I heard a loud whistle and I looked around from where the sound come.
I knew it meant danger, I had heard that sound in school many times.
My eyes darted round in fear.
"Hey ogre!!" I heard a loud voice from behind the abandoned house in beside me.
Spencer McHaton.
"Medium rare!!!" Another gruff voice called out as my heart beat loudly in fear.
"Leave me alone!" I cried out in fear as I hurried away from the lonely road I always took home.
As my feet took me hurriedly away, I was not looking at my front until I bumped into a wall, hitting my chest and I fell to the floor, scraping my hands in the process.
"Where are you running to Princess?"
When I opened my eyes, shaking away the thundering headache that was suddenly in my head, I came face to face with the wall had stumbled into.
Harper, Spencer's fraternal crazy twin.
"I don't want any problem please, leave me alone please. I just want to go home" I cried as I saw my bleeding arms.
"Are you calling me a troublemaker?" Harper asked as he looked at me with a grin too wide for his face.
"No, Harper please. I didn't do anything" I cried as I cleaned my tears.
"She's calling you by your name now? When did she grow such balls?" Tatiana asked as she came up behind me, and soon all the others came in and towered over me on the floor.
"No, please. I'm hurting, just let me go home "I cried.
"Why? We heard what you did to Lucy, you lying ugly conniving bitch."
"Who knew an annoying piece of shit like you can be two faced? You had the mind to betray her?" Jojo said and stomped on my foot.
I cried and held my leg.
"Stop please!" I sobbed.
"Why? We're just here to return the favour. Maybe give you a taste of what you gave out"
"I swear I didn't do anything to her" my chest heaved with cries.
"Are you calling us liars? You're calling sweet Lucy a liar?" Imani snickered at me and I shook my head vigorously.
"No that's not what I said" I tried to clean my eyes.
"Oh, so you're the liar? Are you agreeing to the fact that you are a cheap, ugly looking, betraying snake?" Jerry asked chewing his gum and smiling.
They were enjoying my suffering
"No..."
"Yes?" Harper replied for me before I could finish taking "Then you need to be taught a lesson"
Oh moon goddess please, I need help. I thought in alarm.
Harper grabbed my leg and tried to pull me towards the abandoned house.
"No, no, no, please!" I struggled and tried to fight back but Spencer grabbed my other leg.
They all high fived each other laughing as I cried in misery.
“Leave her alone!" A very loud voice from behind us stopped them.
They stopped moving and turned to face the owner of the voice.
Caine's mouth was billowing smoke and his other hand stuck in his pocket.
"Caine man, what's up? Where have you been all these days" Jerry went up to Caine and tried to shake hands with him but Caine pushed him away to the side.
"Let her go" he repeated to Spencer, without blinking or smiling, only the smoke coming out of his mouth as he spoke seemed real.
They all looked at each other in surprise and Harper and Spencer let go of my leg harshly.
I scrambled to my feet and stood up to dust my clothes.
"What is this Caine? I thought you said you were not going to interfere in our fun time, what's this sudden change?" Spencer said, visibly annoyed as he walked towards Caine.
“Go home you all, i don’t have time for this today” Caine said and it sounded like a low warning.
"Come on man, what's this?" Spencer said and stretched his hand for a hand shake as soon as he got to where Caine stood smoking.
"Since when did you decide to become a pussy to that ugly..." Spencer did not finish talking before Caine's fist connected with his jaw sending him to the floor.
We all gasped, including me as I stared at the sight in front of me.
"Go home. Make me repeat myself again and see what happens" Caine threw away his cigarette butt and crushed it with his leg.
“Let's go" Tatiana helped Spencer up but he pushed her away and stalked off angrily and the rest of the group followed him.
It was now remaining i and Caine.
“That includes you. You blue eyed little human”
Those were the first words Caine Creek had ever said to me.
"Thank you" I said to him and winced as the cold air stung my open wounds.
"When are you going to stop saying thank you and actually fight for yourself?" He asked me and I saw his jaw move angrily.
"I... I Uh.." I stuttered
"You should not be here" Caine said and my heart dropped into my stomach.
"What?"
"You're not a wolf, you are not even human? What the fuck are you? And then the moon goddess decides to make you my..."
His what?
"She decides to put you in my pack, I'm so ashamed that you belong to us. My father made a mistake accepting the Union between your parents" Caine said and my heart broke finally.
"Don't say that" my tears started to flow again, my voice was barely a whisper now.
"And now look at you, small, red hair, blue eyes, weak, we're not even sure you can change. And worse of all you're..."
"Ugly?" I finished off for him.
