Rowland Martinez

I would discern his voice even if I turned deaf! Jordan Reign.

I frowned deeply and asked, "What do you want?"

"Giving you what you want." He responded.

"Why did you lie about me passing out at the piano?" I inquired, making myself seem relaxed.

"You did pass out, did you not?" He asked sarcastically.

I became speechless. What a jerk!

I did not say anything and impatiently waited for him to say something. There was a wave of silence.

"Are you always this impatient?" His voice echoed in my ears.

"What are you saying?" I frowned.

"Do you even know anything about your abilities?"

"Want to teach me?" I raised my brows.

"No thank you." He retorted and I nearly scowled.

"Can I enjoy my milkshake in peace? Please." I was trying to dismiss him.

"Dismissing? Anyway, we have another round to go. Stop with the weakling act." He asserted but I was surprisingly not so moved about his word. I took a little sip from the milkshake even though I could see what I was drinking.

"Are you always this talkative?" I wanted to tease him.

All of a sudden, I felt something grab the milkshake cup out of my hand. It was so swift and smooth and I sprang up to my feet immediately.

 "Give that back!" I commanded.

"Blood is what you should feed on, not this." He replied and my jaw dropped. I was very stunned at the reply. Blood?

 "What do you mean?"

"Jokes on you." He responded so quick again.

There was a quick silence then I broke it when something dropped in my mind.

"How did you meet Karima?" I asked straightforwardly, hoping he would drop something unknowingly.

"Who's that?" He replied with that question and I zeroed everything I was thinking in my mind. Okay...I started to think there was really nothing between her and him.

"10 AM tomorrow, be in my suite." He ordered and within a split second, the lights were on again. He had left, leaving my milkshake on the center table.

I sat down on the couch, bombarded with thoughts that were not even adding up.

Who was he to even order me first? It really seemed like he was challenging me. A few minutes later, the doorbell rang and I went to get whoever was there. Karima had gone to work so who could it be at my door?

I checked, only to see Rowland standing there.

"What is he doing here?" I muttered to myself as I opened the door.

"Hi, Mira." He greeted me with a very broad smile.

"Hello, I am... surprised to see you, Rowland. How did you know I'm staying here?" I asked before even letting him in.

He only chuckled. "I stay in this complex too, Mira." He replied calmly and walked in. I was quite baffled.

 "You stay here too?"

I thought it was just me and Karima, but I guessed not.

"Most Greenville Resort workers stay in this apartment complex, just different wings." He responded and I wowed. He came in with some brown food paper bags actually.

"It is my day off so I decided to come say hi to you. I brought some food too." He continued.

"Oh, thank you for that. I am sorry I had no idea you were staying here too."

He waved it off. "It's alright. Your place is very nice."

"Thank you." I responded as I sat down.

"And how do you feel now? I heard what happened with Harrison Louis and Mr. Reign." He started.

"Ugh...I feel quite.. alright now." I was not so sure of what to say.

"I thought...you injured your head, Mira. I don't see any gauze." He pointed out and really put me on the spot.

"The thing is...I... Mr. Harrison actually did hit the bottle on my head but...I am fine, I did not get injured." I lied.

"How?" He retorted, not giving me a breathing space.

"Just because...my head is strong?" I tried to make a joke there and I really prayed he would fall for it so I could avoid all the questions.

He laughed. "Oh please, Mira. Had breakfast?"

"Hm...not yet." I replied to him, because I was actually hungry at the time.

He unloaded the paper bags he came with and brought out the foods he brought. My appetite heightened and the smell of the spicy chicken in a box.

We dug into eating as we discussed random things about ourselves and Greenville.

"So Rowland, how did you get to start working as a lobby agent at Greenville?"

He obviously did not see that coming as he paused eating to think.

"Hm... Greenville stood out for me. I have always wanted to be a lobby agent at Greenville and trust me, getting into their list of recruits was not so easy." He explained and I meditated for a while on what he said.

That even brought me to think about Travis. I had not seen him since the day I met him there at the clubhouse. He got me into Greenville at once while others struggled to get there.

"Okay...what about your background...family?"

"I don't have parents. They are dead." He slammed and I regretted asking the question. He did not seem to hung up on that by the way.

"What about you, Mira?" He asked, picking up a drumstick.

'Oh, I have parents but I got myself disowned.' I replied in my mind and just smiled at him, unsure of what to say.

"Don't wanna talk about it? It's fine, then." He concluded.

"What's your last name, Rowland?"

"Martinez. I am Rowland Martinez." He replied and I swear, I had heard that name from somewhere but I could not remember where.

"I think we are done here." He announced when we were done eating.

"Ah, I will get you some water." I offered and he declined immediately. "I will get it myself, thank you." He smiled and got up then headed to the kitchen that was a few steps away.

When he was away, I brought out my phone to search his name online. The moment I did that, everything about 'Rowland Martinez came up. He was the first on the page, with his picture boldly attached to an article.

Rowland Martinez was a multi billionaire across the country. I was very shocked. The same person who was a lobby agent at Greenville? I felt bad that he lied about me at first but I tried to view it all from a different point.

'He probably has his reasons for lying.'
