Maya could hear the giggles of the other omegas, and she knew immediately that her fall was not by accident. They had intentionally spilled water on the ground which made her slip. She slowly rose to her feet, and they jeered. "The floor suits you better, Maya. You should keep laying down," one of the omegas taunted, as Maya stood.
She turned around in anger, and heaved. It's not worth it, Alysia said, knowing her intent.
Maya ignored her wolf, and was walking up to them when she caught sight of the Luna and Emily, she stopped in her tracks, but they had already seen her.
"Were you not about to hit her? Come on, go ahead," Emily taunted her, and Maya gritted her teeth, as tears stung her eyes. She had to tolerate all of the humiliations because they all had the backing of the Luna.
"Emily," Riley said as she curled her fingers, unable to control her detest and anger anymore.
"Yes, Luna," Emily answered.
"Drag this peasant by the hair to her room. If she dares to challenge you, run to me immediately," she said, and Maya bit her lower lip to avoid her from crying. She would not give them the satisfaction of seeing her vulnerable.Emily did as she was told with all pleasure.
She went over to Maya, and grabbing her by the hair, she pulled her roughly towards the omegas quarters. Maya beared it all, with only a little whimper escaping her lips. Emily wanted to see her cry, and when Maya proved difficult, she pulled her hair tighter, and a gasp escaped Maya's lips, and Emily smiled in satisfactory.
She pushed Maya into the room, and she stumbled back and fell. She swallowed hard. "Like the Luna said, don't come to the party. Your face disgusts all of us, and I'm sure the alphas will puke too if they see you," she said in spite, and slammed the door hard on Maya.
Maya crawled to her sleeping pad, and as soon as she laid on it, she had no idea how the tears she had been fighting within strolled down her eyes, and she began to sob.
"Mother," she began to soliloquize. "You shouldn't have left me all alone. You shouldn't have...entrusted my care into the hands of the royal family," she sobbed, as she flashed back to when her mother was on her sick bed, and the alpha had come to see her, not to check on her, but to break the bad news of her husband's death to her. He died on the battlefield.
The news had shocked Maya's mother so much that all she could mutter was, Alpha Killian to take care of her daughter, and she died after that.
Alpha Killian had perhaps felt a little bit of remorse, and brought Maya to the pack house as a help, and since Riley set her eyes on Maya, she had subjected the little girl to a life of misery.
Maya sobbed as she recalled her childhood. "What were you thinking mother? That poor omegas like us could be loved and cared for? You thought I wouldn't survive on my own, and you entrusted my well being into the hands of cruel people," she said. "Mom, no one loves me here, not even the omegas. It's like I was never part of the pack," Maya said amidst her tears.
She turned sideways, and curled her toes, as she pulled her knees to her chest. Important guests arriving, my foot. I'll stay in here where there's less trouble. Who wants to be there with them anyways, she scoffed, as she closed her eyes, and due to her intense tears, she drifted slowly into sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
By evening, the guests were already arriving. Wealthy alphas from stronger packs walked into the pack house with an air of pride.
Riley was thrilled, as she watched them walk in with a smile on her face. She was standing beside her husband, alpha Killian, and he too was glad that a few of these men in the room would be potential husbands to his three daughters.
"Alpha Logan," Alpha Killian hailed as one of the alphas drew nearer.
Alpha Logan grinned. "Alpha Killian, I hear you have the most beautiful daughters in the city," he said to him.
Alpha Killian's smile widened. "Yes, I do," he said.
"Therefore, do not waste time in bringing them forward. I can't wait to choose a bride among them," Logan said.
"Don't be in a hurry, alpha, my daughters are still getting ready, and besides the night is still young," Killian said, and the Logan nodded in agreement, as they conversed with the rest of the alphas.
A few of the omegas were already walking around with cocktails and whiskey to offer to the alphas.
~~~~~~~
"Isn't it time to see the beautiful ladies?" Logan asked, running out of patience.
"Of course it is," alpha Killian said, and turned to Riley. "Get the girls," he said, and she nodded and walked towards the stairs.
"Shall we have a toast while we wait?" Killian asked, and they nodded, and raised their glasses. "To the union between..." He began to speak, but stopped when he noticed the figure walking into the pack house. The rest of the alphas noticed too as they turned in the direction Killian was looking at, and fear gripped their heart when they saw who was approaching.
The guests, and the Oasis pack members gasped as he kept walking effortlessly towards them. His presence alone struck fear in the hearts of both the weak and fearless. A powerful formidable aura different from any other emitted from him, and suffocated the room.
"It's... Alpha Grey," one of the guests whispered, and she quickly covered her mouth with her hand. Just his name rolling out of her tongue could get her hanged without caution.
