You're Not My Boss

I was held back, what did he mean by teaching me about my energy and powers? How did he even know about it?

"What do you mean by that and...how did you get to know that I want?" I raised my brows, feeling intense within me. He seemed to know too much about me and I could not understand.

"Is that necessary? Are you interested or not?" He pressed and I took a while to take some thoughts. He was trying to use my desires against me, no offence but I could not dive into something I knew nothing about.

"What are you even driving first? You suddenly want to teach me about myself when I barely know, I don't even know who you are!" I pointed out firmly.

"Does that matter?"

"It does." I stated firmly and then there was a brief silence. "Okay, let's say I agreed to be 'taught' by you, how would I pay you back? You are wealthy enough so you definitely want something from me."

"I don't need your money, you don't even have it. When the time comes, I will let you know." He responded and I frowned.

"I can't go into a contract when I don't know the part I will be playing" I objected.

"Are you scared?" He asked.

"Of course! What if you tell me to bring my head eventually?"

"Stop being ridiculous, young lady." He dismissed.

"Are you in or not?"

"I don't even have time to think about it?"

"You do, but it's limited.  Non aspettare che arrivi il peggio per prepararti."

He had just spoke in Italian again. 'Don't wait for the worst to come before you prepare.'

That was it. The more time I spent around him, the more I was thrown into confusion.

He did not ask me to play for him that day and just dismissed me after that conversation we had. I got back to the office and remained on my seat for a while, wondering what all that was about.

To think that I was dying to know some things about the new development in my life and the fact that he knew about all these things without even telling me. Jordan was definitely a supernatural one but he knew just too much. Ah.

What to do now?

"Up for lunch, Mira?" I suddenly heard someone ask and I looked up. There came my billionaire teammate.

"Rowland, I thought you were attending to someone." I pointed out, looking for ways to turn him down.

"The guest wants to get to work so I have been excused till further notice. It is lunch break already and everyone has already left for the restaurant, why are you still here?"

I looked around and realized we were the only ones in the office, I narrowed my gaze down to Karima's office. Even though the walls were not transparent, there was a way to know if she was in or not. She was still in.

She had not called me that day and I guessed she was very busy.

"Mira...lunch." Rowland called for my attention again.

"Oh, yeah..sure." I had no choice but to follow him down to the first floor to have lunch.

He was trying to hold a conversation but my mind was way far from it. Reality was gradually dawning on me and I could not forget my plan while mingling with humans.

"Mira, is there anything bothering you?" He jolted me out of my thoughts for the umpteenth time.

"Ugh...I am just caught up with some things, Rowland. I am sorry."

"It's fine."

 "What were you talking about?"

"I was asking if you would like to go out for dinner sometime, probably today or tomorrow?"

I had a second thinking, dinner with a multi billionaire? Oh yeah, yeah. I knew there was something about him, he seemed to like me yeah and I felt that was his way of spelling it out to me.

Was I interested? No. But his money, maybe yes. That was on a lighter mode though but Rowland was such a very good person. Love? Ah, yes. The last one I tried is what brought me here.

"Dinner... hm, I am not sure if I will be available anytime soon but I will consider it, okay?"I assured, not wanting to just shun him out totally.

Lunch ended and then we returned to the office.

Right before we got there, I made my mind about the conversation I had with Jordan Reign earlier that morning.

I got up from my chair to go to his suite so I could give him a response, then one of my female senior colleagues walked in.

"Mira." She reached out and I turned around to face her. "Yes?"

"You are coming with me to attend Sam Pascal, our French VIP guest." She informed me and I sighed.

"Ugh..I am sorry Clara but I need to attend to a VIP guest right now, it's very urgent."

"Did you not hear me? Are you deaf? I just said you are coming with me to work!" She asserted and I furrowed my brows. I was being ordered right now and she was not even my boss.

"Excuse me, Miss Clara. I am trying to make it clear to you that I have something else to do, politely." I pointed out and she glared at me.

I was not even ready to start anything funny with her. I wanted peace.

"It does not matter. You are just a newbie here so you do whatever I tell you to do."

"And who do you think you are to order her around?" Another worker who was the same set as her countered from her desk.

"Stay out of it, you bitch!" Clara shunned.

"No fowl languages guys." Someone else cautioned.

"Why are you all standing up for her? And painting me as if I did anything bad? I just told her to join me at work."

"Well, I am sorry I won't be doing that because you are not my boss!" I chipped in and walked out of the office, with so many eyes on me.
