It was hard to believe what was coming out of Zachary’s mouth. I desperately wanted him to wrong. I needed him to tell me that he was only saying these things because he was jealous of Alan, because he hated Alan. But the look on his face as he said them, told me all I needed to know.

And now, it all made sense. Everything made sense to me now as I began to recollect every encounter Alan and Zachary had had. Yes, they hated eachother, but now I knew it was because of what happened during their childhood. Zachary hated Alan because Alan’s family had taken away his and made him grow up miserable.

“Does Alan know about this?” I asked when the shock of the whole revelation began to subside, and Zachary shrugged his shoulders indifferently.

“If you are asking if he knows his family is a fraud, he does. And so does his mother and even his sister. But if you are asking if they know that I was the former alpha’s son, they do not.”
