A Price To Pay

I could no longer stop the tears from coming out. They streamed down my face as I sat on the floor, in that bush just wailing as I stared at Jordan from a distance. "You cruel asshole." I swore amidst tears and then he started walking closer.

"You should have stayed there!" He asserted, insisting and I got quite pissed.

"Why would I stay there? For what reason? After you left me there to probably...get eaten by beast?" I ran my mouth angrily.

"What are you even saying? Does it make sense to you that I will leave you up there and do what? Go somewhere far away?" He looked quite amazed at my actions.

"Either far or not, it does not change the fact that you left me there literally, to survive all by myself."

"Get up." He commanded and my stubbornness set in. Why did he want me to stand up? After the ordeal I just went through? I was not even sure I could stand properly on my two feet at this period in time.

"Get up, Mira!" He commanded and indeed, he seemed so serious. Slowly, I managed to stand up from where I was, with my eyes on him. He was so mysterious, very mysterious.

"Firstly note this, there is a certain height you attain, where nobody, nobody! Can drag you down. You know what to do? Maintain your motion, remain at that very top and nothing would dare to cross your way." There was a brief pause.

"No matter how cunning or beasty they are, no creature can mount that hill, none can reach there." He explained and I finally understood where he was going. I should have just stayed....

As we found our way back, I engaged him randomly. "That thing...that creature, what was it?" I asked.

"It's not an animal but it can be very deadly. It tends to make a blasting sound that could deafen anybody. I heard that and came around."

"I heard a human's voice too." I pointed it out, wanting much light in explanations of things.

He just smirked gently.

"The creature made that sound too, to draw your attention. Apart from the animals I dominate here, others should not exist, so anytime you come across any thing that isn't looking like a normal animal, take to your heels, like you did today."

"It's not even funny!" I retorted, glaring dreadfully at him.

"I never said it was." That was a quick defence there. Several hours had passed and I guessed it was time to go home, as we traveled through and landed back in Forever Penthouse.

"Yes, this is what I am used to." I muttered almost inaudibly to myself as I sat down in a sofa and relaxed without giving a care in the world.

I felt a cup of milkshake would do also, because I was madly hungry and crazily fatigued.

At some point, I got hung up in the penthouse with the food aroma coming from the kitchen. Kai Wren also walked into the penthouse and only nodded at me, while he went to where his boss was to care for him.

I could see them clearly from where I was and saw Kai bring out an handkerchief then wiped Jordan's forehead. Subconsciously and amusingly, I sneered and even though the act was not so bad, I found it weird with them.

They seemed to have this kind of bossy-friendly relationship and would not just stop talking. Their mouths kept running and I knew nothing about what they were saying, even though I wanted to know.

Kai frowned his face at him and made a statement. I really wanted to know about the discussion.

"Why did you take it upon yourself to tell her?" That was Kai questioning. I had started to hear them so clearly from where I was sitting.

"Because I wanted to." Jordan replied dismissively.

"But you know the price you have for this at all? I don't have to preach this to you, sir." The 'sir' was obviously sarcastic.

"It is my price to pay, I will do it, it's been long since I last got punished anyway, this is a good opportunity."

I had never been so lost. What was this thing with a price? Paying for something?? Plus, this was obviously about me.

Again, I stopped hearing their conversation. Jordan really needed to teach me to control my abilities, ugh! They soon stopped exchanging words and Jordan walked into the kitchen.

He came out a few minutes later, just when I was preparing to leave tomorrow morning, he called me over.

"Come have dinner. I don't want to have you pass out there." He was not even offering, he was more like ordering.

Like the hungry witch that I was, I got up from the sofa without even thinking and headed to the dining area, where he had set the table.

"I might be losing my manners tonight and I am not sorry about that." I announced so he would know before hand.

Heavens know I was really famished, from the stress I had gone through that day. Especially given that I did not eat breakfast and it was already late in the night.

Without a permission from him, I dug into the meal. Grilled steak with mashed potatoes.

Like a beast that hasn't gotten anything to eat in ages, I kept eating to the point that he had to push forward his own plate of meal to me, so I could eat.

His action was touching but I was too hungry to react to that. When I was done with his, I finally had the cause to drink a cup of water.

I felt so heavy but satisfied.

"Welcome back." I heard him say to me as he stretched forward a layer of serviette for me to wipe my lips gently.

"Thank you." I grunted as I wiped my lips. "The dish is nice, I might come around more for this." I made my intentions known already but it was meant to be on a lighter mode.

"Don't. Don't come." He frowned.

"I will." I insisted stubbornly, teasing and pulling his legs.

"I said don't--" His response was cut off by Kai.

"Lord Reign, I just got a report that the Eldrid forest is on fire." He reported and the expression on Jordan's face was one I had never seen before.

His face darkened with fury, his eyes widening in shocked outrage.
