Chapter 11

“There’s a ghost! A ghost!” Xena screamed.

Her eyes were wide with fear as she stumbled backward until she crashed into the eight-tier cake Felix had prepared.

She fell right into it, and in that moment, I saw her reach for the cake knife.

She wiped the frosting off her face. She saw me laughing and, in a panic, hurled the knife straight at me.

Everyone at the party was stunned, frozen in shock.

Just as the knife was about to hit me, Felix rushed forward and shielded me with his body. The blade slashed across his back, and blood immediately started to pour.

“Daddy!” I cried softly, then burst into loud sobs.

Grandma kicked Xena hard and rushed over, tears streaming down her face as she hugged Felix and me.

The room erupted into chaos, with me and Grandma crying hysterically, and the whole place in an uproar.

Seeing that I was unharmed, Felix let out a sigh of relief. Ignoring the pain in his back, he picked me up.

He turned to Xena, his eyes blazing with anger, and said firml