"Having an occasion without me?" Grey asked, as he stopped a few feet away from them, with a thin smile on his lips, and his eyes cold as ice, as he stared from Killian to Logan.
"No-no, not at all," Killian stuttered, forcing himself to smile."Then, why didn't I get an invitation?" Grey asked but it was more like a demand, and Killian forced himself not to tremble at the sound of his voice."I.. I.. thought I did," he lied. Killian had intentionally not sent an invitation to Grey. He was greatly afraid of the man, and had heard rumors about women not surviving a night with him. He could not possibly hand his daughter to such a man as Grey Stone. A man who has never smiled before.Grey scoffed. "Do you know what I do to people who lie to me?" He asked, and Killian swallowed. "I cut off their tongue," Grey said without an trace of emotion in his voice, as he motioned to an omega standing by. Killian took a step back without his knowledge. The other alphas dared not to speak while Grey was still in the room.Trembling with the tray in her hand, she walked towards him, her heart in her throat. Everyone knew about him, a fearsome alpha, and the only alpha in the
Killian didn't lie when he said the girl before him was prettier than his daughters, but that wasn't why Grey accepted to take her. He was taking her because she was his mate, and that, no one knew, not even her.Grey made Maya stand properly as he turned to Killian. "It is settled then," Killian said with a nervous smile. He was glad that he his conniving tricks had worked.Grey turned sideways. "Ready the car, we're leaving," he said to the three gammas that came with him, and they immediately went to do his bidding. Maya could hardly believe her ears. She was going to leave the Oasis pack to the dark moon pack. Was that not like jumping from frying pan to fire?She turned pleading eyes to Killian. "Please alpha, don't do this to me," she pleaded softly. Killian ignored her and turned to Grey. "You can take her away," he said, and Maya's heart ached. Why was fate being cruel to her? What wrong has she committed to be a living soul? She wondered in confusion and hurt."You don't tel
Maya groggily opened her eyes, and her eyes were still dazed as she slowly looked around. She placed her hand on her head and let out an audible hiss. "Where am I?" She asked no one in particular, as her eyes began to adjust to the unfamiliar dimly lit room."My room." Grey's voice came from the opposite direction, and she turned sharply to him. Her twin pool brown velvet eyes dilated as horror washed all over her. She had thought everything about Grey taking her away was a nightmare, she had just woke up from.Grey's cold icy blue eyes met hers. His lips was pursed in a thin line, as he stared at her. "Why did you faint?" He asked her."Is there ever a reason why someone would faint?" She asked with a frown on her face, as she looked away from him, and when her eyes met his again, she wished the ground would just open and swallow her whole. The look on Grey's face at her sarcastic reply was not pleasant. If looks could kill, she could have been dead. She swallowed hard and looked dow
Maya's eyes fluttered, as the sun rays filtered through the window, and rested on her face. She stifled a yawn, as she stretched lazily. For the first time in years, she had a somewhat peaceful night rest. The bed had been so soft that she could barely keep her eyes open. Occasionally, she was bothered by the fact that she was in Grey's room, and he could walk in at any moment, and either drag her out, or force her to stay in the bed with him.That would be nice, her wolf, Alysia said in a cocky way.Shut up, you should be thinking of ways to escape this place, and not dirty thoughts, Maya said, scolding her.She looked at the other side of the bed, and realized that Grey had not showed up in the room since last night. She had just being worried without a reason. Did I inconvenience him? She thought aloud.She got up from the bed, and since she got into Grey's room, she was finally able to notice the details his room entails. She noticed his walls were a color of dark grey, and the lo
Grey stared at her unable to fathom why he had said that to her. He was tempted to run his fingers in her wet hair, but decided against it, as he walked towards the bed, and picked up the dress laid out for her. He walked up to her, and thrusted the dress into her hands. "Get dressed, and come down for breakfast," he said, and walked towards the door, and as he opened it, he added. "Ten minutes," he said, and walked out of the room without looking back.Maya let out the breath she had no idea she had been holding. She placed her hand on her chest, and could feel her heartbeat accelerating. How could one person make her fear so much? She wondered.Just then, the three omegas walked in again. "Luna, please let's proceed. We have to be quick. The alpha said ten minutes." Gwen said."O-okay," Maya said, too flustered to respond properly, as her mind flashed back to what just happened a minute ago."What do you want?" She asked."You," he said, with a look she had never seen before.What w
