Chapter 5-Argument

“HAVE YOU heard the news?”

Rose raised her eyebrow at her gay friend. “If it’s something bad, then don’t tell me.”

“Are you sure you don’t want to hear it? It’s about the son of the man you want to marry.” Jacob gracefully sat across his ambitious friend.

Rose straightened her posture; she was suddenly interested. She and Laurenzo were frequently together, but he seldom talked about his son. She only knew that Alexander was hospitalized, she had no other information about his condition. Her boyfriend never allowed her to visit his son either because the young man didn’t like her.

The gay fellow stretched out his palm to Rose, his left eyebrow arching.

Rose reluctantly grabbed her purse and scooped up thousand dollars in exchange for his gossip.

Jacob smiled widely as he counted five thousand dollars. “Well,” he began as he put the money in his own bag. “I just found out that Tibor had resigned from his job, so there will certainly be more villains seeking to harm your stepson.”

“Really?” She couldn’t believe it; she knew Alexander would definitely not let that happen. She became even more eager to know what happened and why the young man had let go of Tibor.

“Well, I also heard that Tibor was replaced by someone younger.” Jacob continued.

“I’m leaving!” Rose suddenly stood up and left her friend.

“Hey, you haven’t payed for our meals!” Jacob protested.

“I already gave you the money, so take care of it.” Rose smiled at Jacob, then she left in a hurry.

Jacob stomped his feet in annoyance. He got tricked again. He ordered a lot, so there would be little left of the money that she gave.

Rose quickly went to the hospital where Alexander was confined. She had the guts to go since Tibor would no longer be there to block her from getting close to the young man. She asked Laurenzo, and he agreed, but whether she’d be let in was not up to either of them.

Dante and Troy quickly guarded against Rose to prevent her from entering.

“I just want to visit Alexander, so give way to me!”

“I’m sorry, Madame, but we have to ask the Young Master first if we shall let you enter.” Troy was polite despite the woman’s aggressiveness.

“How dare you! Don’t you recognize me?” Rose was annoyed; whe thought the guards wouldn’t be as strict now.

“What’s all the ruckus about?” Dylan asked when he opened the door.

“And who are you?” The woman did not shy away from showing her hostility as she looked at the well-built man.

Dylan carefully observed the woman’s face. Even though this was their first encounter, he already had an idea of who she was. “What business did you come here for?”

“Huh, who is this ignorant man to not know who I am?” Rose asked Dante in disbelief.

Alexander was woken up by the noises outside his room. He already knew who the woman was just by hearing her voice.

“He is Mr. Tibor’s replacement,” Dante answered politely.

Rose stared intently at the man. She couldn’t believe that Laurenzo let someone like him become Alexander’s main guard. These events had become a puzzle to her.

“Let her in.”

Rose was even more surprised when she heard her boyfriend’s arrogant son. What was up with him to allow her? The man named Dylan still followed her inside. She didn’t like being watched by him like he was judging her whole person.

“Alex, I heard that a nurse attempted to harm you, are you okay?”

“Don’t touch me.” Alexander shooed Rose when she tried to lay a hand on him. “Now that you’ve seen me alive, you can leave.”

Rose slowly retracted her hand and smiled sadly. “Alex, you know that I think of you as my own son. I heard that Tibor has left, so please let me take care of you.”

“Ask my dad.”

Rose’s eyes widened slightly due to his answer. She wasn’t used to the calm demeanor he was using to treat her right now. He was even smiling, but it just made her feel apprehensive.
