It was another day to face a crazy VVIP guest and a disguised multi billionaire. Karima did not stop me from going to work this time around and she was even yet to ask about my head injury.
As soon as I was done dressing up I headed out of the apartment complex. Karima had said she would join me downstairs soon and that was the very first time i would be done preparing for work before her.
As I waited in the parking lot, I saw Rowland also coming into the lot. He did not see me and I refused to call him, because I wanted to cross-check something.
Bro legit unlocked the doors of a blue sports car and boarded it. He was indeed rich!I hid so he would not see me as he drove out, then I could not stop contemplating in my heart what exactly the reason why he would not what to disclose his true identity to me.
Soon, Karima got out and we started heading to work. On our way, I decided to just throw the question instead of just stuffing my mind with thoughts.
"Karima." I reached out. "Hm?" "Why...are you not asking about my injury?" I asked her. "What injury, Mira?" She raised her brows, not failing to show her expression even despite being focused on the wheel.'Did she really not know...or??' I pondered.
"I was just teasing." I had to lie again, even though the lie was not so palatable. "Why would you tease me with something like, Mira?" She inquired on a lighter mode and I just smiled. She was now giving me so many reasons to look into her existence and I would do just that!We got to work and I was assigned to work on some paperwork while I waited for 10 to clock. I was already preparing my mind for whatever I would be doing and saying once I got to see Jordan Reign.
It seemed like he was still bent on completing the combat session we had two days ago. I grabbed my phone and just looked up ancient swords online. Practically everything about my world was on the social media, even categorized as fantasy. It was a shame but now it was advantageous to me as I had not so many foreknowledge about my world. I knew the basics though, and a few core knowledge about the werewolf kingdom.
I scrolled down for the sword images, looking for the one I had wielded through my energy in that forest. I spent so many minutes just scrolling and then I finally found it!
Yes, it was there. I did not get to see the sword's qualities properly when I saw it then because of the situation. The sword had a shiny, mirror-like blade covered in glowing symbols that seem to move on their own. The hilt was wrapped in smooth, shimmery threads, and the guard had magical runes that light up when near other magic. At the end of the hilt was a colorful gemstone that pulses with a strange energy, making the whole sword feel alive with power.
I was about to look into the meaning of the spell and the history behind it when I got a call through the intercom.I had not gotten a call through there before but I picked it up. "Hello." I tried to speak as meeky as possible.
"Is it not 10 yet in your world?" My heart skipped a beat when I heard his voice.I glanced at the clock and saw that it was a minute past 10 AM. What the heck?! Just one minute lateness?
And he was already calling me? I almost swore at him but I did a good job holding myself back. "I will be there in a jiffy." I replied through clenched teeth and I almost did not complete my statement when he hung up.Even rude?! Heavens knew how I held myself from flaring up that moment. I got up from my desk and headed up to his suite. It took me about ten minutes before I got there.
He had to come open the door because I did not come with the master card out of hurry.
"Are you dumb? Why did you not come here with your master card?" He asked as soon as he opened the door and walked back in, not sparing me a glance. 'Guests are always right.' I muttered that to myself from the manual, session 3 line 6. If I would be replying, I would turn to a savage and for some reason, I still wanted to keep my new job."I am sorry, sir. I was trying to make it on time." I responded as I trailed behind him.
"That is not an excuse." He replied sharply and I sneered quietly. "I can see you." He said. He had not even turned back. I halted in my steps, surprised. "How?""You don't see eyes at the back of my head?" He inquired and that really got me.
"I...don't see anything. Are you..teasing me?" "Tease you? Who are you?" He replied sassily and I sneered again."Continue doing that and I will take you back to that forest." He threatened and is scrunched my brows.
"Are you threatening me right now?" "If you find that to be a threat, don't ever frown again whenever I call you a weakling." He responded."But really, I thought you hardly talked to people." I pointed that out because I was still surprised. Or did the higher-ups get that wrong about him?