Grey raised an eyebrow as he stared from Eli to the rest of the elders. "Why?" He asked."She's an omega, alpha," Eli said.Grey tapped on his glass of wine on the table. "Your point exactly?" He asked."An omega cannot, and will never be our Luna," he said."I'm sorry, alpha, but, that's just how it has to be." John interjected.Grey raised a brow, his back still pressed in his seat. "Really?" He asked, and they nodded in agreement, including the omegas standing a few feets away.Grey folded his hands together, as his icy blue eyes were fixed on them. "Y'all know I do whatever I please," he said, and they nodded, having zero idea of where he was heading with his words. "But then, I decided to do this one thing y'all asked of me, as a sign of respect, and here you all are, telling me otherwise," he said, a blank expression on his face. Maya said nothing as she kept her eyes on her fingers, her ears wide open to understand all what was going on before her, and her heart thudding in her
Gwen noticed the change in Maya's demeanor, and she went closer to her. "Are you okay, Luna?" She asked worriedly.Maya gave a slight nod. "I'm just trying to... catch..." She began to say, feeling her eyes closing. "My breath," she said in a hush voice, before slipping down on the floor."Luna!" Gwen said, falling to her knees, as she shook Maya, trying to revive her. "Look what you've caused!" She said, shooting Cora a hard glare, and then looked at Maya with a panicked expression on her face. "Oh, my. I wonder what the alpha would do to us once he finds out we caused the Luna to faint," Gwen said, as she held Maya's hand, trying to pull her up. "Help me take her to the alpha's room," she added, but Cora scoffed, and walked away. One by one the other omegas did the same thing too.Gwen was trying her best to pick Maya up, but was failing. Soon, she got help when the salutary walked into the house in an accord to check up on Maya.He sighted Gwen struggling with Maya, and rushed to h
Maya stood by the window examining the distance between the window and the ground outside. Her eyes darted left and right to see if there was any warrior in sight, and indeed there was. Earlier this morning there was less of them, but as the blue sky had turned grey with twinkling stars, there was more than seven warriors in sight. There was no way she could successfully scale through the wall of the window without being seen. She groaned hard. Perhaps she should try running away very early tomorrow morning.She groaned hard again. "Another night in this place," she said in dismay, and heaved gravely. "It's just one night. It wouldn't be that bad." She said trying to reassure herself. She turned away from the window, and immediately her body stiffened by who she saw resting his lithe frame on the wall. Her breathing quickened, and her knees buckled, as her eyes met his."What do you mean by one night left?" He asked her with a blank expression on his face.She swallowed. She was quite
Maya was rushed over to the salutary who attended to her while the rest of the pack house were in a frenzy. ** Five days later ***Grey held Maya's hand, his eyes not leaving her face as he hoped and prayed that she would open her eyes soon. Gwen was sitting at the opposite side of the bed, with her hands clasped in prayers. She has already told Grey all about Vivian. She had been the instigator of the lie that spread out in the heavens, just to get rid of Maya.It's been five days since Maya was in coma and she feared for her life. Grey had never left Maya's side since she was brought into the salutary's cabin. He was disoriented and too worried about her to worry about himself.He prayed fervently, every now and then for her to open her eyes. He prayed to whoever he hoped would answer. The Salutary had no idea if Maya would ever wake up, but yet, Grey did not lose hope.His heart, body and soul was wrenched in pain and the pain of losing Maya and the baby, hurt him the more.All of
"I didn't tell you who I am. How did you know?" Grey asked the witch."Who doesn't know the legendary Dark emperor who has now reincarnated into an alpha? I know you too well and I know what brought you here," she said. She had white streaks in her raven hair.Grey stared at her and waited for her to continue. "You're here concerning the apocalypse and the possible solution to it," she said and Grey nodded. "The ancestors have told me of your coming already," she added."You have been told all your life that light and darkness do not go hand in hand. It is an unbalanced force of nature, but you've been told lies all along," she said and they all stared at her in amazement except from Grey who was shocked."Light and darkness go together, alpha. That's why the mystical lake was placed in the demon world to prove that even the purest streak of light can be found in darkness. The child said to be born to initiate the apocalypse, is the wrong prophecy. The child is being born to unite the
"All these, are the reasons why I was hostile to Maya. I could not tell her about it and that was why I was being subtle in our separation until maybe I get a solution to it all," Grey said."Have you found anything?" Zing asked.Grey shook his head. "I went to meet the heavenly emperor. Someone stole the ancient book about the mystical lake in the demon world. The book holds invisible writings on how to merge the three worlds together using the lake as a connection. What this person is not aware of is that, this could destroy everything," he explained further."Who is this person?" Zing asked."I do not know. The heavenly emperor is pretending not to know. He only told me that the Heavenly mirror and the staff of light are tools in causing this destruction and these two properties of heaven are missing," Grey said.Zing narrowed his eyes. "They're with Maya," he replied."Not anymore. They were taken away from her," Grey said.
