"No-no, not at all," Killian stuttered, forcing himself to smile.
"Then, why didn't I get an invitation?" Grey asked but it was more like a demand, and Killian forced himself not to tremble at the sound of his voice.
"I.. I.. thought I did," he lied. Killian had intentionally not sent an invitation to Grey. He was greatly afraid of the man, and had heard rumors about women not surviving a night with him. He could not possibly hand his daughter to such a man as Grey Stone. A man who has never smiled before.
Grey scoffed. "Do you know what I do to people who lie to me?" He asked, and Killian swallowed. "I cut off their tongue," Grey said without an trace of emotion in his voice, as he motioned to an omega standing by. Killian took a step back without his knowledge. The other alphas dared not to speak while Grey was still in the room.
Trembling with the tray in her hand, she walked towards him, her heart in her throat. Everyone knew about him, a fearsome alpha, and the only alpha in the room with the deadliest heart. Skilled in the art of killing without being touched.
He picked a glass of whiskey from the tray, and the omega immediately scurried away. He stared at the glass in his hand, and then at Killian. "Weren't you about to be raise a toast?" He asked him, and Killian nodded.
"Well then, I'm also looking for a specific type of female to make my bride. So, let's toast to the success of tonight's occasion," Grey said, and slightly raised his glass, without a smile on his face. The alphas raised their glasses too, each contemplating on Grey's word. They've never heard of such from him. They had always seen him as a detester of women.
Just then, Riley stepped down from the stairs, full of smiles with her daughters, Lisa, Reina, and Celine. Her smile vanished the moment her eyes fell on Grey. Her hands trembled, as her chest tightened in fear.
"Alpha Grey Stone," Lisa whispered, her heart in her throat, and her sisters heard her, and their faces were drained of color, out of fear.
Grey Stone would have been every girl's dream if not for his reputation. He was considered the most handsome man in the whole of New Orleans, but too ruthless and cruel for anyone to come near.
Grey looked over at their direction, and caught sight of Reina. Without much thought, he turned to Killian. "The middle one," he said, without sparing her a glance twice or even liking her, and Reina's heart sank.

Maya forced her eyes opened as she realized she has been dreaming again. She tossed to the other side of the sleeping pad, wondering who the people she kept seeing in her dreams were. Who was the man and woman in her dreams, and why could she not remember their faces whenever she woke up? She pondered.
Her stomach grumbled, and she sat up as she realized that it was evening and she was yet to eat anything since yesterday. She pulled her knees to her chest, as she hugged them close. She knew it was better to stay in her room than go to the kitchen for food.
An occasion was going downstairs and she had no intent to show her face, if she does so, she would be accused of trying to ruin Lisa, Reina, and Celine's day. Her stomach made noises the more, but she didn't move as she leaned her back on the wall.
She was not hoping in miracles. She was not hoping to one day get out of here. As far as she was concerned, Riley would never let her. She didn't believe in miracles. Her hopes had died the instant she stepped foot in the pack house twelve years ago.

"Alpha Grey, I..." Killian began, and Grey stared at him. He swallowed hard. "You deserve the best, alpha," he said, finding it difficult to speak. "My daughters are not the prettiest, alpha," he said.
Grey raised a brow. "You said they were the prettiest in the land. You always boast of them," Grey said.
Killian nodded almost immediately. "Yes, yes, but, there's someone more beautiful, and if you don't find her worthy, then you can take Reina," Killian said.
"Where is she?" Grey asked, staring at Killian.
Killian turned to Riley, who immediately snapped her fingers at Emily, and Emily hurried down to Maya's room.
She opened the door, and found Maya leaning on the wall. "Get up. Your fate is about to change for the worse," she said, and Maya opened her eyes and stared at her, wondering what she meant.
Emily grabbed her arm, and pulled her up, dragging out of the room. Maya was too weak to fight her. "The alpha is giving you as a wife to the alpha of the dark moon pack without a price, ah!" She said and mocked Maya's fate.