"You are not one of them." He said.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Find that out yourself.." he declared and the conversation was concluded when we got to the first living room.
He sat down while I remained standing. I could not even tell who was more nice between him and Harrison Louis. At least, the old man offered me a seat. What he said earlier resounded in my ears. 'Continue doing that and I will take you back to the forest.'
What did he mean by that? "Wait, we are not using the forest this time?" I asked, raising my brows. "What for?" "The fight." "With who?" He seemed so calm but his words and tone were sharp and firm. "Are you kidding me right now?" I frowned deeply. "You? You don't stand a chance. I was in a bad mood the other day." He responded. "Oh...and I wonder what kind of bad mood would make a man challenge a lady to a fight." I said sarcastically."You don't need to know." He replied and I sneered again at him. "I don't want to know. I am not interested."
"Why did you call me here?" I asked, folding my arms against my chest with a contemptuous look on.
"Just... remain standing there." He said and I crinkled my face. "Are you serious right now?" "Probably you are ready to lose your job?" He chipped that in and it had me keep quiet. But all of a sudden, I started talking again."You cannot sack me, regardless of what power you hold "
"Really? Can't I?" "Would you say why you had me come here or do you want to continue to gloat about how much influence you have?""You are rude." He let out.
"So are you, sir." I emphasized the 'sir', giving him a dose of his own medicine.
"I will teach you." He suddenly said. "Teach me what? The piano? I know so much already, please." I shut him out."You wanted to know about your energies and powers, did you not? Mira Silver."
I was held back, what did he mean by teaching me about my energy and powers? How did he even know about it? "What do you mean by that and...how did you get to know that I want?" I raised my brows, feeling intense within me. He seemed to know too much about me and I could not understand."Is that necessary? Are you interested or not?" He pressed and I took a while to take some thoughts. He was trying to use my desires against me, no offence but I could not dive into something I knew nothing about."What are you even driving first? You suddenly want to teach me about myself when I barely know, I don't even know who you are!" I pointed out firmly. "Does that matter?""It does." I stated firmly and then there was a brief silence. "Okay, let's say I agreed to be 'taught' by you, how would I pay you back? You are wealthy enough so you definitely want something from me.""I don't need your money, you don't even have it. When the time comes, I will let you know." He responded and I frowned.
I headed up to Jordan's suite to see him. The guys at the door were not going to let me in and I had it out with them for a while."But, I really need to see him." I said to the guys blocking the entrance and there was no response from them even, as if they could not hear me speak. As I remained there and trying to get my way in, Kai Wren, that jerk's assistant walked towards the suite. Who knew if he was just like his boss too?"What is going on here?" He asked calmly and one of them cut me off so he could converse with him.He explained the whole thing to me and Kai turned towards me, looking at me in a funny and suspicious manner. While I was wondering why he was doing that, he finally spoke. "Mr. Reign has gotten signed out of here." He said and my jaw dropped. "What do you mean by that? He is leaving today?" I asked to confirm and he just nodded."No, that's impossible. We still talked this morning, and...why are you even here if he is leaving?""I came to get something we left.
