When I opened my eyes, the strong smell of antiseptic filled the air.

I shifted uncomfortably, and the movement seemed to wake Felix. His eyes were bloodshot, and when he saw I was awake, he quickly pressed the call button. “Are you okay?”

I nodded, trying to shake off the grogginess. “I’m fine.”

Then I asked, “What about Blake? Is he in jail? And what about Xena?”

“Xena’s badly injured. She’s paralyzed from the neck down. Blake crashed the car into a bridge. He hurt his hand but got arrested.

“But he held onto you the whole time. You didn’t get hurt.

“You just passed out from the shock and have a few minor scrapes.”

I was a bit surprised. I didn’t think he would actually try to crash the car.

But I was glad he survived. Now he would face justice.

I had already come to terms with dying. If taking down a monster like him was the price, I was willing to pay it.