Dark Moon pack? Maya thought wondering who the alpha was, until it struck her. She gasped in horror, and began to force herself free from Emily's painful hold. There was no way she was going to let herself be given to a man she heard little rumors about. From the little she had heard, she could tell he was no good.
But, Emily held her tightly. "Behave, you bitch," Emily said in anger, as she dragged her.
Just as they got closer to the hall, Musky oud wood scent with a mix of dark chocolate clouded Maya's senses and she could barely breathe. She stopped struggling with Emily, as her wolf danced in delight at the excitement of having a mate.
Perhaps finding her mate will stop her from being sold to the ruthless alpha, Maya thought.
Grey's senses were clouded with the scent of lavender and vanilla, and it was driving him insane. Since he arrived at the Oasis pack, he has been feeling uneasy when he got hold of the first scent, but now, the scent was stronger, and was threatening to break him.
Just as Maya and Emily approached, one of the omegas stuck out her leg, and Maya stumbled on it, and let out a gasp as she expected to fall down flat in shame, but she was caught by a strong pair of arms. She looked up and found herself staring into icy blue eyes, and she knew immediately that this was her mate. "Mate," she found herself saying. We've found our mate! Alysia danced in delight.
Mate! Grey's wolf, Silver said in delight, but, unlike Maya, he said nothing about it as he got lost in her twin pool brown velvet eyes. "I'll take her," he said, to the shock and dismay of Maya.
Killian didn't lie when he said the girl before him was prettier than his daughters, but that wasn't why Grey accepted to take her. He was taking her because she was his mate, and that, no one knew, not even her.Grey made Maya stand properly as he turned to Killian. "It is settled then," Killian said with a nervous smile. He was glad that he his conniving tricks had worked.Grey turned sideways. "Ready the car, we're leaving," he said to the three gammas that came with him, and they immediately went to do his bidding. Maya could hardly believe her ears. She was going to leave the Oasis pack to the dark moon pack. Was that not like jumping from frying pan to fire? She turned pleading eyes to Killian. "Please alpha, don't do this to me," she pleaded softly. Killian ignored her and turned to Grey. "You can take her away," he said, and Maya's heart ached. Why was fate being cruel to her? What wrong has she committed to be a living soul? She wondered in confusion and hurt."You don't tel
Maya groggily opened her eyes, and her eyes were still dazed as she slowly looked around. She placed her hand on her head and let out an audible hiss. "Where am I?" She asked no one in particular, as her eyes began to adjust to the unfamiliar dimly lit room."My room." Grey's voice came from the opposite direction, and she turned sharply to him. Her twin pool brown velvet eyes dilated as horror washed all over her. She had thought everything about Grey taking her away was a nightmare, she had just woke up from.Grey's cold icy blue eyes met hers. His lips was pursed in a thin line, as he stared at her. "Why did you faint?" He asked her."Is there ever a reason why someone would faint?" She asked with a frown on her face, as she looked away from him, and when her eyes met his again, she wished the ground would just open and swallow her whole. The look on Grey's face at her sarcastic reply was not pleasant. If looks could kill, she could have been dead. She swallowed hard and looked dow
Maya's eyes fluttered, as the sun rays filtered through the window, and rested on her face. She stifled a yawn, as she stretched lazily. For the first time in years, she had a somewhat peaceful night rest. The bed had been so soft that she could barely keep her eyes open. Occasionally, she was bothered by the fact that she was in Grey's room, and he could walk in at any moment, and either drag her out, or force her to stay in the bed with him. That would be nice, her wolf, Alysia said in a cocky way.Shut up, you should be thinking of ways to escape this place, and not dirty thoughts, Maya said, scolding her.She looked at the other side of the bed, and realized that Grey had not showed up in the room since last night. She had just being worried without a reason. Did I inconvenience him? She thought aloud. She got up from the bed, and since she got into Grey's room, she was finally able to notice the details his room entails. She noticed his walls were a color of dark grey, and the lo
