56. Make A Plan

“Rossie said you liked me. And she doesn't like that. Is it true? You like me?"

Marco was stunned for a moment when he heard Caterina's question, then he laughed while looking away. Unbeknownst to Caterina, the man swallowed heavily. He didn't expect that Rossie would say that to Caterina.

Marco tried to act as relaxed and calm as possible in front of Caterina. He didn't want to make his feelings too obvious. If Rossie could only find out, even though she had covered it up, that doesn't mean Caterina didn't realize it too. For this reason, he felt he had to be careful in giving answers.

“I also find it unreasonable. Remembering that all this time I have always considered you a good friend. However, I can't get rid of that curiosity and want to hear a direct answer from you," Caterina continued.

“Don't listen to her, Kate. Rossie was just talking casually. You're right, we're just good friends. How could I like you? I think of you as a little brother, just like Rossie."

"So, it's not true?"

"Of course not. You know, we're just good friends, right? I don't have time to play with feelings anyway, Kate. I'm too busy and don't have time to think about romance." Marco tries to convince Caterina that Rossie's words are not true, even though they are. He just didn't want their relationship to become awkward and strained if he confessed his feelings to Caterina.

Caterina breathed a sigh of relief. She thought about it and felt uncomfortable. However, after hearing Marco's answer himself, Caterina quite believed it. For Caterina, Marco is her best friend. Nothing more than that. She had forgotten Leo, but that didn't mean she was ready to open her heart to a new man. If Marco really liked her, Caterina would definitely no longer feel comfortable staying at that base and would choose to leave.

“You really don't have thoughts like that, right? I just feel awkward and uncomfortable.” Caterina asked to confirm the answer.

"Yes. We've discussed it before. Don't think about what Rossie said. Her emotions are unstable; that's why she's just talking."

“That's good. I can be calmer now. By the way, Rossie is quite good at fighting. Did she learn from you too?” Caterina asked.

“She was never serious when practicing. I only taught her some basic techniques because there are many dangers out there. I can't fully take care of it because I'm busy working. She is no match for you, right?” Marco chuckled.

“She just doesn't have a strategy. I think she's pretty good at fighting.”

“That's a woman's weakness. Sometimes, they don't plan a strategy and just go straight into the field. They don't think about what will happen afterwards and regret it in the end. Are you like that too?"

The question made Caterina freeze, then smile crookedly. Considering the many mistakes she made in the past, it was all because she never formulated a strategy. She trusted Leo too much that she didn't realize the real danger. Leo was the most dangerous threat, but she didn't think to avoid it in the first place.

Now Caterina has instilled principles in herself. Until forever, she will never remember Leonardo's existence in her life. Only his father was the victim of that man's cruelty. Even if she had to ally with an enemy to kill Leo, Caterina would definitely do it.

"Hey! Are you daydreaming?"

Caterina tugged at the corners of her lips, then dropped her gaze to the floor. The more she remembered, the deeper the hurt in Caterina's chest became. She used to be so naive; who knows how many times Leonardo said that the man hated him? Caterina still tried to melt the ice-cold man. Caterina laughed sarcastically when she remembered it. Realizing how stupid he was in the past made her hands clench tightly in the air.

"Have you worked out a strategy?" Marco asked.

"Yes. I think I'm ready enough to attack. I'll just start from the back of the base because that area doesn't have many guards. Usually they will gather in front in the morning," said Caterina.

“Your fighting skills are quite reliable. But are you sure you want to do it yourself? It is too dangerous.”

Caterina nodded confidently. Blood must be paid for with blood. Her father's death also came at the cost of Leonardo's death. Nothing can stop Caterina and the revenge in her heart.

However, on the other hand, Marco was starting to look worried. Even though Caterina's abilities were quite great, for some reason he wasn't sure that she would win. Caterina looked at Marco with emotion. She just didn't expect that the person who was La Vendetta's enemy would actually have a soft heart. Marco doesn't look like a typical cold-blooded mobster. In Caterina's eyes, Marco is a nurturing leader. He protects anyone who is worth protecting.

“You're right, Marco. I was too hasty in making decisions without thinking about what would happen afterward.” Caterina let out a long sigh. Her plan might fail if she followed her passion and didn't prepare herself.

“You can still make other plans. Have a secret meeting with Leo. Make sure he goes alone so you can kill him," Marco said.

“Leo couldn't possibly leave the base alone. He has his right hand, who always accompanies him," complained Caterina.

Caterina stared far ahead. It turns out that after thinking again, there are many plans that have the possibility of failure. If you take the wrong step, it's the same as losing your life. Even though her main goal is to kill Leo and take revenge for her father.