As soon as she was gone and out of his sight. Grey mounted the stairs. He got into the study room and in a fierce anger, he threw away every thing laying idly on the table over to the floor.He groaned in pain and hurt as he flung the desk in disarray. With that done, he crumbled to the floor, finding it hard to breathe as short gasped of painful tears gathered in his eyes and threatened to surface.•"Maya, you don't have to go. This can be settled," Gwen said to Maya in a pleading voice, outside the pack gate.Maya shook her head. "This cannot be settled, Gwen. I believe in Grey a lot and I do love him, but, this is the last straw that I can take. I do not know what has gotten into him, but, I cannot handle it any longer," she replied in a tear filled voice."Maya," Gwen began to say pitifully so she could stay, but Maya stood her ground, declining to stay back in the pack house.Just then, Zing showed up. "What'
Vivian is taken to the salutary by Grey while Maya still stood speechless for what has just happened. She could hardly believe her eyes. Can a push cause a miscarriage? She pondered. But, if she had not done that, she would have been the one on the ground with blood flowing down her legs.Grey got to the salutary's cabin and instructed the salutary to take attend to Vivian urgently. "Grey," Vivian called him through gasps as he turned to leave.He turned to her. "The salutary will attend to you. I'll be back," he said and with that, he walked out of the cabin and headed back to the pack house.Gwen walked down the stairs and saw Maya frozen in a spot. She was puzzled. "Maya?" She called her attention and Maya turned to look at her with an horrified look on her face.Gwen was shocked by this until she noticed the small stain of blood on the floor. She became confused as she approached her friend. "What happened?" She asked her.M
"Who is this person?" Grey asked him.Heavenly emperor stared at him. "It's for you to find out," he replied."Do not give me that, emperor. You're the heavenly emperor, right? You should know about this person that's about to cause a massive destruction in our worlds," Grey said, getting angry all over again.The heavenly emperor stared at him. "The emperor is all seeing, Verne. But, some things are hidden and without the heavenly mirror, it cannot be seen," he replied.Grey stared at him and exhaled. "How do we stop this?" He asked."Firstly, we cannot pair with each other because you're a demon emperor," the heavenly emperor replied."Enough of that nonsense, emperor. If we do not pair together to save our world, we'll all perish, irrespective of who's a demon or a god," Grey said, making a point and the heavenly emperor stared at him."Fine. Just for the sake of the worlds, I'm willing to put aside our differences an
"The both of you can go to hell for all I care," Vivian scoffed and without waiting to eat breakfast on the dining table, she picked up her plate and walked away in anger.She was walking towards the stairs when Grey was coming down the stairs. He wanted to ignore her, but he saw Maya walking down the stairs from the corner of his eyes."Where are you going with your breakfast?" He asked her."Is it not Zing and Gwen? They were speaking rude to me and warning me to stay away from you. That's why I'm heading to my room to eat my breakfast," she replied with a pitiful look on her face."What impertinence," Grey ranted as he walked away from Vivian and headed over to Zing.Maya was surprised by his sudden demeanor over Zing and she walked down the stairs, heading over to the dining table."Zing, what right do you have to talk to the mother of my child in such a manner?" Grey demanded in anger.Zing rose up as he scoffed. "A
It bothered him a lot. He turned to Athon. "Let him be buried immediately," Grey said and Athon nodded. "Do you perhaps know the reason on his death?" He inquired."I think I do, my Lord," Athon said as he walked over to the shelf. "One of the books on the shelf is missing, my Lord. It is the only book concerning the mysterious ancient lake," he replied.Grey was puzzled. "What has a book got to do with the death of the Mountain demon?" He asked him.Athon explained further. "The book withholds the secrets of the lake, my Lord. It is an ancestral powerful book that was discovered by the first demons," he said.Grey was still not getting what he was saying.Athon took in deep breaths. "Alpha, this book is said to consist of secret and invisible writings that no man can read. These writings when exposed, leads whoever is in control or possession of the book to the merging of all three worlds. The heavens, the earth and the demon world. I be
"I heard about your debts, Alfred," Grey began as he leaned back in his seat. "But, I must inform you before helping you out on this," he continued and Alfred was keened to what he was saying. "Your wife is responsible for your huge debts," he dropped the bombshell.Alfred was shocked. "What?" He exclaimed softly, puzzled and confused.Grey nodded. "I am not aware of how she does it, Alfred. But, to my best of knowledge, she collects money in your name because of her mother and I do not know what she uses them for. You should speak to her," he said."I'm quite shocked by this," Alfred said and his expression said it all. "So, Lisa has been doing this without my knowledge?" He asked himself, still stunned."Do not quarrel with the naive woman, Alfred. She has been doing all That because of her mother. But, that's by the way," Grey said as he tapped his index finger on the desk. "Get those payments from your wife, settle those people she g
