Chapter 6-Arrogant

“If you can convince my Dad to remove this man from his position, you can take care of me.”

Rose looked at the man that Alexander was pointing at. He was watching them with a poker face. It seemed like he was used to Alex’s bad attitude, and that he wasn’t scared or even recognized him as his master. “I will talk to your Dad if you don’t like this man. Honestly, I also don’t like him.”

Dylan just shook his head when Alexander smiled. He could be childish sometimes. He glanced at the clock before stepping toward the woman. “Your visiting minutes are up, please leave.”

Alexander’s grin widened as Rose’s eyes became round.

“What? I’ve been here for mere ten minutes!”

“Would you prefer to leave by yourself or be dragged outside?” Dylan didn’t sound like he was joking.

Rose turned to Alex to ask for support, but he just smiled and shrugged. She understood why she was given a chance to talk to him; it even seemed as if they were on good terms. But she didn’t expect that Tibor’s replacement was a worse person. She stormed out of the room and called her boyfriend.

“You can ask for anything except what you want to happen right now.” Laurenzo already read her mind.

“But, Babe, Alexander doesn’t like him. And aren’t you happy your son finally talked to me? It’s a good opportunity for me to get close to him if you grant me this wish.” Rose masked her irritation with feigned calmness.

“Exactly, he doesn’t like that man, so I can’t give you what you want.” He said.

Rose hung up on her boyfriend in annoyance. She couldn’t help but think sometimes that they weren’t like father-and-son. Because they kept going against each other’s wishes.

In a corner unnoticed, there hid a person who had been tailing Rose. The person quickly called their boss.

“Are you sure about that?”

“Yes, Boss, Tibor really left. But according to what I’ve head, the one who replaced him is stronger.” The man walked away from Rose.

“Get to know him. I want him gone from our path as soon as possible.”

“As of now, Boss, we can’t get near Alexander because his guards are stricter now.”

“How’s that nurse?”

“We already got rid of her. Her corpse would probably be found floating in the river tomorrow.”

The person smirked at the report. “Very well! Don’t make such failures again!”

“Yes, Boss.” The man kept watch around the hospital again after the call ended.

In his office, Laurenzo sighed as he looked out the window. He could see many other buildings from the 10th floor. The business he worked hard for had been successful, but his son didn’t want to inherit it. Perhaps it was time to use coercion on him. He stopped ruminating when the intercom sounded.

“Mr. Chairman, Mrs. Carneval has arrived,” Lucian informed him.

Laurenzo frowned upon the mention of the person who wanted to see him. It had been several years since he last talked with the woman. “Let her in.”

“Brother!” Romana called to him excitedly.

“Why are you here?”

Romana stopped herself from hugging her brother. She looked at him sadly. “Brother, didn’t you miss me?”

“You know my answer to that, Romana.” Laurenzo was cold to his only sibling.

Romana turned even sadder as she looked away from her brother. He still doubted her; he suspected that she had something to do with his wife’s death. Her husband was one of the mafia’s founder. Their organization’s objective was to rebel against corrupt politicians. But some of the members were greedy with their ulterior motives.

“Your husband is already the leader, what else do you need?” Laurenzo asked in a detached manner.

“Brother, you know my husband was just forced to take the position you left behind for your sake.”

“But they are still going after my son’s life until now!”

“Conrad is doing everything he can to find the person who wants to kill Alexander. But your son himself always go looking for trouble. You once ruled the organization, so you know how it runs.”

Laurenzo glared at his sister. He knew they had nothing to do with what was going on in his life now. But due to Conrad’s negligence, his relationship with the government was not going well. He, on the other hand, was still a renowned person in the organization even though he had left a long time ago. He was more known for his prosperous, legal business.

“You don’t believe me, perhaps my husband’s guess was correct?”

“What do you mean?” Laurenzo narrowed his eyes.

“Are you planning to disband the organization using your son?” Romana revealed her accusation.

“Are you stupid?!” Laurenzo raised his voice. “I wouldn’t have left the organization and pass my title to your husband if I didn’t care about my son!”

Romana felt bad about accusing her brother without enough evidence, but she wouldn’t take it back. “I hope that’s true, Brother. It’s what the members of the organization are thinking because of the trouble Alexander caused.”

“Leave now, tell your husband that if he doesn’t find the traitor sooner, your accusation of me might just come true!”

Romana was filled with apprehension because she knew her brother didn’t know how to joke. She quietly turned her back and left the office.