"I never called you ugly" Caine exhaled and stuck his hands in his pocket.
I only scoffed and wiped my tears.
“You’re no different from them” I said finally before turning and walking away.
That day my feelings for him died.
I hated Caine Creek.
Few blocks from my house, I cleaned my tears and tried to hide the red angry bruises on my arms. When I got home, the door was unlocked as usual but some of the things were missing in the living room, like the Tv and the tables."Mum?!" I called out for my mother but there was no reply."Mum?!"I walked up the stairs to her room to look for her and get an explanation to what was going on in our house. And my father was no where to be found. Not that it mattered because he was rarely at home but it's been two months since I last saw him.As the Beta of the pack , he was always busy but at night when I saw other fathers get home, I always wondered why mine never came back or even bothered calling. When I got into my mother's room, the sight was worse than what I had met in the living room. All her things were packed and her stuffs were labeled in different boxes on the floor."Mum, why is the... What's going on? Why are you packing? Are you giving your things out?" My questions came in
“Hello Mrs Elena, is Lucy home?” I asked Lucy's Aunty who I had met gardening right outside their house.I had come to tell my best friend that I was leaving.Ever since that incident in school, Lucy had refused to talk to me and I was not surprised when she did not come to look for me even when I had not showed up to school in days.So here I was trying to mend broken fences before I left and once again I was met with her absence.“No honey, she went out with that naughty boy again. After messing my sheets up, they leave my house in a mess. Once that stubborn girl comes home she’ll clean this house spotless like a maid. She just gets me mad all the time” Elena said furiously, digging away at the soil. The naughty boy in question: Caine Creek. But I could care less about him now, he no longer mattered to me."Do you know where she went to?" I asked her, helping her with her water can for her garden.“Thank you sweetie. Well, Lucy wouldn't tell me where they were headed but I heard the
"I'll give you a moment to clear out your locker alone. The classes are going on now, so you have enough time to get what you want and leave without any drama" The school principal, Miss Johnson, said to me after my mother told her on the phone that I was leaving school.By now I'm guessing half of the parents in the pack would've heard about the drama between my parents.I told her to plead with Miss Johnson to make my move as stealthy as possible, because I knew how much mockery I was going to get if the other students knew I was leaving."I heard about what was going on between you and the other students," she said behind me as we walked to my locker. "You lost so much weight," she added after I didn't say anything. She knew about it.The whole school knew about my bullying but no one did anything about it, they rather enjoyed it."I'm sorry I couldn't do anything about it, and I'm sorry about your parents" she said."I heard your father found his mate. Do you know her?" She asked
SIX YEARS LATERI opened the door to the house I once left and promised to never come back. But here I was standing in the middle of the empty living room and looking for the one man I swore to hate for the rest of my life.Last I heard, his mate died from a rouge attack in the pack and now my dad was mateless and wife-less.Alone, lonely and drowning himself in work as usual.Karma was a real bitch they said and I was witnessing.“Dad” I called to the man who was lying motionless in his bedroom staring at the ceiling. The house he once abandoned us, and even after we left he never called.“Jasmine, hey.” He laughed happily and stood up to hug me but his movements were slow, he had aged over the last six years.Slowly he let go of the hug but didn't let go of my hand.“How’re you?” I asked him, smiling a little and happy to see him. After my mother remarried, I figured it was time to let go of my grudges and I did.I had forgiven my dad already but I didn't know if I could ever forget
JASMINEThe silence that followed was deafening, almost scaring me out of my position. Caine stood before me, eyes seeing around like he’d just found a lost treasure. “I’m searching for Lucy. Any idea where she might be?” I asked, exchanging glances with the rest of the group. “Errands,” Caine replied. His voice sounded thicker and deeper than the last time we spoke. “Ohh…when she returns please tell her I stopped by,” I said to him and turned to leave. “Jasmine,” he called. I halted in my tracks and turned to him. He seemed to be contemplating approaching me. At first I thought he was seeking approval from the rest of the gang. Hell no. He was freaking Caine Creek. He didn’t need anyone’s approval. He gestured for them to leave, which they did. “You…just show up from nowhere after how many years?” He asked, covering the gap between us. There was no need to be scared this time. I was better than the last time we stood this close. The closer he got, the harder my heart raced. I
