Chapter 1-Injured

“Young Master, your father has arrived.”

Alexander wrinkled his straight and narrow nose at the news. He hated him and everyone around his father. He wanted to get up from the bed so he wouldn’t have to meet him, but he couldn’t due to his injuries.

“Young Master, please don’t try to move; your wound will only bleed more.” Tibor begged the young man. Even though he was seriously wounded by his enemy, he still had the strength to get up.

“Tch, you’re worthless!” Alexander almost threw something at Tibor to vent his anger.

“I’m sorry, Young Master!” Tibor bowed his head and was ready to kneel in front of Alexander to forgive him.

Tibor knew that the last thing his master would want was for his father to see him in such a state. He was forever stuck with the prideful father-and-son who both didn’t want to lose to each other. It was as if they want to kill each other whenever they were in the same room. However, despite of that, one couldn’t ignore the other in rare situations such as the given.

“Get out!” Alexander snarled at the man.

Tibor quickly went out to prevent angering him even more. He was more concerned about his condition than his anger towards him.

“Did he get mad at you again?”

Tibor quickly turned to the familiar voice and bowed to pay his respect to Alexander’s father. "Good evening, Mr. Chairman!"

Laurenzo sighed and looked at the closed door. He didn’t know what to do to fix his relationship with his son, for it to be just like it used to be. His son used to be obedient and loving. Since his mother died, he had become stubborn. He started doing everything he wanted, often leading to his own detriment. It had been ten years, and now that he can stand on his own feet, his behavior just worsened. He grew to be like him, domineering and arrogant.

Tibor watched the man with pity. Their ages weren’t significantly different and he had a lot of respect for him. He could see Laurenzo’s weakness when they were alone. But around everyone else, especially in front of his son, he was like a lion always ready to attack.

“Was he seriously injured?” Laurenzo asked.

“The wound on his left side abdomen was deep. But the doctor made sure that he’ll recover just fine.”

“Has the person who did this to him been caught?” he asked Tibor again.

“It has not yet been determined which of your enemies did this.”

Laurenzo sighed again and angrily kicked the wall. He had many enemies because of his previous job. But he left the organization then for Alexander’s safety. He thought he left peacefully, but there were people who held grudges against him and would go out of their way to bring him down. Especially now that the business he started from scratch had been prosperous.

“What do you plan to do with the Young Master?”

“Maybe it’s time to change his guard.”

Tibor was saddened by the man’s decision.

“It’s not that I don’t trust you or anything. You’re getting older and you’re too soft on my son. He needs a strong person who won’t be afraid of him to defy his stupid acts.” Laurenzo told Tibor.

“I understand, Mr. Chairman. But you know your son and you have tried this plan several times.”

Tibor was right, he had tried several times to replace Tibor in his place. But nobody else could tolerate his son. Alexander often made those bodyguards into his punching bag, and so, they quit. Tibor was an exception; he couldn’t bring himself to hurt him. Tibor was the type who seemed to have endless patience and was willing to get roasted by Alexander. In truth, he was jealous because his son respected Tibor more than him. Tibor was more like a father to him because he was always absent.

“I know that Alexander will just find ways to get the person I’m assigning off his path. That’s why I figured you’d be the one to resign and choose someone to take care of him. Don’t worry, you’ll still stay but as my assistant.”

Tibor pondered; he was afraid of what else the chairman thought.

“He will not reject you, Tibor, especially when he sees that you are already weak.” Laurenzo persuaded him.

“But—”

“I heard that your adoptive son has graduated and that he wants to be a police.”

Tibor quickly looked away from the Chairman and didn’t like what he was thinking.

“I didn’t intend to force you into the situation, Tibor. But this is the only way I could think of to get my son to obey. You don’t want what happened to happen to him again, do you?” Laurenzo explained in a remorseful tone.

“I don’t know if I can get him to agree.” Tibor felt troubled. His adoptive son was just as stubborn as Alexander.

“I’ll talk to him myself, what you should take care of is how to get my son to agree. If you have to get hurt, do it so that we both benefit.” Laurenzo said, he knew that the man knew what he meant.

Tibor took a deep breath and nodded. It was obvious that he was unwilling but had no other choice but to agree.

Laurenzo smiled imperceptibly at the sight of Tibor’s surrender. He couldn’t just replace the man as his son’s guard because Alexander trusted him.

Tibor couldn’t stop him when he went inside. He followed suit because he was worried about his young master. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the young man was sleeping. He knew he was just pretending to be asleep, but this was better than arguing with his father again.

Laurenzo shook his head as he stared at his son’s face. He had a lot of bruises on his face and a support was placed on his neck to keep his head from moving. Even his arm was bandaged. He couldn’t see the wound on his abdomen and he didn’t want to see it either.

“Tell the police to quickly investigate. I want to catch the culprit immediately!”

“Yes, Mr. Chairman!” Tibor answered politely while bowing his head.

Alexander’s teeth gritted as he listened to his father’s words. Instead of feeling happy about his concern, he was just pissed off. To say he was angry was an understatement, because of his being a workaholic and founding the organization, his mother died. He wanted to snatch the government’s power, making an enemy out of those people. His father had lost time with them; their lives were always in danger. And now that he wanted to take revenge on those who murdered his mother, that man suddenly changed. Only when he lost his mother did he wish to turn over a new leaf.

“I know he doesn’t want to see me especially in his current state, so I won’t be long.” He looked at his son who he knew was just pretending to be asleep before stepping out of the room.

“Be careful, Mr. Chairman!”

Laurenzo turned to Tibor who opened the door for him. ”Don’t forget our deal,” he whispered.

Tibor nodded with his mouth shut. He waited for the man to leave with his bodyguards before closing the door. There was also a guard outside to ensure the safety of the young master.

Alexander immediately opened his eyes when he heard the door close. “What else are you doing here?” he asked Tibor impolitely.

“I’m leaving to help find the person who did this to you.” He answered firmly as he gathered his things.

Alexander remained emotionless as he watched him. There was only a long silence until he left the room.

Tibor sighed after the door closed. He glanced at the door before finally leaving. He approached the guards and instructed them sternly. “You must always be alert. Don’t allow anyone else to enter except for his doctor.”

“Rest assured, Sir.”

“Don’t leave the Young Master alone with the doctor if he comes.” He continued to instruct, they couldn’t afford to trust anyone now for the young man’s sake.

The three guards answered simultaneously in response to Tibor’s order.

Tibor left the private hospital along with his assistant Bugoy.

“Where are we going, Boss?” Bugoy asked before starting the car’s engine.

"Fifth avenue," he replied shortly.

Bugoy looked at the man, his expression grave. That place was dangerous because many of their enemies lived there.

“Shut up, I know what I’m doing.”

“But, Boss, I don’t want to be with the grim reaper yet.” Bugoy joked in an effort to lighten the man’s mood.

Tibor sniggered and grinned, “you can leave after you take me there.”

“Oh, I’m afraid that’s what can’t be done, Boss.”

The smile on Tibor’s lips widened even more. He patted his assistant on the shoulder. He was pleased with the young man’s loyalty to him. He didn’t want him to be clueless, so he told him the plan beforehand.