Grey stared at her unable to fathom why he had said that to her. He was tempted to run his fingers in her wet hair, but decided against it, as he walked towards the bed, and picked up the dress laid out for her. He walked up to her, and thrusted the dress into her hands. "Get dressed, and come down for breakfast," he said, and walked towards the door, and as he opened it, he added. "Ten minutes," he said, and walked out of the room without looking back.Maya let out the breath she had no idea she had been holding. She placed her hand on her chest, and could feel her heartbeat accelerating. How could one person make her fear so much? She wondered.Just then, the three omegas walked in again. "Luna, please let's proceed. We have to be quick. The alpha said ten minutes." Gwen said."O-okay," Maya said, too flustered to respond properly, as her mind flashed back to what just happened a minute ago."What do you want?" She asked."You," he said, with a look she had never seen before. What w
Grey raised an eyebrow as he stared from Eli to the rest of the elders. "Why?" He asked."She's an omega, alpha," Eli said.Grey tapped on his glass of wine on the table. "Your point exactly?" He asked."An omega cannot, and will never be our Luna," he said."I'm sorry, alpha, but, that's just how it has to be." John interjected.Grey raised a brow, his back still pressed in his seat. "Really?" He asked, and they nodded in agreement, including the omegas standing a few feets away.Grey folded his hands together, as his icy blue eyes were fixed on them. "Y'all know I do whatever I please," he said, and they nodded, having zero idea of where he was heading with his words. "But then, I decided to do this one thing y'all asked of me, as a sign of respect, and here you all are, telling me otherwise," he said, a blank expression on his face. Maya said nothing as she kept her eyes on her fingers, her ears wide open to understand all what was going on before her, and her heart thudding in her
Gwen noticed the change in Maya's demeanor, and she went closer to her. "Are you okay, Luna?" She asked worriedly.Maya gave a slight nod. "I'm just trying to... catch..." She began to say, feeling her eyes closing. "My breath," she said in a hush voice, before slipping down on the floor."Luna!" Gwen said, falling to her knees, as she shook Maya, trying to revive her. "Look what you've caused!" She said, shooting Cora a hard glare, and then looked at Maya with a panicked expression on her face. "Oh, my. I wonder what the alpha would do to us once he finds out we caused the Luna to faint," Gwen said, as she held Maya's hand, trying to pull her up. "Help me take her to the alpha's room," she added, but Cora scoffed, and walked away. One by one the other omegas did the same thing too.Gwen was trying her best to pick Maya up, but was failing. Soon, she got help when the salutary walked into the house in an accord to check up on Maya.He sighted Gwen struggling with Maya, and rushed to h
Maya stood by the window examining the distance between the window and the ground outside. Her eyes darted left and right to see if there was any warrior in sight, and indeed there was. Earlier this morning there was less of them, but as the blue sky had turned grey with twinkling stars, there was more than seven warriors in sight. There was no way she could successfully scale through the wall of the window without being seen. She groaned hard. Perhaps she should try running away very early tomorrow morning. She groaned hard again. "Another night in this place," she said in dismay, and heaved gravely. "It's just one night. It wouldn't be that bad." She said trying to reassure herself. She turned away from the window, and immediately her body stiffened by who she saw resting his lithe frame on the wall. Her breathing quickened, and her knees buckled, as her eyes met his."What do you mean by one night left?" He asked her with a blank expression on his face. She swallowed. She was quite
"Why?" Grey asked her, with a rare puzzled look on his face.Maya looked away from him as she shrugged. "How am I supposed to know?" She asked him. After all, the salutary had not come to see her. He had only come at the right time when she fainted."Did he check on you?" Grey asked her, as he recalled the salutary saying he was going to come check on Maya to know if she was alright, and to confirm whatever presumption he had of her.She looked at him, and hugged her arms to herself, shaking her head. "No," she said. She would not tell him about the bully she got from the omegas."Well then," he said, as he shrugged his shoulders a little. "Do you want to have dinner now?" He asked her.She stared at him wondering why he was bothered about her not eating. It felt as if he heard her as he eyed her from head to toe. "You look extremely thin," he said to her in sarcasm. She frowned at him. "I'm not thin. I'm lean, okay?" She said."Dinner?" He asked her, playing dumb to her words. She wa