JASMINEThe tension between us was undeniable and I cursed myself for even acknowledging it. Caine leaned against the door frame, shirtless with his hands folded across his chest. His eyes scanned me all over again, like he was trying to figure me out all over again. “I’ll wait outside then,” I said to him and turned around to leave. “Maybe you haven’t heard but the pack is not as safe as when you left. We get surprise attacks at any time of the day. People go missing, dead bodies sprawl out of the ground almost every morning yet, no one has answers to these happenings,”“I’ll advise you to come in and wait,” he finally made his point. I won’t lie, the mention of getting attacked at any time of the day sent my heart racing. With a deep, regrettable sigh, I took another turn and made my way into the house. He locked the door and joined me shortly after putting on a shirt. The room was surprisingly clean for a guy like Caine. He wasn’t this arranged six years ago. I perched at the ed
JASMINEThe room erupted into chaos. Everyone shot up from their seats, the chairs screeching as we hurried towards Spencer. Caine led the way, getting to Spencer before the rest of us. “What happened?” He asked, helping him in. I checked outside the door to confirm there was no one else out there. It was clear. “The diner,” Spencer choked on his blood. “He needs to be attended to. Clear the table,” I assisted Caine to carry him. The rest stood, looking at me to confirm if I was actually dishing out orders to them. “You heard her!” Caine barked as we hurried across the room carrying Spencer. Imani and Jojo cleared the table, giving me the opportunity to get down to a work I had learnt on my own and practiced with Bryan. “Take his clothes off,” I told Jojo before rushing to get a bowl of water. After my mother moved in with her new family, her whole attention focused on them, I found ways to defend myself. I learnt how to stand up for myself, defend myself and treat my wounds. I
JASMINEMy eyes fluttered open, leaving me with a blurred vision a few seconds. My ears picked the sound of indistinct chattering coming from somewhere around the dark room. I’ve barely been back here and they won’t let me breathe properly. As my vision cleared, so did my hearing. It wasn’t just chattering. They were moans. Loud and clear. The girl…sounded so much like Imani. But I recalled the tone of the voice that knocked me into unconsciousness. It was masculine. “Right there Jerry,” the Imani moaned, loud kisses following after. Why did she sound like he was torturing her. To mage it worst, they were in plain sight, having sex infront of me. Couldn’t they hold themselves until they got somewhere closed? And what wasn’t I understanding? Imani is supposed to be with Jojo. Or did something change in their cycle of relationships? She went down on her knees, taking in his cock which just slipped out of her vagina. I swallowed, feeling every nerve in my body twisting against the sigh
JASMINES POVThe sound of Lucy’s car pulling up at the curb was a type of relief I hadn’t felt in some time. Brendon and I crept out of our hiding, racing to the black sedan that came to a halt. The door flung open, revealing Lucy who was sitting in the driver's seat. “Get in!” She hissed. I dragged Brendon along as we darted into the car. She didn’t wait a second for us, hitting the accelerator as the car sped off. The force closed the door, trapping us in. The car was silent for a few minutes, Lucy and I stealing gazes at each other from her mirror. She made a turn at a familiar road and hit the break.“Where have you been?” Her voice thundered with a mix of concern and anger. “I…” I opened my mouth to explain, but my words went missing, letting out only a sigh. “Where the hell have you been, Jasmine? Everyone in the pack was worried. Alpha Morgan couldn’t leave again because you went missing…”“I didn’t go missing,” I chirped in, lifting my face from where it was buried in dis
JASMINES POVThe wolves snarled, their teeth bared and glowing under the morning light. I scrambled to my feet, pulling Brendon to my side. He was strongly rooted to the ground, his eyes fixed on both beasts like he was analyzing them. “Brendon, it’s them. We must leave now!” I urged, pulling his arm.“Wait,” he whispered, his knees taking a slow bend as he assumed a defensive stance. His claws snapped out, and he started moving closer. The wolves that were once charged with ferocity started moving backward.I stood behind him, trying to understand what was happening. Were they scared of him? Or was there something he was doing to them that I couldn’t see?“Brendon, what’s going on?” I whispered.“Stay close,” he returned, keeping up with his pace. I tugged behind him, holding the dagger in my left hand, with the right grabbing his shirt. “What’s going on?” I asked, watching as the positions reversed. The first wolf turned immediately and ran into the woods, while the second took it
JASMINES POV “You can’t? Why?” Curiosity grew in me after he gave his unexpected answer. He shook his head, adjusting on the log of wood where he was resting. “You just bumped into me, how sure are you that…” “I can trust you?” I interrupted him. I sighed, moving away from where I was sitting and taking up a space beside him. “I never said I trust you, Brendon. All I said was…you saved me, and might as well help me save my friend. Instead of staying in the middle of nowhere, you could meet new people,” I corrected him. That still didn’t give him the satisfaction I’d expected. His eyes still bore some kind of doubt that lingered as I stared into them. He shook his head, turning away from me. “What if I don’t want to leave?” I didn’t respond to him immediately. I let his decision sink and settle at the base of my head before I shrugged. “Fine then, I’m used to surviving on my own. I’ll go alone,” I said, not waiting to hear what he had to say before I returned to his tent.