I could not get any proper sleep throughout the night, I just kept waking up at irregular intervals due to the excitement, anxiety and anticipation that came with the planned meeting with Jordan Reign, on a matter that greatly concerned my life.It was barely dawn when I started to prepare for the meeting. I had myself all dressed up casually and then had a little breakfast, then I headed down to the ground floor. I did not have a car so I had to board a cab from some of the allowances I had gotten."Please take me to Forever Penthouse." I said to the driver as soon as I got in and then he drove me down there in about forty five good minutes. As soon as I alighted from the car, a short sigh was let out as I stared at the skyscraper. What a tall building! And to think that I would still head up to the very last floor...or some floors before that.I walked into the building and headed to the receptionists' desk where I was attended to. They seemed to know about my coming and also handed
I guess there was a lot I did not even know about myself. I had missed my path a very long time ago, the moment I decided to run from my Father's pack just so I could get married to Adrien. And now was the time for them all to start unveiling. I had wasted a lot of time, obviously and just to redeem the wasted years, I would have to work very harder and I was not even sure I was ready for all that. But here was someone who was trying to bring out the very me from me, I did not know who he was, where he was from truly and why he was doing this for me but somewhere within me, I wanted to entrust him with myself."A mission? Hold on mister, what are you even saying? Huh? My revenge plan, returning to my family, how did you know?!" I challenged him straight up but he did not seem interested in saying anything further concerning that."I won't ask you to trust my lead. If you don't want to continue, you can always retreat and go back to your comfort zone then wallow in tears and shameful t
I had never been so stunned. I pulled away immediately but the truth was, that short session of closeness, I enjoyed it but I was not supposed to. "What do you think you are doing?" I was deeply frowned, restraining myself from hitting him."Your lips just looked...""Stop! Just...stop it!" I cut him off. His personality had suddenly changed there and I was even confused on whether this was the same person that said harsh words to me earlier. What had gotten into him?In a split second, he was back to the person I knew. The cold, straight person. "I thought you wanted to leave earlier? Why did you follow the flies?" He inquired and still frowning, I placed my hands on my waist, standing akimbo."I never knew they were bringing me to you. Why would I suddenly want to return to you after all the bashing?""I bashed you?" He raised a brow dramatically and I glared at him. "Then what was that earlier?" "It is the truth, young lady, is it not?" He sent me mute for a while there, then I
The hill I refused to climb earlier? I later climbed it up, but Jordan took me on a different route, one that was even more difficult. "Why are you so evil?" I confronted him, feeling pissed and pained that he really was going to put me through all this stress."You will never get to handle your real self if you are not well broken. Your will first, and that is what we are doing now. Refuse to do it now but I promise you, you will eventually come back for it and by then, you will be going up and back seven good times."I took that as a threat and decided to get on with it once and for all. Climbing took hours and I was almost close to thinking that we were on Mount Everest. Eventually, I got so worn out that I could not keep going any longer. I had the will to but my body was declining.Out of his mercies like he had said, Jordan had me rest for a few minutes and got me back on my feet again. We walked up all the way and nobody announced it to me when we got to the very top.I was al
I could no longer stop the tears from coming out. They streamed down my face as I sat on the floor, in that bush just wailing as I stared at Jordan from a distance. "You cruel asshole." I swore amidst tears and then he started walking closer."You should have stayed there!" He asserted, insisting and I got quite pissed. "Why would I stay there? For what reason? After you left me there to probably...get eaten by beast?" I ran my mouth angrily."What are you even saying? Does it make sense to you that I will leave you up there and do what? Go somewhere far away?" He looked quite amazed at my actions. "Either far or not, it does not change the fact that you left me there literally, to survive all by myself.""Get up." He commanded and my stubbornness set in. Why did he want me to stand up? After the ordeal I just went through? I was not even sure I could stand properly on my two feet at this period in time."Get up, Mira!" He commanded and indeed, he seemed so serious. Slowly, I manag
My confusion just grew by the day. What was Eldrid forest? Whose forest was it? Why was Jordan so surprised like that too? What was with the expression of fear?"I will handle it, take her home." Jordan ordered in another split second and it seemed as if he was getting prepared for a battle, judging from his tone. Kai bowed his head as Jordan stepped out, with me wondering where he was headed to.Kai led me to the basement parking lot and he drove me out in an expensive looking car. As he drove with a straight face, I felt pushed to just ask him questions. "Excuse me." I started with, drawing his attention from the wheel, not totally though."Yes?" "What is...this Eldrid forest and what does it mean to Mr. Jordan?" I asked innocently, feeling so clueless. It looked like he was hesitant to reply to me but he eventually did, giving me a solid no. "I am sorry but I can't tell you anything about that, ma'am." He replied and my jaw dropped, leaving an "oh.."None of us said a word to e
