Chapter 1 The pregnant mute Luna

"Stop trying to get pregnant. No one expects a mute omega to bear the heir of the pack!"

In the bedroom, Alyssa nervously stared at the positive pregnancy test in her hand. She was pregnant again.

The cold words of her mate, Ezekiel, the alpha of the Moon Stone Keepers pack, echoed in her mind, just as they had when she had her last miscarriage.

As Ezekiel’s fated mate, they had been bound for five years. Alyssa had always hoped that he would eventually warm up to her, that he would love her the way he was supposed to.

But Ezekiel had shattered her hopes countless times with his icy gaze. He truly wished for her death.

Just as he had said five years ago: "Why does it have to be you, a mute omega?! My biggest regret is letting you stay in the pack. You should have been taken by those rogues, just like your parents!"

She was devastated. How could he be so cruel? She wasn’t born a mute omega. When she was eight years old, rogues had attacked her parents’ pack. She had lost her voice and her wolf.

But Ezekiel’s disgusted gaze drained all the strength from her body. She wanted to reject Ezekiel. She didn’t care about the title of Luna. But Ezekiel’s father had forced him to accept her—unless he wanted to give up his position as alpha.

Ezekiel had withdrawn all the sympathy and care he had once shown her.

Everyone in the pack saw her as a thief, someone who had stolen the title of Luna from Cindy, the pack’s star. From that day on, her life had turned into a living hell.

Tears streamed down her face as the pain tore through her once again. Should she tell Ezekiel that she was pregnant again?

Maybe he would cherish this pup’s birth? After all, they had already lost one child.

Bang!

Suddenly, a loud noise snapped her out of her thoughts—the front door had been slammed open, followed by heavy footsteps.

Ezekiel walked in.

Alyssa’s stomach twisted into knots. She quickly flushed the pregnancy test down the toilet, her fingers trembling slightly.

His tall frame loomed in the shadows, his black hair disheveled and falling over his forehead. The strong scent of alcohol clung to him. His shirt was wrinkled, the collar unbuttoned, revealing his muscular chest. His jaw was clenched tightly, his lips pressed into a thin line. Even in his drunken state, he exuded an undeniable aura—powerful, domineering, and possessive.

Then she saw it.

A smudge of lipstick on his neck.

Cindy’s lipstick.

Cindy had done this on purpose.

Alyssa’s stomach churned as if someone had gripped it tightly. Cindy, the perfect beta wolf, Ezekiel’s childhood sweetheart, his ideal Luna. She had everything Alyssa didn’t—a voice, confidence, the pack’s adoration, and Ezekiel’s heart.

She was the reason Ezekiel hated Alyssa so much.

"What are you doing here?" Ezekiel’s voice was low and cold, dripping with undisguised disgust.

"What should I do? Will Ezekiel demand that I abort the baby?" Alyssa bit her lip, watching in agony as Ezekiel approached.

"Come here!" Ezekiel commanded again.

Alyssa swallowed the lump in her throat and forced herself to step forward. She was his wife. No matter how painful it was, she had a role to play.

When she noticed he was almost losing his balance, she immediately rushed to support him. "Be careful," she signed.

Ezekiel’s sharp gaze immediately turned to her, and her spine began to tremble.

No! Terrified, she wanted to run, but his large hand gripped her wrist. "Look at me," he growled, his voice low and commanding, sending shivers down her spine. She couldn’t bear to face the disgust in his eyes.

"Look into my eyes, mate!" he ordered again. Alyssa lifted her gaze, staring into those mesmerizing blue eyes. "Tell me, do you want me to fuck you?" he panted.

Her eyes widened, her mouth opening as she tried to voice her refusal, but Ezekiel suddenly bit her lip.

Before Alyssa could cry out, he pinned her to the ground like a beast, her hands held above her head. She tried to resist, but every touch sent electric currents to her core, and soon she went limp.

She wanted him, unconsciously spreading her legs in invitation—

He thrust into her roughly. "Fuck! I want this!"

"Mmm~" Alyssa began to moan in pleasure.

The last time they had slept together, he had been drunk too.

Only when Ezekiel was out of his mind could she feel his desire for her. She eagerly matched his thrusts.

She felt him roughly filling every part of her, each thrust bringing both pleasure and pain.

Soon, the pleasure outweighed the pain.

"Ezekiel—" she silently chanted his name in her mind every time she reached her peak.

The intense lovemaking lasted until dawn. After releasing inside her several times, he finally let her go. Alyssa kept her eyes on him, but he simply picked up his clothes from the floor and left without a glance.

"Just because we had sex doesn’t mean I’ll acknowledge you as my Luna," Ezekiel said coldly before leaving. "Remember to take your pills. I don’t want a repeat of last time."

Pain washed over Alyssa like a tidal wave. She knew he was referring to the fact that he didn’t want her to get pregnant.

But the truth was, she was pregnant again. She had read about similar cases online—unless the pup had an incredibly strong will to be born, it wouldn’t have clung to her womb under such cold marital conditions.

Yet her pup had held on tightly. Though it was still just a fertilized egg, she could feel the unborn pup’s love for her.

She looked down sadly at her flat stomach, gently cradling it.

This time, she would do everything in her power to protect her child—without letting anyone in the pack know.
