57. Misunderstanding

The alarm sound at the headquarters suddenly sounded. The danger sign that Marco deliberately put up when an enemy attacked shocked both of them. Marco ran to the main door and locked it, then peeked out the window. His eyes widened completely when he saw many black cars parked in front of the fence at his headquarters.

The big men immediately broke in by forcing the fence open. Stupidly, Marco didn't bring many troops to guard the base.

Marco immediately pressed the danger button connected to his men's room. Even though there weren't many men on guard at the headquarters, at least there were still some who could be used to measure time. Before Caterina and Marco had time to storm Leo's headquarters, Leo suddenly arrived and brought a group of troops. This made Marco quite panicked. Who knows where Caterina's whereabouts reached Leo's ears, but he wasn't prepared if Caterina was taken by his enemy.

“Hide, Kate!”

Marco grabbed Caterina's hand. While his men were trying to fight Leo's troops, Marco wanted to take Caterina to escape through a secret door connected to an underground passage. However, the woman jerked Marco's hand and made Marco glare.

“What are you doing, Kate? Follow me. We have to leave quickly.”

"No! This is a great opportunity to fight Leo, Marco. Look, he only brought twenty troops," said Caterina.

Caterina readied the weapon, loaded the magazine with ammunition, and cocked it. The woman seemed confident in her decision. According to her, this is the last chance to fight Leo. Because if she attacked Leo's base, she would definitely lose.

“Are you crazy? It's just the two of us here. I didn't bring many troops to this place. And look, they all lost against Leo's troops. This is too dangerous!”

“Didn't you just praise my abilities? Why are you so afraid? Take your weapons! Load the magazine with ammo and get ready.” Caterina started to prepare herself.

Marco could only chuckle and curse under his breath. Actually, he wasn't afraid of fighting Leo, but Marco was afraid if Leo succeeded in taking Caterina away. The man was very sure that Leo had come to his base to pick up Caterina. There was no other reason why Leo came all the way to his secret base other than wanting to take Caterina by force.

“Let's hide first, Kate. Trust me, this is too dangerous. Fighting that many people fully armed is not the right choice.”

“Then you can hide, Marco. I will fight them myself.”

Marco was still trying to persuade him at a critical moment. Until suddenly a scream made Marco let go of Caterina's hand.

“Get out or I'll destroy this building, Caterina! I'll give you a minute before I throw a bomb in there!” Leo's scream echoed.

"You think I'm scared?" Caterina answered Leo's shout.

“Ignore him. We still have time to escape, Kate!” invites Marco. "Come with me; we'll escape through the secret door."

“Let go, Marco! You can leave now if you don't want to help.”

“Break the door!” Leo ordered his men.

Because they argued for too long, finally the big door was forced open. Marco immediately pulled Caterina behind him to protect the woman. Leo suddenly became angry when he saw it.

“Tsk! Look what that guy did. Is he acting like a hero?” Leo grinned fiercely.

“I came to get you, Kate. Don't make me angry and come here quickly!” Leo ordered.

“Why should I follow your orders? I don't want to!" Caterina emphasized.

"Don't force her," Marco interrupted.

"Shut up! I have nothing to do with you. Get lost right now. Don't let me make a mess in this place. I'm still kind," Leo said to Marco.

“This is my base. What you do here is my business. Besides, I didn't expect you to be so kind here. I just don't like seeing you bullying women," argued Marco.

“Fuck. Beat him up!” Leo ordered his troops to advance.

Twenty of Leo's men immediately attacked Marco. Not wanting to just keep quiet, Caterina helped Marco paralyze them. The sound of the firearm fired by Caterina made the bullet explode right on target. This surprised Leo because his troops came empty-handed. It's not without reason that Leo brought unarmed troops; it's all because Leo didn't want to see Caterina get hurt.

Seeing that some of his troops had died, Leo immediately cursed. Caterina's martial arts action was enough to amaze Leo. Seeing Caterina's fighting ability made Leo pull the woman's body. He didn't want Caterina to get hurt because of an attack by his men.

“Kate, I came here because I wanted to take you home. Your father—"

A kick landed on Leo's jaw. The man was very surprised because Caterina had managed to beat him. Even fresh blood flowed down the corner of his lips because of Caterina's kick.

“Don't say anything! I don't want to hear anything that comes out of that venomous mouth of yours!”

Caterina attacked quickly. The punches, kicks, and attack techniques she had learned so far were used against Leo. Like it or not, Leo had to fend off all of Caterina's attacks. However, no matter how well he avoided it, Caterina still tried to corner Leo. Sometimes, Leo also countered Caterina's attacks, but he didn't use all his strength because he didn't want the woman he loved to get hurt.

“Life must be paid for. You have to pay for my father's death!” Caterina shouted as she kicked Leo hard in the stomach. The man was pushed back and hit the wall because he didn't dare to hurt Caterina.

Leo started attacking while making sure his attacks didn't hurt Caterina. He only attacked to drain the woman's energy. If Caterina gets tired, Leo can beat her easily.

On the other hand, Marco was starting to run out of steam against Leo's troops. He thought about retreating, but letting Caterina fight alone was also not the right choice. While trying to defeat the enemy, Marco is also keeping an eye on Caterina.

“You misunderstand, Kate. I didn't kill your father. He-"

“Shut up!”

Caterina got even angrier when Leo tried to explain about Dante. She didn't want to hear any explanation from Leo and wanted to kill him. With that, Caterina felt her father would feel peace in heaven.

Marco managed to paralyze some of the troops after firing a firearm. Seeing Leo's movements, who didn't dare attack and only repelled Caterina's attacks, made the man understand. Leo just wanted to exhaust Caterina's energy so he could take her home. After ensuring that Leo's remaining troops were helpless, Marco immediately grabbed Caterina's hand and asked her to run away.

“Fuck. Chase them!” Leo asked his men to move quickly.

However, Marco has managed to enter the secret door and take the underground elevator. Leo and his squad couldn't access the passage because the door would only open with facial verification.
