50. Saving Dante

In the dark of night, Leonardo quickly took Dante to his base, every second was precious, making the hot-blooded man worried about Dante's safety. On the way to headquarters, Leonardo looked worried and held back his anger. The man felt he had to make sure Dante was okay even though fresh blood was flowing all over Dante's body. 

Leonardo wiped the blood from the corner of his lips. In fact, the wound he felt was no more painful than seeing Caterina with her enemy. For some reason, the man was angry when he saw Caterina with Marco. His chest felt hot, but the man was still reluctant to admit his feelings. He tried to deny that the feelings that arose were jealousy because he had fallen in love with Caterina.

“Ben, call the most skilled doctor in the country and have him treat Dante. I don't want to know how, what is clear is that Dante must be saved!"

“Okay, sir. I happen to know several of Dante's colleagues who are quite professional. I will contact him.”

"Good. He is quite skilled at mixing drugs and benefiting us. So, make sure he is treated by a specialist doctor."

“Alright, sir.”

Ben immediately fiddled with his cellphone and called the great doctors he knew. Because of his current position, Ben is quite easy for people to trust.

Leonardo looked at Dante's body which lay stiff while thinking about Caterina. He blamed why the woman took Dante away. According to Leonardo, Caterina must be responsible for Dante's death if the man who served as doctor in La Vendetta could not be saved.

Once again Leonardo cursed. His feelings were a mess. He was angry with everyone for being careless and unaware of Caterina's departure.

Leonardo was angry because Caterina's stupidity meant he had to deal with Marco. Because of this stupidity, now Caterina and Dante have to be held captive in the enemy's base. If Caterina hadn't acted stupidly, they definitely wouldn't have been caught by Marco.

With his power, Ben finally succeeded in bringing in the most expert doctor to treat Dante. They moved quickly to treat Dante and tried to stop the bleeding by injecting some medicine.

“Prepare everything. We will perform emergency surgery!” expert doctor's orders to other doctors who are helping him.

The operating room was immediately filled with sophisticated equipment and doctors ready to save Dante's life. The bullet penetrated his brain, making his chances of survival very slim. However, the doctors did not give up. With strong determination, they tried to save Dante's life. Leonardo watched for himself how the doctors removed the bullet from Dante's head.

Seeing a lot of blood coming out made Leonardo clench his fists in revenge. He vows to shoot Marco dead if Dante cannot be saved. Leonardo, who is still filled with feelings of guilt, feels he must be responsible for Dante's recovery.

With steady hands and focused eyes, the doctor finally completed the operation. Leonardo waited with a pounding heart, hoping that Dante would wake up as soon as possible.  Time seemed to pass very slowly, but finally, Dante's heartbeat began to return. Although still unconscious, this is a very positive sign.

“His chances of recovery are very slim. I can't say for sure when he will wake up from the coma, but if we continue to monitor his progress, it looks like he still has hope for life," said the doctor.

"For that reason, you must be responsible for his recovery," answered Leonardo.

An agreement was made. The doctor finally took Leonardo's job to care for and ensure Dante's recovery. Even though it might take a long time, the doctor promised to do what he could.

Dante's body is now connected to various devices to monitor his condition. Dante survived with EKG cables, a ventilator and other devices used to help get drugs into his stomach. However, it was with these efforts that Dante was able to survive.

Leonardo stood beside his bed, looking at Dante's face with hope and worry. There was still anger in his eyes. If Dante had not been lying helpless, Leonardo would have beaten Dante for leaving the base without his knowledge.

Because his anger had not subsided, but he didn't know who to take it out on, Leonardo finally came to the detention room. He met Alex and beat the man who had been his right hand man.

Alex, who didn't have time to defend himself, immediately fell helpless because Leonardo beat him mercilessly. The man couldn't open his eyes anymore when Leonardo grabbed his collar.

“Bastard! If you don't help Kate leave this base, she definitely won't be caught by Marco!” he hissed.

“I-I'm sorry, sir!”

“Sorry you said? You didn't see how Marco shot Dante in the head right in front of my eyes? What if Marco will also kill Kate before my eyes?!”

Alex couldn't say anything else because Leonardo's hand had flown and landed on his jaw. The man fell unconscious under Leo's feet. Leonardo left the detention room after making Alex unconscious.

Days passed, and Dante was still lying in bed, his body connected to various devices that monitored his condition. Leonardo never left him, always standing by his bed, looking at Dante's face with hope and worry.

Doctors also continue to monitor Dante's condition, making every effort to wake him from the coma. They administered medicine, performed therapy, and even used advanced technology to awaken Dante's consciousness.

“How long before he wakes up?” Leonardo asked.

“His heartbeat started to return to normal. The probability is seventy percent. However, this possibility may change depending on the patient's body condition. When recovering, the patient will experience a minimal state of consciousness, namely being able to follow instructions and showing the ability to act deliberately. However, it needs to be emphasized that it is possible that he will also experience post-traumatic amnesia."

Leonardo folded his arms across his chest. He felt he had to return to Marco's headquarters and meet Caterina. He just wanted Caterina to know her father's condition. However, it seems like now is not the right time, because Leo also wants revenge on Marco.

Leonardo walked quickly to a room filled with weapons and loaded ammunition into his gun. He fired at the wall so quickly that all seven bullets were used up. Then, put the object on the table and catch your breath.

The image of Marco's face when he shot Dante in the head is still vivid in his memory. Leonardo's hands immediately clenched into tight fists. He cursed loudly as he threw the gun that was in front of him.

Leonardo was worried that Marco would also kill Caterina. That's why he prepared troops to attack the enemy base as soon as possible and save Caterina. He didn't know that Marco was planning to pit them against each other.
