly before burying his head in my neck to inhale my scent and place kisses on the spot where I bore his mark.

“Did you sleep well?” He asked as he pulled away to simply hold me.

I nodded with a smile.

“Well, it’s not as though someone let me have much sleep last night”, I said with a look of accusation that made him chuckle.

He leaned down and took my lips again. This time, the kiss was not brief, and the intensity of it brought back memories of the previous night.

By the time he pulled away, I was panting for breath and certain that my lips were swollen, a look I suspected he secretly enjoyed.

“I will miss you”, he said fervently, bringing his forehead to rest on mine.

My eyes instantly turned misty.

“Not half as much as I will miss you”, I said, trying my best to be brave and not start crying. I took his hand and brought it to my stomach so he could rest his palm on it. “We will miss you”, I told him.

He pulled me into another kiss, holding me tightly to himself as though he never wanted to let go.

I held on tightly to him as well, scared to be without him, or worse, to imagine something happening to him while he was away.

He finally stopped kissing me and hugged me close.

“Come back home to us”, I told him. “Safely and without a scratch on you”, I said and pulled away to look up at him.

“Promise me”, I requested.

He nodded.

“I will come home to you”, he said and touched my stomach once more. “To both of you. I promise”, he said, before pulling me back into his arms and holding me for a while.

He finally pulled away on sensing Lena approaching us.

He released me to take her into his arms and hold her for a brief moment before pulling away.

He put one arm over her and pulled me close with the other, hugging the both of us.

“You both must look after each other”, he said. “Keep each other safe”.

I nodded as Lena answered. “We will”, she said before he released us both.

He turned to Lena and must have mind linked her because her eye turned misty and she nodded.

Before I could ask what that was about, Alpha Gaius drew close.

“Gaius has agreed to stay until we come back from our journey”, he said before turning to me. “In my absence, you are in charge”, he said. “You can ask Gaius for advice whenever you are in need of it. Gaia, Nana and Lena will help you as well”, he informed. “My Gamma will handle the daily routines. He will need your approval and guidance on important Pack matters, so he may come to you often”, he said.

Feeling overwhelmed, I simply nodded and looked down.

His hand came up to lift my chin and bring my eyes back to his.

“Do not be afraid”, he said. “Whatever assistance you might need would be provided for you”, he assured. “All I ask is that you take care of yourself and our pup”, she said, looking at me with those gorgeous eyes.

“And never forget, no matter what happens”, he said. “That you are Luna of the Midnight Wolves Pack”, he said and moved his hand to cup my face before he continued. “And that I love you very much”, he declared.

I had heard him say he loved me several times before. He always referred to me as his love and told me he loved me during and even after love making, while I laid in his arms.

But something about the way he said it brought fresh tears to my eyes. And this time, I didn’t fight to hold them back.

I allowed the tears fall as I threw my arms around his neck and embraced him, knowing without a doubt the sincerity of the words I was about to speak next.

“I love you, Regan”, I said. “More than you can ever know”, I said as I held him tightly, ignoring the fact that Lena and her mate stood not too far away and that every other warrior around could probably hear and see us.

He wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me off my feet.

I wasted no time in wrapping my legs around his waist and burying my face in his neck.

I would miss his scent.

In fact, I was going to miss everything about him.

Realizing that, I started to kiss his neck, moving up to his chin, then jaw before meeting his lips once again.

He wasted no time in taking over the kiss and devouring my lips.

Remembering that we had an audience and that our kiss was getting too heated, I tried to pull away but he would not let me.

When he finally lifted his head, it was to throw an order at Luke.

“Luke!” He called out since Luke was quite some distance away.

At his call, Luke looked up from his task.

“Ensure everything thing is ready for our journey”, he said, before carrying me into the pack house.

As we disappeared from sight, I caught the teasing glance Lena threw at me as well as the knowing looks on the faces of some of the warriors.

I felt heat rush to my cheeks.

With quick strides, he brought us to his study in no time and placed me on top of his desk, moving to stand between my legs before bringing his lips back to mine to resume devouring it.

I was sure I had been about to protest about something before he started to kiss me, but whatever words of protest I had been about to say simply disappeared from my mind.

As we kissed, his hands wasted no time in roaming all over my body, touching places only he had the liberty to.

I moaned into our kiss and allowed my hands begin their exploration of his body as well.

We had made love intensely the night before and I still felt a little sore from our love making.

But as his touch started to bring me back to life again, all I craved was him.

“Regan”, I moaned out.

Already knowing me well enough, it was all my mate needed to hear to understand my urgent need of him.

He didn’t take off all our clothes.

He simply ripped my undergarments and pulled down his trousers before joining us in the way we both craved.

I moaned out as he began to move, his movements wasting no time in quickening.

I cried out his name as he pounded into me again and again, and tried my best to hold out until he finally joined me to reach heights we could only attain together.

I fell into his arms, panting and spent, the feeling of soreness returning the moment he pulled out of me.

He held me tightly, ignoring my sweaty neck as he planted kisses over it.

I could hear him breathing heavily as well, and knowing that I could make him as breathless as he made me gave me a feeling of pride.

“Tell me again”, he mumbled a while later, still holding me in his arms.

I pulled away to look up into those mesmerizing eyes that had the power to render me weak.

“Tell me you love me again”, he demanded, looking down at me with such a tender look that spoke words in itself.

It suddenly occurred to me that although he had told me he loved me several times before, I had yet to express my love for him in words.

So I looked him in the eye, and let him see the truth of my words in my eyes as well.

“I love you”, I said, my voice coming out just above a whisper. “I did not know what love was until I met you”, I told him. “I did not even know it existed until you showed it to me”, I said honestly. “If I am the Goddess then you are my Moon. That is how much I love you”, I declared. “My life would have no meaning without you in it”, I brought a hand up to cup his face. “You are the essence of my existence”, I confessed, a stray tear rolling down my cheek as the words left me.

At my words, he pulled me into his arms and embraced me tightly.

“You are everything”, he said, holding me for a while before pulling away to look down. “I will hurry and come back to you”, he said.

“And I will be waiting”, I said, leaning forward to kiss him again.

A short while after, we made our way out of his study and the pack house to see that Nana, Gaia, and other members of our pack had arrived to bid our Alpha and warriors goodbye on their journey.

After giving instructions to Alpha Gaius, Nana and his Gamma, he embraced both Nana and Lena once again and kissed me one last time before mounting his horse.

Luke came up to us and embraced the three of us, handing me a wooden toy he reluctantly admitted he had made for our unborn pup.

To his surprise, I kissed his cheek in gratitude, telling him to return home safely before he mounted his horse as well.

As they rode away, I blinked back tears.

It would not do to cry in front of my entire pack.

After all, I was Luna.