JASMINES POVMy blood ran cold at the sound of her voice. I felt cold beads of sweat trickling down my neck, sending chills across my body. My wolf stirred in me, sensing the impending danger. I backed away from the window, careful not to make a sound as I retraced my steps. “What do we do, we can’t fight them,” I heard my wolf in my head. “What else is there to be done?” I mumbled as my eyes followed the movements in the room. Daria was still dishing out information to Natalia and the other Seeker wolves, and from my view, it looked like Natalia was arguing with her. “Run,” my wolf jolted the fear out of my mind. I turned around, sprinting down the track. My heart pounded like a drum, each beat matching the sound of my boots matching the stony floor. “Faster,” my roof urged. I glanced behind me and found them trooping out of the room. They whispered into the ears of some other wolves who were walking by, and they pointed in my direction. My legs pushed against my will, propel
JASMINES POV“Stealing faces?” My ears still couldn’t believe what they just heard. I sat silently, trying to process and imagine what Natalia said, but none of it still made any sense to me. I turned to her, hesitating on the question I wanted to ask. “Stealing faces?” I asked again. She extended her palm, and I glanced at it with doubt, then at her face. “I’ll show you,” she said. With a heavy breath, I placed my palm in hers and shut my eyes. Her grip tightened, and soon I found myself in a familiar place. The sea we were sitting across. But it was littered with the corpse of wolves, floating on the surface of the water. The flesh on their faces was skinned off, exposing their tissues to the sun. The vultures in the air cawed as they hovered around them. Their flight seemed more aligned when I looked up, and I discovered they were heading towards me, flapping their wings and propelling themselves faster. That was when I saw him.Eric, again. “What are you doing here?”“Jas
JASMINES POVPain surged through my body as Rachel’s energy collided with mine, prying open the deepest part of my mind. I felt like nothing I’d ever felt before—as though she was ripping apart the barriers I didn’t even know existed. I screamed, pulling against Harland’s grip the moment I got myself, but his hold was unyielding. “Stop resisting, you’ll only hurt yourself the more,” Rachel hissed through gritted teeth. But the pain was too much to take in, and my wolf fought against it. She clawed her way through her space, fighting off Rachel’s wolf. “She’s difficult,” Rachel said, not giving up. “Go harder,” I heard Daria snap. “It might kill her if she doesn’t stop fighting it,” “Do it!” Daria pushed. I felt her hand tighten on my head, her energy creating some kind of new path through my body and mind. It circled the rest of my body that I had in control, snatching that hold from me. My body went still like I was dipped in ice, and I felt Rachel inside my head. She tore th
JASMINE’S POVNatalia’s words hung in the air like a sharp sword waiting to be dropped. Why did they sound so familiar? My thoughts reeled back to the missing book Alpha Morgan has asked us to find. He never said the actual name, but with the way he asked about it, and wanted us to find it, it just had to be it. The bone marrows. The most evident part of the missing puzzle lies before my eyes. Lucy’s parents. The thoughts were still patching up in my head, and I found it difficult to concentrate on what was going on before me. “Did you hear what I just said?” Natalia snapped me out of my thoughts. “Yea…yes…you were urm…” I stuttered, my words hanging in my throat after I couldn’t get a hint of what she just said. She inched closer to me, placing a hand on my shoulder and pulling me in. “You look troubled,” “I’m fine,”“We’re werewolves, Jasmine. I can tell when you’re lying,” she reminded me. I sighed, trying to take everything in. All she revealed to me had me not just ques
JASMINES POV The cold atmosphere seemed deeper into my skin as Natalia and I made our way out of the room. She went towards the direction where the distance drilling of water was coming from, and I tugged behind, ensuring not to miss a thing. “A vampire?” I repeated, breaking the silence that stretched amidst us. “Why?” “He’s hybrid…not entirely a vampire. But he was once a vampire,” she answered. Her first two statements returned my thoughts to Adrian. But the last countered it because Adrian was a werewolf before turning into what he was. “I believe you’ve come in counter with one,” she stopped and turned to me. Her eyes narrowed into mine, and I felt the truth that lay at the bottom of my chest erupt from my mouth like I had no control over myself. “Yes,” I blurted. A smile played at the edge of her lips, then she turned and continued. “We think there’s something wrong, or someone is doing something which he or she shouldn’t be,” Heavy racing footsteps made us halt, an
